Our Unwritten Seoul - On Your Side - Sion(시온) - Viola Cover willimakemusic 2025-06-20 | I haven't seen many music covers of the OST from the Kdrama "Our Unwritten Seoul", and I thought that was such a shame, so I thought I'd make a quick cover of one of the tracks! I got chills when this song played at the end of the first episode. At that point I knew that I was watching something really special. I can't believe there's only 4 more episodes left... The next episode is coming out tomorrow! Watching this drama was a really good distraction for me after coming back home to Maryland. However, on Monday I will be in New Hampshire for a month!!! I think this show is a good example of the saying "the grass is always greener on the other side." The two twins used to be so close to each other but over time they ended up being resentful of each other and distant. It's nice to see them become closer to each other again. Also YAY MY FIRST PARK BO YOUNG DRAMA IN A WHILE! My last one I watched was when I was still in high school called Strong Girl Bong-Soon (what a throwback). She is SO good acting as the twins wow. Deltarune - My Castle Town - Viola Cover willimakemusic 2025-06-05 | Oh boy oh boy!!! I made this cover to celebrate Deltarune Chapter 3 and 4 coming out!!! OH AND HAPPY SWITCH 2 LAUNCH WOOHOO!!! I don't have the funds to buy one right now nor do I feel the need to at the moment. I'm a bit late to celebrate and part of it has to do with me playing through chapter 3 today. I want to do more Deltarune covers after going through chapter 3! Though I think I want to get out this anime OP cover first! Can't wait to play through more and if I don't upload for a little bit it's probably because I've been playing too many video games 😆 This track that plays in chapter 2 is such an amazing track. I love tracks like these that feel a bit more somber. The hype ones are really awesome as well, but I'm not sure how exactly I would be able to cover those on viola... hmm maybe I can attempt and if it doesn't work out I'll just not post it lol. My bow is currently in the violin shop right now getting re-haired. I recorded this with my old bow :) I love how this piece plays around with the number of voices. At first it starts with just piano, but then there's so many different parts that weave in and out. For this arrangement, I wanted capture that as well. Stardew Valley - In the Deep Woods - Viola Cover willimakemusic 2025-05-31 | HELLO!!!!! I am back after 3 months! I’m sorry for being away for so long and I can’t guarantee that I’ll be back for too long, but it feels good to upload something again :) I find it much harder to get back into uploading covers when it’s been a while. Back when I was uploading pretty much weekly, I actually felt like it was much easier to just click that upload button. However, I’m often surrounded with these feelings of self-doubt and just wanting to give up. It caused me to just stop uploading because nothing was ever good enough. I didn’t really realize this until I started reorganizing my laptop… There are so many covers that I have pretty much finished that I ended up scrapping. I’m sure it’s probably like that for lots of other people too. ANYWAYS!!! I’m gonna talk now more about the cover and Stardew. I think this is my first Stardew Valley cover, which is crazy because I’ve played this game a lot!!! It has been a while since I last touched it though…I remember when I was finally able to reach this area where Old Master Cannoli was, searching for the sweetest taste. During the first couple of weeks of playing Stardew, I didn’t look up anything online, so when I first read those words I was so confused!!!!!!!!!! …and then I totally forgot about it. It was only until much later that I realized that I could gift a sweet gem berry. This game has so many secrets and I really loved just taking my time and just enjoying what it had to offer. Before my individual playthrough, I did play multiplayer with my fiancee’s cousin, and that was a lot of fun too! I was actually just spending all my time doing the fishing mini game and not interacting with anyone lollll. Gahhhh it’s so hard to record something when it’s been a while since I’ve recorded anything. Not to mention arranging, mixing, and editing. EVERYTHING JUST TOOK SO MUCH LONGER THAN I WAS USED TO AHHHHH. It’s nice to arrange this for 6 violas. I find that I don’t have to compromise as many things compared to my viola quartet/trio arrangements! For this one, though I decided to edit down the pitches of the bass line! This cover also features some things I just found lying in the house, such as my black pepper!!!!!! WOOHOO GO COSTCO BLACK PEPPER!!! I use so much black pepper in my cooking that it’s sometimes a little ridiculous. I was actually trying to find my egg-shaker that I knew I had, but I realized I was spending more time trying to find it than actually working on the cover itself…. The other things are my sai from when I used to do martial arts, and a drum! I’m really struggling to find the words to truly express what I’m thinking right now, but in usual fashion, I somehow managed to write and overshare so many things in this description (makes sense since I haven’t written a description in ages)……….. But I do wanna say that I really appreciate your patience, and I’m going to try to see if I can get back into YouTube videos at least for the summer! I have 2 other covers I just finished arranging! Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - Past from Far Distance (Viola Cover) willimakemusic 2024-12-16 | Woah, it's been a little more than a month since I last uploaded! I actually had the audio for this pretty soon after I finished the last cover, but with final exams and projects coming up, I had to prioritize that. So I ended up recording the video for this back at my parents' house! Yay, I'm back home! It's been a hard transition moving across the country, but also an enjoyable one (sometimes). It's a little awkward editing for a quintet, but I made do with what I had! For the Viola 5 part, I had to lower it by 1 octave because I still wanted that deep bass feeling. I definitely could've just asked a cellist to play it, but I think it's nice to have everything played by me in this arrangement. It's pretty tough doing an all viola ensemble, but it also gives me a lot more wiggle room when it comes to intonation and just experimenting with tempo and timing. But with more choices comes more work and a harder time recording haha. And for one the parts I accidentally hit the stand LOL (obviously for dramatic effect.........). This choir piece is soooo beautiful. I love the music from all the Xenoblade games but I definitely have a soft spot for XC2. Also, I'M SO EXCITED TO FINALLY GET A CHANCE TO PLAY X AHHHH!!! I was lowkey considering buying/borrowing a Wii-U just to play the game, but luckily it's coming to switch!!! Thanks for being so patient with me. genshin impact - pure sky 🌠 willimakemusic 2024-08-17 | Hey all! I finally moved across the U.S. to my new home! It’s been pretty tough getting settled in, but I’m really looking forward to the new school! Though I’m also a bit apprehensive…. Classes start on Thursday, but I have to go early for some TA training. It’s weird being a TA… sometimes I feel like I just started college. I wanted to test out how things sound in the new place, so I recorded this short little arrangement I wrote a few months ago. This and some other arrangements are all sky themed, just like that Atelier Firis cover I did in the summer. I really hope to release all the other ones in that theming before the new year. The arrangement is pretty simple but I like it! I was pretty reliant on the MIDI piano part, similar to a lot of my first covers haha! The Night of the Ball - Fire Emblem: Three Houses (Viola Cover) willimakemusic 2024-07-20 | More like Fire Emblem: Three Claudes 💛💛💛 After my first playthrough of the game (which was Blue Lions), I immediately went to Golden Deer because I wanted to romance Claude lol. It also helped that Joe Zieja, the voice actor for Claude, made some pretty awesome content promoting the game! It was my first time actually putting a face to the VO. This game was also the first game I ever bought with my own money AND the first time I bought something on release day. Three Houses definitely holds a special place in my heart and I can't believe it has been 5 years since the game was released. I wanted to upload a cover from the game to celebrate! Although I originally wanted to upload it on the actual release day, I got too excited and wanted to share it with you all sooner!I remember being so awestruck by this music when it first played! I didn't realize I would end up uploading a cover of this song when I first listened to it. It was actually Joe Zieja's video celebrating the 5th year anniversary that got me to record a cover from this game. I really can't believe it has been that long. These last couple of years have been very formative in my growth as a musician and person. I feel like you all probably can tell, but I've been in kind of a slump lately when it comes to creating covers. I've mostly been focusing on the move! I'm about to drive and move across the country, and so many life changes are about to happen. It's really easy to feel anxious about the unknown.It's hard to feel satisfied with this cover when I start noticing the numerous amounts of wrong notes I played in this one! I couldn't really change things because I didn't notice the wrong notes until I started editing the video lol. I hope you all don't mind! This time I tried lowering the basslines down an octave. It doesn't sound like an actual cello, but I guess it gets the job done haha! Lmk if you feel like it's too weird or anything like that! Agniratha, Mechonis Capital (Day) - Viola and Piano Cover ft. @kmadsmusic willimakemusic 2024-07-06 | AHHHHHHHHJFDHKJDHFJKHDFKJHFS IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!! Oh boy was this video a long time coming! This project all started in March when @kmadsmusic left such a sweet comment on my Auresco cover and brought up the idea of covering Agniratha together. We started working on this in late April after most of my schoolwork was wrapping up. I’m SUPER happy and excited that it’s finally released! KMADS did a fantastic job, so check out her channel if you want to see more from her! Forever grateful to her for all the music we get to make together! ❤️ Here is her version of the cover: youtube.com/watch?v=9KHNEAMTOLII didn’t work on the piano part, so I can’t really speak about that (BESIDES IT BEING AMAZING), but there were a couple of thoughts I had while arranging the viola part (and processing the video is taking a much longer time). So... I hope you'll humor me and have me talk more details about the music 😂 !! One such issue that always arose was which octave to use. Perhaps it’s stubbornness or some hesitation, but I didn’t want to use a violin for this or edit the pitches to make it a lower octave. For this specific arrangement, I could get away with it a little more since the piano part can cover those lower and higher ranges. In the original, the higher octave when the violin comes in the introduction is extremely haunting and beautiful. I wanted to at least be a higher octave for that part but the part wasn’t very idiomatic. I ended up settling for the range you hear in the cover which I believe makes it less suspended/floating, but more grounded and deep. Around 50 seconds in, I wanted my pizzicato to imitate the percussion that I heard in the original. At 1:14, there are so many moving parts but in the first draft of the arrangement I couldn’t really hear the primary voice. It makes sense with all the voices being so tightly knit together. I decided to double that voice despite the texture getting a bit thicker. It was a tactic that I used more than once haha. One of my regrets listening back to this cover was that I didn’t do a great transition into the next section around 1:36. It sort of fades out and then back in which could work too I guess. At 1:43, I thought it would be SOOO cool if I played artificial harmonics to imitate the flute timbre in the original! KMADS would be playing the actual notes from the flute, but I think it turned out pretty interesting! I would also have parts that primarily function as “bass” or “inner voice” but I thought it would be interesting to have some of those come out at times! However, that was also a pain to deal with in other ways such as during the mixing