I’m 75 years old and have decided to take back my portfolio from my money manager and self-manage it. How does a 75- year- old go about this rather scary task of managing one’s portfolio at this overvalued market time. My money manger has me at 60% equities and 40% laddered bonds. He has 19 ETFs for the equities portion which I believe is excessive. Any suggestions you can offer would be welcome.
In this video, I talk through six things to consider when taking back control of your investments while you are in retirement.
1. Length of Planning Period
2. Burn Rate
3. Essential Spending vs Discretionary Spending
4. Guaranteed Income Coverage Ratio
5. Diversified Portfolio
6. Getting Help

"I haven't heard you or other financial advisors say much about "bracket filling" in retirement. Is it reasonable to think that in retirement I should be filling a tax bracket up with pre-tax accounts, then using after-tax accounts for withdrawals that reach into the higher bracket? Is there a way to model this in Bolden?"
It's a great question that we cover in this video.
