Transhumanism
updated
This is a very effortless way to make videos which has a chance of working long-term but we'll see. I want to experiment with things like this and see what happens.
I show you around one of the Canary Islands while rambling about environmentalism, cleantech, Brexit, and drunkenly denouncing Trump.
It seems I can't put annotations up for this video so the name of the park I forgot to annotate is the "Parque Municipal Garcia Sanabria".
Music (in order)

I talk about the 1st video I released on The Operatic. This is still fairly bare bones as the current priority is working on the skills for the main channel and all the other bits and pieces going along with that but the next Brain Hack Diary will be very different :)

New features include a hair band on my hand which I must switch to the other hand if I make a speech error (ummm, like, eh etc) and a program written in Max 5 to generate the random topic.
The list of random topics will grow over time as the goal is mainly to improve my ability to communicate information, not so much to learn a specific topic inside out, but if topics repeat, information will flow better if it's fresh in my mind.

I don't currently have any content on my second channel but I have a website which offers a glimpse of the intended direction.
2. Is inequality OK if these inequalities balance out? (example: if there is 50/50
gender representation in all jobs but 90/10 for the fire service and 10/90 for nursing staff)
3. Is there a patriarchy and how do YOU PERSONALLY define this term?
4. Is there a rape culture and how do YOU PERSONALLY define this term?
5. Is rape dealt with fairly in your country and if not, what could be improved?
6. Is there a topic too serious or painful or otherwise to joke about? Why or why not?
7. What is your opinion on trigger warnings and safe spaces?
8. What is your opinion on the wage gap discussion?
9. What is your opinion on privilege?
10. What is your opinion on LGBTQ+ issues?
11. What is the best way to deal with prejudice and how common is it in society today?
12. What is the biggest misconception people have about you and your attitude to these issues?
13. Have you had significant personal experience of any of the issues raised in previous questions and how has it affected how you think about these issues?
14. Give me an example of someone whose thoughts on these issues you have a lot of respect for and why.
15. Do you have any further thoughts on these issues not covered by the previous questions?

I can't confirm this is the wage gap study I was talking about but it does support the argument I referred to.

I've been very busy the last few weeks due to work, so I've posted on my blog mostly. Even without the editing I used to do in my videos, it's psychologically easier to motivate myself to do a blog post than it is to make a video after being that tired.

Here's an article from Cracked highlighting the problem. It has been criticised, and even I will admit it's a bit obnoxious to read, but the points are still valid.

Yes, I'm aware of the irony of criticising the internet on the internet, and also of contributing to the exact thing that I say I'm refusing to contribute to in the future with this video. This does not invalidate my point. If a miniscule contribution to mob justice leads to a greater awareness of it with the view and result of discouraging it, I will sleep soundly.

Let's Talk About Rape (and how Laci Green got it SO wrong)
youtube.com/watch?v=VwarmRCAEhQ
In defense of Laci: I talked in previous videos about how there are issues we are all emotionally invested in that sometimes cloud our judgement. She is about as invested in these issues as she can get as a result of having to give university talks about it and the fact that she has a channel of over 1 million subscribers to make videos to about it. Me and Laci started making videos in our community at the same time, we have been subscribed to each other for that time, and my opinion of her has not changed: I have a lot of respect for her. Having a few blindspots doesn't change that.
I shot a lot of videos on the same day. I don't think I'll be doing that again as your perspective on the videos changes.

Lab-Grown Burgers Just Got A LOT Cheaper! (FW: Thinking)
youtube.com/watch?v=pXeAyoRsf-k
Graph of solar power production over time was created in freeware, Graphmatica. Year on x-axis, capacity by beginning of year in gigawatts (GW) on y-axis, formula is my own exponential curve of best fit:
y=1.35^(x-1998)
i.e. assumes 1GW produced by 1998, at 35% growth rate.
Professional estimates as to growth rate of solar capacity range from 30% (found in Peter Diamandis' book, Abundance: The Future Is Better Than You Think) to over 60% (found in various articles on CleanTechnica).
Source of data inputted on graph:
http://www.treehugger.com/renewable-energy/solar-panels-are-going-glut-shortage-first-time-2006.html
The article seems to suggest what I said about an eventual slowing of the trend.
