Small Chase of Gettysburg Honoring Our Veterans And Troops #3833 BaltimoreAndOhioRR 2023-12-09 | A small chase of the Gettysburg & Northern Railway short line using the Veterans engine which trails on the way out, but leads on the way back. First we see it crossing Center Mills and Nursery Roads in Aspen, Pennsylvania, then it shoves backwards into an industry to work at Aspers North Road. Next it works an industry at Upper Bermudian Road in Gardners, PA, then going through the Peach Glen-Idaville Road grade crossing, and then the Myerstown Road grade crossing, then it passes by along South Baltimore Avenue in Mount Holly Springs. Now, after doing some work in an industry, the engines have run around the train and the Vets Unit is now leading for the trip back, as we see it pulling out at East Pine Street. Next it crosses Green Mountain Road, then finally we see it crossing Old State Road. Both engines have Nathan K3 horns. 🦅 Small Chase of the Potomac Eagle Railroad All-Day Trip to Petersburg Train BaltimoreAndOhioRR 2023-12-02 | Chasing the Potomac Eagle "All-Day Trip to Petersburg" excursion train from Romney, WV to Petersburg and back. First seen crossing Rt. 28 (Northwestern Turnpike) as it heads south from its starting point at Wappocomo Station in Romney, then crosses a trestle over the South Fork South Branch Potomac River and goes through the flood gate in Moorefield, next it crosses a small wooden trestle over Durgon Creek in Moorefield and passes the old SBVR 1892 caboose. Next it crosses Rt. 28 again, then arrives at the depot at the end of the line in Petersburg, where it has about one and a half hour layover for passengers to visit the small town. The crew gets in the B&O 722 and heads back and is seen going through the Silver Acres Road grade crossing, then a public boat launch road, then the B&O gets to show off its Nathan P5 horn as it crosses Jefferson Street, then finally we see it one more time before it gets too dark crossing a small wooden trestle near Clover Drive in the South Branch Wildlife Management Area.Locomotives: PESX 8250(GP9u, Ex- CP, built 1955) & PESX 722(EMD F7A Ex- BLE, Ex- B&O, Ex- PEX, Ex- SBVR, built 1952).11 11 23 © BaltimoreAndOhioRR ™

🎃 Short Chase of the Allentown & Auburn Railroad Pumpkin Train Excursion BaltimoreAndOhioRR 2023-11-25 | 🎃 A short chase of the Allentown & Auburn Railroad "Pumpkin Train" excursion trip. We first see the train leaving the station in Kutztown, Pennsylvania and crossing East Main Street. Then we see it going through the Kohler Road grade crossing, then crossing the same road again in the next shot. Next we see it crossing Hinterleiter Road. Then we see it reaching it's destination in Topton where it runs around it's train and heads back. On the way back, we see it going through the Kohler Road grade crossing again, then pulling into the station in Kutztown as the ride ends. Locomotive: ALLN 206(EMD SW, Ex- PBNE, Ex- RBMN, Ex- SH, Ex- MPA, Ex- STRT, Ex- LS, built 1937). From the Allentown & Auburn webpage: "Built in 1937 by the Electro-Motive Corporation (EMC) for the Philadelphia, Belthlem, and New England Railroad, #206 is an SW type locomotive. PBNE 206 spent time working at Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem, PA before being sold to the Steelton and Highspire Railroad in Steelton, PA in January of 1947. While again being used at a steel mill it was renumbered SH 23. In the late 1950’s its original 600hp Winston diesel engine was upgraded with an 800hp EMD 567CR prime mover. With the upgrade, the original hood was modified to fit the larger engine and its original electrical system stayed the same. In December of 1967 #23 was sold to the Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad and renumbered again to MPA 83. While the Ma & Pa kept #83 in service, it was mostly kept in their roundhouse due to its age. On June 27, 1986 the Ma & Pa leased #83 to the Stewartstown Railroad. The Stewartstown Railroad purchased the locomotive months later in August of 1986. Renumbering it STRT 11 to fit their roster, #11 was used for freight and passenger trains on the Northern-Central Railway trackage in New Freedom, PA and very rarely ever made it to Stewartstown, PA due to deteriorating track conditions. In 1997, #11 was moved to Jim Thorpe, PA and used for Rail Tours Inc. Keeping it’s number, #11 was used as a yard switcher and for tourist trains. When Rail Tours Inc. ceased running train in 2005 #11, along with most of the rest of the equipment, was sold to the Reading & Northern Railroad. One year later the Allentown and Auburn Railroad purchased the locomotive. It would spend a couple of years stored in Pittston, PA before arriving at the railroad’s interchange in Topton, PA in 2014. #11 was renumbered ALLN 206, returning it to its as build number. Still wearing its Rail Tours Inc. paint for some time, #206 received a coat of black primer just in time for the first passenger trips out of Kutztown, Pa for Easter of 2015. Soon after #206 was painted Pullman green to resemble similar engines used by the Reading Railroad. Today, #206 is frequently used running passenger trains from Kutztown, PA to Topon, PA and back, as well as the occasional freight train out of Topton."10 28 23 © BaltimoreAndOhioRR™