process lol. At 2:22, I could have had strings play with KMADS there, but I kinda thought it would be cool to have a sudden texture change there and only have piano playing! That section is one of my favorite parts of the whole track! I also love the section at 2:45 where the theme comes back but there's this new groove to it. Overall, there were a lot of choices to think about. I think some of it came out successful and some of it fell short, but I think I learned a lot throughout this! Since this cover took a while, I recorded the audio for this in April. It was wild trying to lip-sync to the audio of this and listen back to an old version of me! Mitski - My Love Mine All Mine (viola cover) willimakemusic 2024-06-09 | This is one of my favorite songs from the past year. There's just something about it that is so comforting. There's so much love put in this song and I found myself so touched by it. The singing and lyrics are so beautiful. I've always wanted to cover this song, so I'm glad to finally be able to! Haha, the instrumental I used isn't exactly in the tuning that I use, so I was really stumped with intonation. I found I had to make everything flatter than usual and avoid using open strings with this one. Looking back, maybe I could have just tuned down my viola lol. It was difficult recording the audio, but after listening to it while mixing and doing the video lipsync, I think the lower key changes the timbre of my viola for the better and fits the vibe more. This game is the sequel to To the Moon, if that sounds more familiar to people. I feel like To the Moon is much more popular, and it's well deserved with such a touching story. Although I personally connected a lot more with Finding Paradise for some reason. I always wished to cover this song, but I never felt comfortable enough to ask someone to play it with me. yearning for the sky ⭐️ willimakemusic 2024-05-27 | Hey all!!! Some of you will probably not know this game, but the Atelier series is really dear to me ❤️ There's this healing effect I get when I listen to the soundtrack from any Atelier game. I started playing Firis on the plane on the way to one of my music school auditions, and just listening to this track in the title screen really calmed me down admist all the stress :') The sky when I looked out the window that night was very beautiful. This is such a cute song! Also short and sweet. This is probably the last time you'll be hearing this piano from my apartment's practice room since I'll be moving out soon! Although it isn't well taken care of and quite frankly out of tune (but then again so is my playing lol), I find it very special and somehow comforting. It's also nice to have a practice room in my apartment (perks of living close to the music school I guess???). Before leaving my apartment to go to school, I would try to find a few minutes to just play around with this piano, and I got somewhat attached to it. This break was completely NOT intentional and I really wanted to upload more on the channel but as the school year got to an end, things got really hectic. All grades are out for this semester, so technically I am now done with my degree! Just have graduation left... and then I’ll be moving to a new city for more school! Two other music projects for YouTube are in the works and I hope they will be done soon!Haha, I'm also uploading this on my birthday, what a surprise! Yes, my birthday coincides with the international release of this game lol. Can’t believe it has been 7 years….I came across this video by @soriphel9667 where they played this song so beautifully and emotionally. I was so inspired by it that I wanted to make a viola version. Such a lovely track with a lot of references to the main FE theme! I guess it's been a while since the game was released, but I feel so nostalgic over this soundtrack 😭 Although I don't think it has the same effect as piano and music box, I do hope you enjoy this viola-quartet rendition! I am still not convinced what this song is called because although I searched it up online, I couldn't really find the original source material. All I found was a Ninsheetmusic arrangement of this (and some things from Musescore). I DID play this wonderful game a couple years ago (Man, what an amazing game with so much love and care put into it), and I do know that this theme does play in the opening cutscene via music box where Alm and Celica are children (Track name: Omen). I also hear the theme in Alm and Celica's love theme called "A Distant Promise." I ended up asking KMADS if she knew where this song came from and she found that it's from a track called Undiscovered Horizons. This sounds much more like the arrangements and other covers of this track. Thanks for helping me with this!!! Anyways.... I still very much wanted to cover this track even if I wasn't sure what to title it! I'm just going to title it as Separate Ways and say it's from FE15 LOL. It is based off of the Soriphel version and doesn't have the later parts. I also tried out something different with the split screen in my editing! I see some folks something like this when I watch their covers and I wanted to try it out. I'm not sure if I did it correctly or if it looks good, but I wanted to see what it'd be like! The thing about not uploading in a while is it makes me feel like I have to upload something really polished. I feel like sometimes I let that pressure get to me and I end up just not working on anything at all. I feel like it wasn't that long ago when the first episode first aired. I already knew from the first couple of episodes that this was going to be a special series ❤️ I really love the vibe of this opening. It feels so simple yet I find that really beautiful. I really love how gentle it feels. Gentle yet so much soul. Yorushika is soooo good. Ahhh I love Suis and her vocals, not to mention N-buna being amazing as always. Actually, both Yoasobi and Yorushika are some of my favorite groups, so it was really cool to see both groups work on the opening for this anime. It was also really cool overhearing conversations while I was eating at restaurants and hearing people talk about Frieren! I think that there is something so special about this show. I've wanted to cover this since 2019 when I first created this channel LOL. I'm glad to finally be able to cover this song 5 years later because this game is so special to me. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was one of the games that brought me back into gaming. Before that, while I played almost every mainline Pokemon game, that was pretty much it. Out of the blue, she asked me to play or improvise anything I wanted. She was going through her phase of trying to get her students to think more out of the box and try out improvising as a warm up. This lesson was right after I had beaten Torna, so I decided to play Auresco's theme for her. She said that she really loved it actually! She described the melody having this sort of innocent yet wistful feeling, which I found so fitting considering what happens in the story. I was so surprised that someone who has never played this game before could get that feeling. I don't really know what the point of this story is, but it has stuck with me ever since then for some reason. And I wanted to share it with you all xD. I wanted to wear yellow for Mythra and black for Malos. I wanted to wear red for the melody at the end to signify Pyra, but I couldn't find any red shirts. I ended up just putting a red cloth over my chin rest to show that lol. But AHHH I feel like I didn't do this theme justice 😭. It's hard to cover a song that you have a strong emotional connection with. There are a lot of things I am unsatistfied with for this and I've honestly been withholding uploading this for a bit. I think the last time I felt this bad and hesitant was my Pallet Town cover haha. This past week as been really rough for... numerous amounts of reasons. Lumiose City - Pokémon X and Y - Viola Cover willimakemusic 2024-03-09 | Hi!!!!!!!!!! It’s been a while!!! LOL watching this video I didn’t realize how aggressively I waved in the beginning. I took a break due to my auditions for DMA, but I am so HAPPY to upload something again! I AM DONE WITH DMA AUDITIONS!!! AND THAT IS SUCH A RELIEF!!!! We shall see in a couple of weeks if I get in anywhere… I will keep you all updated xD. OH and during my trip to my last audition, I went SKYDIVING with my partner. We did it the day before my last audition! It really helped with my nerves for the audition LOL. I was more nervous about skydiving than auditioning. Although, I don’t think I would recommend people skydive the day before their auditions. That was such a fun and exhilarating experience and I want to try doing it again...maybe in like 5 years… Ever since the auditions have been over, I’ve honestly been kind of lazy. I just kinda want to laze around and be a cloud. I also just want to play video games and watch YouTube videos all day. It’s been getting in the way of my schoolwork, but I am only about half a semester left so I gotta pull through. My graduation recital is on April 22 8 PM EST, and I haven’t prepared much for that. I’ll probably share a link to the livestream once I get it if any of you all are interested… Anyways… I hope all of you are well :) Thanks for being so patient with me ❤️I’ve wanted to cover something again for a while now, and although this was over a week ago, that trailer at the end of the Pokemon Presents was so cool!!! Pokemon Legends Z-A sounds so hype!!! I was so excited that I started working on this arrangement! It took a while, but here is my version of Lumiose City covered on 6.5 violas and a lot of background noise :D This arrangement turned out to be a lot more virtuosic than I was expecting. Haha, I had to do multiple takes on that run in the beginning. I ended up getting something, but it can always be cleaner!!! I ended up losing several recordings, so I couldn’t edit it exactly how I pictured it, but I think it still turned out ok. But MAN I HAD SUCH A BLAST WORKING ON THIS HAHAHAHAHA!!! After taking a while away from making covers, I forgot how fun this is. The process of working on the cover and seeing everything come together is really AWESOME!!!I have always wondered why they never made a Pokemon Z. And a Kalos game in the style of Legends sounds honestly really fun. I wasn’t expecting to go to Kalos again so soon (I think a lot of us were expecting something Unova-themed), but it was a pleasant surprise. But yeah… I wonder what this Lumiose City redevelopment plan is going to be like. Are we going to the past? The future? Maybe both? All I know is that this is really exciting stuff! I’ve always felt like they could’ve done so much more with the Kalos region. I’m going through a new game of Pokemon X right now! Everything is gorgeous. I literally forgot how pretty things are. I remember back when it came out and how in awe I was. AND BENCHES!!!!!!!! I always wanted to see how Pokemon looked in 3D. I know that some people argue that Pokemon should have stayed in 2D, and I understand that the 2D sprites are charming, BUTTTTTTTT the Gen 6 games are so nice!!! I do remember it being really easy and honestly the story is kind of a mess, but I am enjoying the heck out of it!!! I didn’t realize I could be nostalgic over Gen 6 lol. It makes me want to do more covers of the music from the game. I have a couple arrangements in the works right now, one of which is from the original Bravely Default, sort of in honor of a collab I did recently. I played through the first in the series recently, and although the last third of the game felt like a drag, I had a very pleasant time with it. The Bereaved and Those Left Behind - Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - Viola Cover Ft. @kmadsmusic willimakemusic 2024-01-31 | This track that plays in the game is so emotionally beautiful. There's this sort of somber introspection that I find so heartbreaking 💔. I find the mixture between the strings and piano so well-written. It feels as if it's a combination of Noah and Mio's themes, kind of like their fates are being intertwined. I also really love the nod to XC2 at the end of the piece. I have such an emotional attachment to XC2 that I couldn't help but get chills. When I first listened to this track in the game I thought it was unbelievably beautiful. However, the more I listened to it while progressing the story, the more I started to appreciate it more. And now that it's been a little while since I beat