I love the tie front design of these blouses, and the gathered puff sleeves make it feel feminine and fun! The design is inspired by the Emerson Fry Isla top, and turned out very similar!I used an old linen fitted bed sheet for my first time using this pattern, and used my beautiful hand block printed cotton from India to make the second version with a few added adjustments. This style is casual and easy to wear, but can also be dressed up a bit! I love both of these tops SO much, and will get so much wear out of them throughout the warmer months. Recreating a Viral Summer Dress | Sewing a Floaty, Comfy & Bump-Friendly Nursing Dress Rachel Stewart 2025-06-26 | In this video, I’ll be sewing my own version of the viral Daughters of India Kyra Dress, inspired by the romantic, floaty, hand-block printed dresses I’ve been seeing all over Instagram. The original dresses are ethically made and beautifully handcrafted in India, and I’ve been desperately wanting one—but with a baby on the way, I decided to make a more budget-friendly, me-made version that would work for pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.I used the Milla Dress sewing pattern by Slow Morning Studio and made the midi length version in a soft Indian block printed cotton voile, sourced from a U.S.-based Etsy seller (fabric imported from India). The finished dress has a relaxed, gathered silhouette that’s breathable, bump-friendly, and perfect for warm weather.It’s one of the most comfortable garments I’ve made—I've worn it during our family trip to Japan, on hot days visiting family out of state, and now, in my third trimester, it’s still in heavy rotation. My thoughts on KIBBE | How finding my type influences how I sew and shop! + mini try-on Rachel Stewart 2024-09-24 | The day has finally come to share my thoughts the Kibbe Image ID system! I first came across this concept about two years ago, and immediately dove in to discover how learning about my specific body type could simplify my life, and give me the tools do dress in a way that highlights my features. I was initially SO excited to share all my thoughts with the world until… I got so overwhelmed with the bottomless heap of kibbe info that I just about gave up. Fortunately, I took a step back in an attempt to view Kibbe more broadly, and it ended up helping me in all the ways I hoped it would!I may not be 100% set on a final image ID, but with a few to draw inspiration from and experiment with, I’ve been able to sew and buy garments I truly feel myself in.While I’m no expert, I’ll try my best to fill you in on some of the Kibbe system details, as well as share how I apply my new knowledge to shopping for fabric, sewing patterns, and store-bought clothing too. There’s nothing better than spending 10 hours hand crafting a beautiful garment and then actually reaching for it day after day. Lets sew REVERSIBLE TANK TOPS! | Stretchy layering tanks using Lola dress & tank pattern Rachel Stewart 2024-03-24 | Let's figure out how to make some reversible stretchy layering tanks! For this project, I used a regular single layer high neck tank pattern and made three fully reversible shirts by only adding a few steps! These tanks are perfect for layering under any open neckline sweater, cardigan, or jacket, and look great on their own too! Making these tanks double layered adds exactly the secure feel and opaque look I've been searching for in a basic tank. Turning my duvet cover into a LINEN SET! + bonus cozy plaid shirt & matching toddler set Rachel Stewart 2024-01-16 | Hey you guys! I finally got around to posting this video I filmed back in July, as my family was packing to move across the country!I LOVE this linen set, and plan to sew it over and over again with different fabrics! After exploring color analysis and determining that I'm either a soft autumn or true autumn, I realized that some of the clothes in my wardrobe weren't flattering me. Instead of buying all new clothes, I decided to try dying a few things! I used a couple different Rit clothing dyes, as well as black tea to achieve colors that better suit me as an autumn!
