Winter Haven, FL: Design Workshop TEAM PAIN SKATE PARKS 2020-08-12 | Team Pain’s crew is hard at work at the new skate park in Winter Haven, Florida. This new park is primely located between a main road (US-17) and Polk County’s historic Lake Silver. Winter Haven chose a beautiful and centralized location for this project which features a great view of the lake as well as a large pavilion and picnic tables for shade and relaxing. We have roughly 14,000 sq ft of concrete on the ground divided between a flow bowl and a street course. The street course is a long design that slopes into the grade of the land providing multiple runs across the park at different levels. Features unique to this street course include the multi-use stair set, the A-frame rail and ledge, a super cool wally ledge and a great mix of ledges and rails in between with transition at both ends to maintain flowability. The bowl is a great shape and features many different hip and corner options, a curved extension, a wedge extension hip, and a center island. As the crew fights the heat and the rain to complete this project, we will keep you filled in on a completion date as soon as we know, and any information about a grand opening event!
Design Workshop: Frederick, CO TEAM PAIN SKATE PARKS 2019-11-12 | The new Frederick Skate Park has been created to be like no other park in Colorado. We intend to wrap the users and spectators in a world of color and creative skateable art works. Our goal with the Frederick Skate Park is to provide a fun challenging place for all riders of all levels to gather and feel at home in their environment. Now for the fun part, The Art. The team has carefully picked out areas throughout the park for a host of artists to render their work on concrete features throughout the park, The median of art will be colored concrete, Painting, Acid staining and above ground steel art works. The park is broken up into two areas. The Bowl up on the hill will provide a fast free spirited place for riders to perform maneuvers and will have colored concrete. The street area will be creatively designed with benches, handrails, pyramid, ledges, banks and curbs around the park. Some of the features will be designed as skateable sculptures. There will be a large free standing art work in the center of the park for spectators and passersby and a ridable Full pipe donated by local merchant McDonald Farms. Stay tuned!
Design Workshop: Fayetteville, NC TEAM PAIN SKATE PARKS 2019-11-06 | Fayetteville, NC is getting a new 16,000 square foot concrete skatepark that includes two separate areas and will be located at Rowan Park. Construction began on a competition flow bowl that features many different elements from moguls and extensions to pool coping and endless lines and gaps. This flow bowl will be really fun for both beginners and experienced riders because of the variety of obstacles. The separate multi-level street area was specifically planned into the side of a hill and offers many different lines with a wide variety of features. We strategically placed as many functional obstacles in the street area as possible. As you can see, we’ve included a real grass gap, a long brick stamped china bank, flat bars, handrails in varying heights, ledges with metal or marble/granite edges, an a-frame with bank to bank gap, a unique pole jam ledge, small and large stair sets, the list goes on... The versatility and unique look and functionality is what makes our parks special. Thank you to the City of Fayetteville, Donald Moore from Alpha Builders and especially Terry Grimble, of Daville Skate Shop, for helping to make this project happen!

Design Workshop: Lyons, CO TEAM PAIN SKATE PARKS 2019-04-30 | The community of Lyons, CO had an outdated metal park that they wanted to replace with a modern poured in place skate park. The Town agreed with the community and Team Pain was awarded the design-build project and got to work on the design. The Town had enough funds for a small skate spot and the community wanted a simple skate plaza. Many were in attendance at the first public input meeting and they were extremely happy with the initial concept that included various rails, ledges and street features throughout the design. Some of the riders voiced they also wanted one of their favorite elements from the old park, which was a mini ramp. During the input meeting, we dropped a mini ramp into the 3D design program and realized we could integrate a killer hip into the ramp and everyone was super stoked on the additional features. The Town didn’t have enough funds in the budget to accommodate the mini ramp but committed to finding other sources to fund the additional feature and they commented how this was the best attended meeting ever held with the public! This is a perfect example of what makes the design- build process the recommended approach in custom concrete skate parks. Oh and nice job by the Town, they got the additional funds!Check out the concept of this sweet little community driven skate spark that we are breaking ground on next week!

Formally a wood flow area, our crew is constructing a brand new concrete flow bowl with a design that will appeal to any skill level. We feel proud to have earned the spot to design and build such an important park that will be skated by many of the future campers that visit Woodward camp!