the base game and Future Redeemed, I appreciate it EVEN more now. Oooh this is my first Xenoblade 3 cover. XC3 had a lot to live up to for me. Although I've never played X, all the past XC games have affected me in so many ways. I got such a special experience from it. I really loved this idea of learning what it truly means to live and the idea of connecting with others. Although I wouldn't personally rank it higher than XC1 or 2, I think that it truly was a phenomenal experience.Today is the 1st anniversary of when I started uploading to my channel again! I feel like I celebrate way too many anniversaries on this channel and I like to get really sappy/overly sentimental pretty often. Once We Part Ways - Xenoblade Chronicles (Viola Cover) willimakemusic 2024-01-16 | I'm back! And we're starting off the year with one of my favorites. I never thought I would ever cover this track because it's one of my favorite songs ever and from my favorite game series ever. Two specific scenes are engrained in my mind when I listen to the track. I can't help but get emotional when I listen to this. I ended up crying during this recording session :'). I've briefly discussed this before, but I find myself very overwhelmed (and honestly terrified) when attempting to cover songs that I have a strong emotional attachment to. However, somehow it ended up happening haha. I sincerely hope you enjoy this cover of Once We Part Ways from Xenoblade Chronicles!Working on this cover was a great distraction from studying. Although as always, I was hit with these feelings of self-doubt while working on this LOL. I think I'm still going to share this with you all though! Actually, as of writing this description, I just finished the music theory portion of my entrance exam! My head hurts so much LOL. I still have to do my music history exam which is due tomorrow night omigosh!!!! I actually think I did fairly well on the figured bass, harmonization, and 20th-century techniques. However, I think I was AWFUL in the analysis portion of the exam. I wasn't able to finish it in time... hopefully I will still pass... The fugue writing/counterpoint was intimidating but thanks to my friend it wasn't as bad. She helped me a lot in studying and reviewing past material. She's much better at those academic music subjects haha. She's actually getting her MM in music theory at the moment! I'm SO grateful to her because she really didn't have to help me. Then, off to MAGfest!!!!! If I'm being honest, I'm freaking out about it. It's my first time going haha! I live in the same state that it's held in and I'm fairly close to it, but I haven't really looked into exactly how I'm gonna get there. The plan is to carpool with a friend, but I don't even know if that's even going to happen anymore. I have a couple more Xenoblade covers that I've been working on! UNDERTALE - Undertale (1K Subscriber Special!) Viola/Piano/Flute Cover Ft. @kmadsmusic willimakemusic 2023-12-17 | “Despite everything, it’s still you.” That’s one of my favorite quotes from #UNDERTALE. I remember when I first played the game and got to that section. There's just something so powerful about those few words. This track is one of the most emotional tracks ever. Even after all these years later, I still get chills and cry when I listen to this track. Here is my cover of Undertale composed by Toby Fox! This cover has been a long time coming! My arrangement was originally done about 2 months ago, and I wanted this cover to finish off the end of the Undertale/Deltarune mini-series! However, things got a lot more hectic, and I haven't been able to continue the series for a while. However, I am so happy to finally be able to upload this and share it with you all! Despite a lot of technical mishaps, I am really proud of this one! I put a lot of my heart and soul into this, and I hope it shows. The cover is heavily inspired by @vgcellomusic and his arrangement of the same track! I remember listening to that cover around 2016 and being SO inspired and amazed by it. It has always been a dream of mine to cover this track just like he did. HAHA funny story about making the video portion of this. There were so many different parts for this (I don’t know how but I had about 25 videos) and I had to redo a couple of them because I lost my concentration sometimes and lost track of the repeated notes. I spent so long on this, it ended up being nighttime, so the lighting varies a lot! I was so focused and didn't even notice so I didn't even turn on the lights. Special thanks to @kmadsmusic for being one of the BEST YouTube friends ever!!! She played the piano part and programmed the percussion that you can hear in the background! It would not have been the same without her. Thank you for all of your help and support. And for editing those messy piano parts I gave you 🤣. I have one week of finals and then it's winter break :) I've been prioritizing school lately, but I've been really wanting to make covers again. I wanted to get a quick cover done while I'm visiting my family for my grandmother's birthday. I hope you enjoy this cover from Pokemon ORAS! I think this is one of the most emotional tracks in the main series. I have all these dreams to make more complex arrangements like all of those other cover artists/multi-instrumentalists I really look up to, but sometimes it's just nice to do something more simple. The theme plays twice, so I decided to highlight the lower range of the viola in the first half, and then the upper range in the second half. The next Undertale cover is taking much longer than expected, but it is so close to being done! I feel like it's becoming a little bit too big for me to handle. DELTARUNE - You Can Always Come Home (Viola Cover) willimakemusic 2023-11-07 | I love the title of this track. There is just so much warmth in just those few words. When I first made this arrangement, I was very homesick. I somehow ended up listening to this track and a lot of fond memories came up and I started to feel better. It was like this song was comforting me. This song brought out a lot of genuine emotions from me and because of that I thought it was fitting to not lip-sync this video. For this particular cover, the video and audio actually match up, so you can see all of my