The effect is to create the impression of a half-solid bird's dropping with black specks surrounding a raised white center. The surrounding looks like a more glossy thinner surface with watery fresh consistency with a drip effect on the lowest margin ending with a little knob.It even added its last preys to the structure of the dung.But what marks it out is its smell. For the most part, the ants just seem to be huddling together with their brood, mostly larvae, prepupae, and pupae. 🐜Time: 0:29One ant tries and fails at exchanging liquid food with another ant. This behaviour is known as "trophallaxis" (stomodeal trophallaxis) which is the exchange of liquid food stored in the ants social stomach to another worker.🐜Time: 0:51 and 2:37The ants are exchanging liquid food (stomodeal trophallaxis). Ants have two stomachs, one for their own usage and another to store liquid food which is regurgitated and dispersed among other members of the colony.🐜Time: 1:03The ant is pressing a larvae against a cocoon. It is just setting it on top. Ants like to stack their brood together (The ant isn't trying to put the larvae in the cocoon). It may be that the vigorous shaking is used to anchor the larvae's hairs against the silk, and the ant is simply trying to find a place to put the larvae down. Ant larvae have micro hairs all over their body which help the worker ants to clump the larvae in a big mass. Since this one is a cocoon the worker needed some extra force to attach this one.🐜🐜🐜Interesting facts:The worker ants use the larvae producing silk together with hemp fibers, leaves and other materials to weave their nest.Adult ants are generally unable to produce silk except in two unusual genera. The larvae produce silk from glands near the labium. However, the adults do not directly harvest larval silk for use in nest construction. They either let the larvae contribute silk to the nest by themselves or will carry larvae to spots which require silk. The cocoons of these ants are relatively thin and poorly contructed. This represents an intermediate step in weaving ants between species which have mostly normal cocoons and species where the larvae do not weave cocoons and donate all of their silk to nest construction. House Centipede Eating a Spider | Viewer Beware David Weiller 2022-08-30 | Centipede (Thereuopoda longicornis) eating a long-jawed orb weaver spider (Leucauge celebesiana) in Sabah, Borneo.••• PLEASE SUBSCRIBE (WITH THE NOTIFICATION 🔔) TO SUPPORT THIS CHANNEL •••Have you ever seen a house centipede darting across your floor at very great speed?Don't worry, they don't bite and are harmless... except if you happen to be another insect such as a spider, a cockroach, an ant, a termite, a bed bug, etc...With up to 15 pairs of legs of undulating thin long legs, they are fast and furious insects that appear to have dozens of undulating thin long legs.It also has 2 long appendages on it's rear-end and 2 long antenna on its head.While its body is only about 25mm to 35mm long, together with their antennae, the centipede looks like being up to 100 mm in length.They can travel 40 cm per second (1.3 ft/s), which helps catching preys.The 2 legs located near the mouth and near the head are modified with a pair of fangs and carry venom.They don’t build traps or webs and are active hunters at night (their eyes are very sensitive to light). Hungry Saddleback Slug Moth Caterpillars David Weiller 2022-05-09 | Saddleback Slug Moth Caterpillars (Acharia) and Ichneumonoidea pupa. La Gamba, Costa Rica.••• PLEASE SUBSCRIBE (WITH THE NOTIFICATION 🔔) TO SUPPORT THIS CHANNEL •••These are all the same slug moth caterpillars found on palm leaf but seen at the different stages: shedding skins and eating with their slug mouth.The first larvae are Acharia nesea. The second set are Acharia hyperoche. These can be distinguished by the oval "saddle" pattern on the dorsum and the lack of a white dot on the anterior brown patch.Notice also the Ichneumon (Campopleginae) wasp cocoons (pupa) with remains of the parasitized caterpillar.In order to survive, the Ichneumonid wasp larva must avoid killing the caterpillar and keeps its immune system alive. Idiobionts paralyze the caterpillar (no more grows and movements). Ichneumonids use both koinobiont and idiobiont strategies. Koinobionts allow the caterpillar to continue to develop. In these two strategies, the caterpillar host dies after a few weeks, after which the ichneumonid larva emerges and pupates.Not to touch as the spines (or urticating hairs) contain toxins that can deliver a nasty sting.The first part of the video; shedding of the skin is sped up 2x-5x (timelapse).The 2nd part of the video; walking caterpillar, is sped up 3x.The last part; eating is in real time (not sped up).☕ Enjoying the videos I upload? In fact, countrary to previous hypotheses, the source of the waterfalls and rivers bright blue color is not cause by chemicals but due to Mie scattering. The rivers upstream are not blue and they contain large concentration of a whitish mineral particles known as aluminosilicate (composed of aluminum, silicon and oxygen). The volcanic activity increases the acidity to high levels and in some stretches of the river, this causes the aluminosilicate particles to reach a diameter of 566nm (instead of 184nm), allowing the sunlight to scatter in the blue lightwave of the spectrum). She can lay 10 and 40 eggs per clutch. Once the eggs are laid, she buries them. The eggs can take about 240 days to hatch.When gravid, females change their colorations to black with orange, light brown or dark brown to signal to males that are not receptive.The Panther's chameleon females can reach about 10cm in length and the males are bigger, about double the size.Chameleons eyes are the most distinctive among the reptiles and they can focus and rotate independently from each other and are able to observe two different objects simultaneously. They are are arboreal and nocturnal and arboreal.Fun Facts: How Do Geckos Change Colour? Mossy-leaf tailed geckos possess dermal flaps around their body which they use to break up their outline.Even without opening their eyes, these gecko alter their skin colors to perfectly match their surroundings such as the coloured bark of a mottled branch.In fact, unlike chameleons, they can sense their suroundings using their skin which contains opsins (a light-sensitive protein) and thus don't need their eyes.
