These murals incorporate the story of Aboriginal people’s involvement in the rail precinct over time, with elements of the surrounding landscape.
Artists Laura Pitt and Lena Smith have created a beautiful representation of the Indigenous culture in Moree, which will stand out to customers as they enter the newly upgraded station.

Which means even if they see you, they can’t stop. Take care at level crossings. Look for approaching trains and obey the road rules, or you not only risk a fine of over $480 and three demerit points, but your next crossing could cost you your license, your livelihood or worse. Don’t rush to the other side or your next crossing could be your last.

Sydney Metro Aerotropolis Update, December 2022
Peter Regan, Chief Executive, Sydney Metro: It's a very exciting day today. I'm here with Angela Jeffrey, Project Director for Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport. We just signed the SSTOM contract. Tell us what SSTOM stands for, Angela.
Angela Jeffery, Project Director, Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport: We've just awarded it to Park Life Metro Peter. So we're delivering with them the station, systems, trains, operations and maintenance contract.
Peter: So this is the big one, right? This is the railway itself? So, tell me a bit more about what the contract involves.
Angela: This is a huge one at six stations. We're delivering all of the systems line wide across those six stations. 12 trains, 12 pieces of rolling stock. It'll make sure that we're moving our customers between St Marys to the Aerotropolis in about 20 minutes.
Peter: When’s it going to be ready for our customers?
Angela: So we’re definitely targeting in line with the opening of the Nancy Bird Walton Airport.
Peter: And so super exciting. And we've got construction activity here underway already. Tell us where we are today.
Angela: So we're at the Aerotropolis site. So this will be the heart of the third city for Sydney. Obviously, the new city for Western Sydney and it'll be a great place for people to be able to access the airport and jobs of the future.
Peter: And so this site here, this is a station box contract?
Angela: It's being delivered by CPB Ghella. We will have TBMs arriving in the first quarter of next year and this is where they'll be retrieved when the tunneling is completed.
Peter: Fantastic. And so, Angela, from your point of view, obviously it's a huge milestone. And personally, what's exciting you most about what comes next?
Angela: This project will revolutionise Western Sydney and I'm from Western Sydney, so for me it's important and it's really special to be delivering for the people of the West. It will be a game changer. It'll mean people not having to commute all sorts of distances to get to specialised jobs. They'll be able to work closer to home, have a really great social impact is what really, really excites me, Peter.
Peter: And so here at the Aerotropolis Station. This is probably, what, just a few minutes to the airport from here?
Angela: Yeah, 5 minutes journey time between the airport and the Aerotropolis And obviously, as it's a turn up and go service, there's no need for timetabling. It'll be easy for commuters and people to move around the west. I think our customer is going to absolutely love it.
Peter: Really looking forward to coming back and seeing those TBMs going in the ground.
Angela: Can’t wait.
Peter: Yeah, fantastic, well done.

16 programs delivered
Theresa Coletta, Sydney Metro Pre-Employment Program Coordinator: Sydney Metro's pre-employment program is a collaborative program so it brings all stakeholders into the room. That's industry, our contract partners, our training organisations, and our funding bodies. And we've designed a model that supports underrepresented groups.
So diversity groups as well as long term unemployed or underemployed people into work on Sydney Metro.
Alex Simbolon, Hoist Operator: My name is Alex Simbolon and I'm a hoist operator at Pitt St South. The pre-employment program is somewhere where they can teach you the skills to be able to go along to an interview and know what they're going to ask you before you actually go for the interview. So it makes me feel really proud to now have a full-time job and be part of the pre-employment program.
Teresa: Pre-employment program aims to equip people with not just the technical skills,
but also the communication and the teamwork skills. So the human factors required
to work within this industry. So the programs can be targeted
to specific diversity groups like Aboriginal people culturally and linguistically diverse or women in nontraditional roles. And we've had some really high success rates with women going into technical apprenticeships after the program.
Stacy Sung, Community Relations Trainee: I was working as a project manager, and in IT industry back home in Taiwan, and the pre-employment program has provided me the entry-level skills needed.
Teresa: Last year we did a program where it was all women and they were so excited about getting this opportunity to actually go into something that was completely different to what they've done before, and they were really bursting with pride that they actually completed the program like this.
Alex: Positively impacted my life at work and at home, really with my health going to work every day, having a purpose.
Teresa: There's a shortage in the construction industry so we want to try and help bring people who have been unemployed for such a long time to maybe look at a career
path in the construction industry.
Stacy: So I choose to work in the construction industry because I can see the growth and the future and I wanted to learn some new skills.
Alex: I would definitely recommend other people to go through the program to experience
the things I've experienced.
Teresa: You don't know how far you're going to go. You could start off as a laborer, you could end up an engineer, you could end up a project manager, give it a go. You never know how far you'll go.

[Bianca Nicholls] My name is Bianca Nicholls. I'm working a Certificate III in Civil Construction. I'm laboring at the moment and I'm doing an apprenticeship. I had these people come out to my school
and they were telling me about rail, and I got really interested. So I did a school based apprenticeship
traineeship went through three interviews, and I successfully passed and I decided to leave school and do rail full time. I do recommend working in Sydney Metro. Every day is something new, so.
