“How Do You Love Somebody” was released as the fifth single from Why Don’t We’s shelved third studio album. The track ended up being their final release before the band went on a hiatus in July 2022 due to a legal dispute with their management, preventing them from touring or releasing music.
The lyrics follows the narrator after a messy breakup. Their ex-partner moved on faster than they could even comprehend, leaving them wondering whether the feelings were real or just for the fun of it.

The pop-rap “ROCKSTAR” by LISA is the lead single to her upcoming single album after almost three years of dormancy from her solo career. The style of the single is mixed with elements from hip-hop to electronic and showcases unique styles of both singing and production. The song involves producers Ryan Tedder and Sam Homaee, both known for making pop hits. Additionally, the single also marks her second solo release after her debut with LALISA.
Lyrically, the song is about Lisa’s wealth, skills, and her affluent life, consisting of fortune and success. Lisa also boasts about her talents such as influencing others, rapping, singing, and being multilingual.
The music video compliments the rich, electronic concept of the single, including cyberpunk scenery setting place in Bangkok, Chinatown and Yaowarat Road in Thailand. Most importantly, the film displays Lisa’s outstanding choreography and fashion throughout each scene.

Following the release of her As She Pleases – EP in February, Madison Beer returned to share a dark new song entitled “Hurts Like Hell.”
Prior to its official release, Madison teased the song on social media:
The song was co-written by pop-star Charli XCX and featured Migos member Offset. Madison expressed the song’s writing process to Paper Magazine saying:
Charli XCX is one of the writers on it. She was so incredible to work with, and we had so much fun. I wanted to do something… that we kind of were like, when you break up with someone you hope they see you doing really well, and I hope it hurts like hell. I hope you realize that you should have given me the love that I deserve, and that you messed up. Offset’s verse was really important, that he captured that as well. I wanted to make sure it felt like we were both ganging up on the same person, and that we were both talking to the same guy. It came out exactly how we wanted it to you. I’m just really proud of it.
The music video for “Hurts Like Hell” was released on November 14 and featured Beer playing a witch. She was shown using magic to take revenge on an abusive man before getting caught up in a witch hunt. It was co-written and executively produced by Beer, who in a press release said:
I had such a clear vision of what I wanted to do for this video. I was inspired by witchcraft and felt that it perfectly fit with the theme of the song, which is about teaching someone a lesson.

“Boyfriend” is the lead single to Dove Cameron’s untitled debut EP. The song was originally not planned to be released in February until it later started gaining attraction on TikTok through one of her posts which gained over five million likes. Dove later announced the song would be released on February 11, 2022 through her Instagram. Dove stated that
In writing ‘Boyfriend,’ I feel like I finally found my sound, my perspective and myself in a way I wasn’t sure I ever would,” she said in a press release. “I am so immensely happy to have this song and this part of me out in the world. I hope you feel access to yourself when you listen to it too.”
Highlighting her queerness, “Boyfriend” emphasizes the speaker telling the object of their affection just how much better a partner they’d be than their current boyfriend. As in, maybe what the girl in question needs… is a girlfriend.

“LALISA” marks LISA’s first solo release, and works as the leading track off her debut single album, LALISA, named after her real name—Lalisa Manoban.
This upbeat electronic-pop track compliments LISA’s vocals with a middle-eastern aesthetic and dreamy cool visuals throughout the song and music video. Lyrically, the song showcases her attitude, how she owns the vibe and is her attractive real self, LALISA.
The music video emphasizes the song’s main theme through choreography referring to the first letters of her name “LA” showed as the hand symbols. In another scenes, LISA is showing her Thai culture with The Great Crown of Victory. The crown represents the concept of divine monarchy, where the tall spire is a symbol of the authority and the right to rule over their subjects. She’s also wearing clothes made by Thai designer, Polpat Asavaprapha of ASAVA, inspired by the traditional Thai sabai top and a sarong wrap skirt. In addition, LISA is wearing an ear cuff inspired by Sangwan, a ceremonial necklace that symbolizes wealth and fortune, as well as bringing the aura of Thai culture by using gardenia flowers.
Besides LISA’s Thai clothing, the outstanding golden set in the music video is a recreation of the Phanom Rung Historical Park in Buriram Province, Thailand, LISA’s hometown.
The song was promoted throughout multiple teasers on LISA’s individual and BLACKPINK’s social media accounts, and followed by “LALISA” YouTube dance challenge.
