The non-fiction title followed research through the Knights Templar, the Priory of Sion, and the Merovingian kings of France, finally proposing the hypothesis that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene. In 2003, Dan Brown's novel "The Da Vinci Code" popularized and fictionalized Lincoln's research for a worldwide audience.

Henry Lincoln continued his research and went on two write his two most important books - "The Holy Place" in 1992 and "Key to the Sacred Pattern" in 1998. These non-fiction titles never received much attention, but they presented an entirely new take on the mystery - something real, tangible, measurable, and indisputable ... something no one is talking about.