weird mannerisms when I play the viola live in all its glory! I tend to try to hide some of them which is partially why I usually lip-sync my videos. I was also going to use this arrangement for my first time entering into the Pixel Mixers monthly competition. I don't remember how long ago that was but it was in the beginning of 2023. This was back when i was only doing viola ensemble arrangements haha. I, in fact, DID NOT use this arrangement because I couldn't finish it in time, so it feels good to finally release it.It's nice to play an old arrangement, and it was actually PERFECT timing because MY LAPTOP BROKE DOWN!!! I ended up losing all my files including this arrangement! Sadly, the arrangements that I didn't cover/save elsewhere ended up disappearing. I actually didn't really finish mixing this specific cover (I kind of wanted to redo the table hitting part haha). But... I still wanted to upload it so here you go! As for sheet music, I do have an older pdf of it, but some of the notes are missing. I'm not sure yet if I'll put a link this time. I really love what Toby added to this track from his original track Home from Undertale. The reason I remembered that I had this arrangement was because I wanted to cover Home LOL. Now that I have covered this one, I feel like Home may be a bit redundant even though they are pretty different in their own ways. New Super Mario Bros DS was one of the first games I've ever played as a kid, and I've always had a soft spot for the plumber man himself 😂. Here is the Title Theme from Super Mario Bros. Wonder covered on viola! Hope you enjoy :DI had a lot of fun with this one and tried incorporating clapping and finger-snapping into this. I feel like that is such a standard in the soundtrack for these games now. I don't have any money to buy any video games for the time being but I REALLY want to play this game. It feels like such a breath of fresh air compared to the "New" series (Even though that series was what I grew up on). I used to watch A LOT of walkthroughs of the Mario games and it's actually what I used YouTube for in the first place. It's nice to watch Youtubers and streamers play this. I cry so easily whenever I hear this song. It's so short but so touching. I feel so comforted when I listen to this. It makes me feel like everything is going to be okay. I was originally not going to cover this track so soon, but I came across it really soon after I dropped my girlfriend off at the airport early in the morning. I had a really hard time going back to sleep after that, but this song actually helped calm me down. I ended up falling asleep to it. When I woke up, I just felt like it was the right time to cover it. This is actually a remake of my 2nd ever cover. UNDERTALE - Fallen Down (Reprise) - Viola and Piano Cover willimakemusic 2023-10-10 | Next up in my #Undertale series, we have Fallen Down! Well, technically the reprise version. I absolutely adore this track and when this song comes up in the Pacifist route, I can't help but get emotional. That whole route was such an amazing journey. I hope you enjoy! The original Fallen Down was such a great song, but what was added to it in the reprise version just makes it even more emotional. I feel like all the added voices and lines really help illustrate the fact that you're no longer alone anymore. Somehow in those couple hours I spent playing this game, I got so attached to all the characters. Even though it's been a while since I've played it again, I still remember a lot of the dialogue such as Papyrus thinking Toriel is Asgore's clone LOL. That's just how much this game really spoke to me. Ahhhhhh.... this arrangement............ There were definitely moments in this arrangement where I felt like I was missing the depth of the deeper and darker tones... AND the soaring higher-pitched sounds from an instrument like the violin. Maybe this is just my stubbornness, but I just wanted to show off what the viola could do, not any of those other string instruments haha. Looking back on this arrangement, maybe the transitionary material was sometimes too abrupt, but after listening to this over and over again while mixing I think I got used to it haha. And ultimately, I am proud of this cover despite all the imperfections I always have. Also, I am so proud of myself for finally figuring out how to attach this keyboard to the computer and my DAW! This keyboard is my girlfriend's, so I won't be able to use it all the time, but it's really nice to have the option now! UNDERTALE - Shop (Viola Cover) willimakemusic 2023-10-03 | Here is my #Undertale cover of the Shop theme! This is such a heartwarming and nostalgic song. It's so cute and comfy, and I always feel warm and fuzzy whenever I listen to it. I feel like someone is giving me a warm hug and that makes me want to cry 🥹Sometimes I listen to this and I feel like a cloud, just devoid of all responsibilities. Back when I was a kid, I thought the reason there was rain was because the clouds were sad haha. I also have heard it a lot from TikTok... and it's one of my girlfriend's alarms. I hope you all enjoy!Ahh yes, Mettaton. He is f a b u l o u s. I uploaded a couple days early because I was too excited HAHA. I just love this track so much! It makes me want to dance xD I really admire the amount of confidence Mettaton has. I wish to take some of that confidence. This cover was certainly a lot harder than my usual ones. I had a lot of fun working on this one though! Rhythmically, it was super challenging to put things together. I tried to stay as rhythmically accurate as I could for the piano part, but of course, there were many moments when I got off. However, I'm still really proud of what I did, and I got super excited when I finished recording the piano part! With the viola part, I tried to let loose a bit more and not worry too much about what my teachers have always told me. Because of that, it may be more messy, but I had a really good time! UNDERTALE - Once Upon a Time (Viola Cover) willimakemusic 2023-09-15 | Happy 8th year anniversary #Undertale !! Thank you so much for all the fond memories :)I can't believe it has already been 8 years. Back in 2015 when this game was first released, I didn't really play many games anymore. However, this