This is Halloween (The Nightmare Before Christmas) on Guitar Niall Stenson 2018-10-26 | Get FREE Guitar Tones, MP3s and TABS through my Patreon or Website!patreon.com/nstens1117niallstenson.comHappy early Halloween everyone!So for anyone who has been around my channel for a while you'll know that I've already covered this song as part of my Halloween 2016 medley, and I basically just reused my arrangement and finished the rest of the song.I was torn between doing the full 3 minutes of the song or shortening it (you can see which I chose). The full song works for 3 minutes because of the animation and all of the different voices hat keep your interest. On guitar, there's no real to simulate those different voices, and because of that, then it would just be repeating over ad over for 3 minutes. At least shortening it, I was able to keep the more unique parts of the song that would work on guitar.I'll admit I'm not 100% happy with this one. When I did this in 2016 I based it off the Kingdom Hearts version which was a nice looping track and was just long enough to stay interesting without repeating the same parts. Trying to add the latter half of the song was difficult just because of the vocals and how repetitive it is. I was also a bit strapped for time this week, so I just had to upload it. I think it's a case of me knowing the ins and outs of the song. I wanted to do a mashup of the original E1M1 song and the new style, so I used the tempo of the new style and downtuned a bit to match it. Then for the ending I had to downtune my 6 string to B (which is the lowest it can go before it get's messy) and then digitally downtune to get to Drop E to match the 8 string that was played on the original. Of the Disney+ shows so far I think this is the weakest theme song. There isn't really a memorable melody and the time signature feels like it's off but it all 3/4. There's an extra bar added and it really throws off the feel. It also doesn't help that the drums don't follow a predictable pattern at all, so it's very hard to keep time with it. Overall I love the vibe of the song, with the heavy parts and pulling back to the quiet synth/keys part, but it's not as good as the others, in my opinion.The show, however, has gotten off to a much better start than the other two. I'm a sucker for time travel movies/shows, so this is right up my alley. It sets up the world and wider Marvel universe and also sets up the "twist" about Loki, which is a good cliffhanger for the first episode. It may not have the emotional impact and the longevity that the Avengers theme has had but if the DC universe was a bit more consistent and had a few more years, I could see Junkie XL's Justice League theme becoming iconic.The film itself was pretty good, it has all of the same elements as the 2017 version so when watching it, I couldn't tell what was new or not (apart from the obvious) because it was mostly just pacing and the tone that was different. It wasn't trying to be Avengers 2.0, it stuck with the dark theme throughout.It could have been half an hour shorter though, the apocalypse scene at the end could have been cut because I don't think it added anything. I've had it in my Spotify playlist for a couple of months now, it's such a good song.This is the kind of stuff that I love to play. The rhythm part is interesting and not just boring 4/4 power chords, and of course it has a fun solo to play as well. After Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald I didn't play Pokemon for a good few years, but X/Y was the series I came back to. The last Pokemon series I watched was probably somewhere in the Johto season, so this was just a little bit after I stopped watching. This is one of the better theme songs, and it was fairly easy to translate to guitar. Some songs really suit the rock style and this is definitely one of them. Last year was the year of Power Rangers, this year it's Pokemon! So starting now, I'll be doing 2 Pokemon videos, followed by one random video until all 23 of the Pokemon themes are finished!I'm not entirely happy with how this one sounds. The original is a pretty island-y pop song, so translating that to guitar was difficult. I had to tone back on the distortion and the harshness of the tones a bit to make it work. I find I can do nice clean tones, and nice heavy tones, but the middle ground is difficult to achieve.