🚂 Wilmington & Western Railroads SPRING HOCKESSIN SPECIAL Steam Engine BaltimoreAndOhioRR 2023-11-22 | 🚂 Locomotive: per the Wilmington & Western web page - " 0-6-0 Switcher 58 Status: In Service Engine No. 58 was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia in October 1907 (construction # 31899) for the Atlanta, Birmingham & Atlantic Railroad. She later became Atlanta, Birmingham & Coast No. 27. The locomotive was eventually sold to the U.S. Army and wore the number 6961, and was sold again to the Virginia Blue Ridge Railway and became their No. 4. She was later purchased by the Mead Corporation of Lynchburg, VA, and renumbered 300. In 1963, Malcolm Ottinger purchased No. 300 for his Valley Forge Scenic Railroad (VFSR). After operations ended on the VFSR, Brian R. Woodcock purchased the engine in 1973, moved her to the Wilmington & Western, and returned the locomotive to its original number. After sitting in storage for many years, Woodcock moved No. 58 to Avondale, PA, in December 1988 to become the star attraction of his Avondale Railroad Center. The locomotive sat as a static display until 1997, when Woodcock donated No. 58 to the Wilmington & Western with the wish that it be restored and operated in regular service. No. 58 returned to steam in the fall of 1998, and was dedicated as "The Veteran's Locomotive" on May 23, 1999. 🚂 WM Steam Engine Smokes Out the Camera 🚂 BaltimoreAndOhioRR 2023-11-18 | Western Maryland steam engine #1309 leads the Frostburg Flyer passenger train westbound through the Brush Tunnel in Cumberland, Maryland, on it's way to Frostburg. WM 1309 (From Wiki: Western Maryland Scenic Railroad No. 1309, formerly Chesapeake and Ohio Railway No. 1309, is a compound articulated class "H-6" "Mallet" type steam locomotive with a 2-6-6-2 wheel arrangement. It was originally built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1949 for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway (C&O) where it pulled coal trains until its retirement in 1956. It was the last steam locomotive built by Baldwin for the North American market. In 1975, it was moved to the B&O Railroad Museum for static display. In 2014, it was purchased by the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad (WMSR), who undertook a multi-year effort to restore it to operating condition." "No. 1309 was built from a 40-year-old design, with mechanical lubricators, stoker, and superheater, the last of a series of 2-6-6-2s that the C&O began in 1911. A very similar design, the USRA 2-6-6-2, was chosen by the United States Railroad Administration as one of its standard designs thirty years earlier during World War 1. "The engine is a Mallet articulated locomotive. This design was a compound locomotive where steam was expanded once in smaller rear cylinders and the exhaust captured and expanded a second time in larger lower-pressure front cylinders. While compound locomotives are more efficient than single-expansion machines, their extra complication led to very few United States railroads using them after the turn of the century. The added length of two sets of cylinders required the engines to be articulated to enable operation on tight radius turns common in mountainous areas in West Virginia and Kentucky coal country, which added even more complication. It also had two cross compound air compressors mounted on the smokebox door to supply enough air for frequent heavy braking needed in mountain railroading. While complicated and uncommon, the C&O had a long history with Mallets and they were ideal for slow speed work in West Virginia. "The Chesapeake and Ohio ordered 25 of these engines in 1948 to pull coal trains. When coal production dramatically fell due to labor unrest in 1949, the order was revised to just ten engines (numbered 1300 to 1309), and 1309 became the last domestic steam locomotive built by Baldwin."Once in service, it will be the largest steam locomotive in regular scheduled service in the United States and take 2-8-0 No. 734’s place as the largest active steam locomotive in the state of Maryland. *(A much larger steam locomotive, the Union Pacific's Big Boy No. 4014 was restored to operational status in May 2019 but is being used for occasional excursion service as opposed to regularly scheduled service.)"9 24 22 © BaltimoreAndOhioRR.
Small Chase of Everette Railroad Morrisons Cove Parade Excursion BaltimoreAndOhioRR 2023-11-18 | The Everette Railroad Company has a special excursion train trip for the Morrisons Cove Parade. The train is led by an old ex-Lehigh Valley, ex- Conrail, SW900 switcher freshly painted in bright red LV paint. We first see it leaving the station in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, under PA-36. Then we see it crossing the Monastery Road grade crossing. Next we see it crossing a busy Woodbury Pike. Then it crosses Cove Lane Road in Roaring Spring. Now we see it arriving at it's destination in Martinsburg and discharging the passengers along South Railroad Street.