game really took the world by storm and I couldn't help but find out about it. I remember being introduced to the game by watching part one of jacksepticeye's playthrough and from then on I became a fan of Undertale haha. It also did help that my crush at the time was really into this game as well xD. I just love the fact that I didn't have to kill anybody if I didn't want to. It went against all the RPGs I played before and that was mind-blowing at the time. It was the first time I looked forward to those random encounters that you see in RPGs. It felt like I was getting to know even the monsters that I would usually not know, and I couldn't help but be attached to all the characters. Yay for my first Undertale cover! I was actually planning on covering a song from Deltarune about 5 months ago, but I never sat down to record it. The video is private now, but my 2nd ever cover was from Deltarune!As you might have noticed, the piano is a bit sus HAHA. It sounds a bit off and that is because I was actually using my apartment's piano (yes we have a literal practice room in our apartment). My school uses this booking system for practice rooms and when I wanted to reserve a room with a piano I found out that those rooms have been booked for the rest of the week LOL. People are really dedicated practicers I guess. I just had to use what I have at the moment haha. The arrangement is inspired by the Undertale 5th Anniversary Concert. MAN THAT CONCERT WAS SPECTACULAR. I was in the chat for the live premier on YouTube and it was an experience I don't think I'll forget. I was literally bawling my eyes out the entire time. Hearing these symphonic arrangements of songs that I held dear to my heart was so inspiring. It's what inspired me to join the Gamer Symphony Orchestra at my school, and it actually helped me continue playing viola. It's so hard for me to describe how much this game means to me and I will have more opportunities to gush about it because more Undertale covers are planned! I'm planning on making this sort of a series. Maybe this will include some Deltarune stuff too but we shall see. Pokémon G/S/C - Ecruteak/Cianwood City (Viola Cover) willimakemusic 2023-09-05 | I haven't done an all-viola arrangement in a while. Here's my cover of Ecruteak/Cianwood City arranged for 3 violas! I hope you enjoy! I remember this feeling of awe when I heard this track for the first time. Even now, I still feel this sense of wonder when I listen to it. I love this track so much C:Excluding that 7 second Super Mario World "Game Over" cover, I think my last viola ensemble cover was Pallet Town about 4 months ago! I want to think I've somewhat improved since then...This was my first attempt at panning. I also experimented a bit more with editing in this one. I still haven't been able to fix the coloring of the video. What you see in the thumbnail is how the video looks on my phone when I record it, but once I put it onto Davinci Resolve it has a different coloring. If you know what I can do to solve this, lmk! Maybe I should look at an actual coloring tutorial instead. I've just been way too scared to touch coloring haha. Speaking of being scared, I was always too scared to play this arrangement xD. Going from usually having a clear center of pitch from a piano/backing track to just relying on my own sense of pitch is daunting. I've been putting off recording this cover for about 2 months! However, one day I decided to just try playing through each part for fun to see "just how bad it is" and this is the end result of that LOL! Although there were a bunch of mistakes I made (one such instance is me rushing towards the end), I think this is an example of me getting in my head too much. Oftentimes what paralyzes me is self-doubt and worrying that I'm not good enough. I often prioritize and crave the validation of others way more than my own thoughts and opinions. Theme of Mitsuha (Your Name/Kimi no Na Wa) - Viola/Piano Cover willimakemusic 2023-08-21 | When I listen to this piece I am reminded about how much I love music. It's hard for me to express how this track makes me feel. When I listen to this, I feel so much longing and nostalgia. I feel love and joy, but also this pit in my stomach. It feels like I'm saying goodbye to a place I really love and that makes my heart heavy. It makes me miss someone who might not even exist yet. When listening to music, there are so many different interpretations and sometimes I find that overwhelming. But I also think that's part of the beauty of music - it's a way of expression without the need for words.❤️My favorite moment in this track is around 3:46. I love how the parts come and intertwine together, sort of like threads of fate. There are moments when the bowings are connected and moments when they separate until they finally come together in the end. Gives me chills every time I listen to the original. I love this movie and the soundtrack is AWE-INSPIRING! It’s literally one of my favorite movies of all time. I remember when I first watched it when I was in high school, and it's really stuck with me ever since. I'm a sucker for love stories and stories that resonate with my heart hahaha, and the gorgeous artwork and music are an added bonus. I must've watched it over 15 times now... Going to watch it one more time now that I finished working on this cover! The piano part was the last thing I played while at my music festival. I’m a novice at the piano, but I really wanna get better. During my time here I made it a goal to practice piano for 10 minutes each day just so I can play this! I took it at a much slower tempo because my hands couldn't keep up xD. Although I made a bunch of mistakes, I’m still proud that I committed to my goal and saw improvement 😊. I hope that I can keep practicing piano and get better! When I first recorded the piano part, I was frustrated at how much background noise there was from everyone else practicing, but it’s OK! Looking at it now, I really like that I can hear people in the background. It makes me feel less lonely and more connected to the people there. It was really hard to say goodbye... I fell in love with the deep culture and the genuine and kind and supportive vibe. I had so much fun getting to know everyone. There are many similarities between the two, but I love this theme so much - it's so emotional. I feel like this track has this uplifting feeling, but there are a lot of melancholic undertones present. Yuna is such an amazing character and a kind soul. I loved watching her develop as a character in this game. She is so strong, selfless, and has so much resilience. I aspire to have her strength and optimism. I am finally back home, but when I came back to my apartment, the ceiling fell down in the bathroom... I came across this super lovely arrangement of Suteki Da Ne arranged by David Peacock and performed by the Videri String Quartet. I couldn't find a place to buy the score, so I decided it would be fun if I tried transcribing it. It was a really good exercise to do and I hope someday I can arrange something for string quartet as well. It was good that the video had the score showing too HAHA because I made a couple errors in my attempt. I thought I should at least share this performance even if my 3 friends were just sightreading. We definitely took it a lot slower than the original but I mean we were sightreading so it's okay! This was actually the last thing we played together, so it's nice that I have this recording to look back on. I can't believe it's already been a couple weeks since this festival ended. My overall thoughts on this festival are very mixed, but I am really fond of this group. I genuinely loved playing in this quartet. I loved hanging out with all of them too. All 3 of them are such awesome people, and they really made the month much better. Happy 22nd anniversary Final Fantasy X! I know I'm SO late haha, but this game really means a lot to me. I found the relationship between Tidus and Yuna very touching. The soundtrack was extremely memorable and I really like the combat and gameplay in this one. After playing this song, I actually had the inspiration to make a cover of Yuna's Theme due to all the similarities. I'm actually working on that one right now. Hope you'll enjoy that one too! I hope you all like it :) Thanks Sami for the help and advice on this arrangement!!!This town theme is so nostalgic. Such a sweet theme. I tried doing something different with this arrangement. This time I started with just solo viola, and added more voices later on. Then when it got to the pizzicato part it got a bit softer. I find that pizz part soooo cute haha. And then you get to see my attempt to play up high at the end. I usually don't write my parts that high, but I did at the end because I wanted it to soar more with that melody. It's definitely not my strong suit, but I'll keep working on it and eventually it'll get better. This is the 3rd Pokemon cover I've made since my vacation ended haha. I actually have a couple more arrangements xD. None of the others have been recorded yet though. I made all of these Pokemon arrangements around the same time and I was trying to figure out ways to make the parts more challenging. Ft. My viola case! I'm currently at a music festival right now. I've been here since the 6/25 and there's no AC. It's pretty hot and humid here. BUT YEAH! I'm surprised I got this one done. This festival is pretty exhausting. It's about 6-8 hours of playing every day in addition to lectures, concerts, and other things. I recorded the audio of this after all of that LOL. Then, the next day on my off time I recorded the video portion of this. This was one of the rare occasions where I had an extra 10 minutes to record a video! Also, I can't for the life of me wake up on time... For me, the day starts around 6:45 AM and I get back to my dorm usually around 10 PM. One Last You (Xenoblade Chronicles 2) - Viola Cover willimakemusic 2023-07-01 | Oh my gosh, I can't believe this is my first Xenoblade cover! I'm so excited to share this with you! Xenoblade is actually my favorite series of all time, but I've been too scared to cover anything from it. It's my own insecurities taking over, telling me that I'm not good enough to play these songs (like literally this one had so many takes but I felt like it was never good enough). But........ I want to do all the Xenoblade vocal tracks before the end of the year :') We shall see LOL. What inspired me to actually start working on this cover was @kmadsmusic. Thank you so much for all your Xenoblade covers! I'm so glad I discovered your channel through them. They inspire me so much and hearing them makes me gain a newfound appreciation for the soundtrack. If you read my last description, you would know that my childhood home is being sold. On my last day at the house, I audio-recorded that section and snuck it into this! A couple years later I gave this game a chance. And the more I played, the more I fell in love. No other show, movie, or any other form of media has ever been able to captivate me as much as this one. Nothing has made me feel so much and I don’t think I can ever forget what it made me feel. It's the game that reignited my love for video games and especially its music. This game just keeps coming back to me. I genuinely feel like this game has so much heart put into it. The story, although pretty cheesy, was just the right amount of cheese for me. (EXCEPT A COUPLE SCENES THAT WERE SUPER CRINGEY TO ME LMAOOOOOO). The music always gets to me. I always get so emotional whenever I listen to this soundtrack. Just popping up the game and seeing the title screen just pulls my heartstrings and makes me cry. The animation is really colorful and warm and the character design is really cool. The music for this is a bit trickier than usual haha. I usually do much slower and more lyrical stuff, but this was a nice change of pace! I am sick at the moment, so I had a bit of trouble focusing. I also had to focus a bit more because of all those string crossings and rhythms. It took me a couple tries to get this take, so I was happy when I finally got it LOL! I decided to try doing a different end card this time. The music in the end screen is my own composition, even though it is heavily inspired by Joe Hisaishi and Yasunori Mitsuda hahaha. Maybe I'll show the whole thing to you all someday :) It's composed for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, and Piano!Alright... so idk if doing this set schedule thing is good for me.
