I made my first piano ballade on this channel, which was a piano improvisation I played that I arranged and orchestrated afterwards. The name ‘UNDER THE STARS’ came to me due to the feeling of the night the composition gave me. I initially made it into a piano waltz, but the length (and themes) kept increasing – so I decided to go all-in on making it a song with a typical three-act structure. Paris Noir MARAN 2023-03-26 | Gypsy jazz-inspired song I composed for piano, violin & cello in FL Studio 21. The composition still has a waltz feel, but still uses chord progressions, melodies and timbres primarily found in jazz (as well as some Latin/salsa influences). I named it 'Paris Noir', because it reminded me a lot of film noir, as well as for the pun -- as I use NOIRE for the piano (although the composition also has some Studio Ghibli-esque instrument selection). I chose the name 'nature documentaries be like:' for this composition, because, for some reason, nature docs are unnecessarily epic and emotional lol. I focused on the violin and cello, making both much louder -- using a call-and-answer structure between both. The piano uses the same motif, and only builds either in lower/higher registers or with some notes added (after the build-up). It’s a sort of modern classical piano piece, with the orchestral backing of a more modern piece (I also added a synthesizer called Sakura, which is a FL Studio 21 default to add some warmth and depth to the song). I decided to make two versions of this piece, with the first one being a piano waltz. The next version I'll probably release tomorrow (which is a longer, orchestral piece). I chose the name 'moonflower', because of the way this plant blossoms over night until the morning dew, with the moon often reflecting on its open flower. Seemed kind of fitting, as I felt this piece had some nocturne like characteristics. This song has a very expressive melody (and later countermelody); the right hand also plays some of the rhythm section with this recurring motif throughout the entire piece. I chose the name 'goodbye.', because the dream-like feel to the song reminded me of reminiscing. I added a whole bunch of reverb, as I imagined this to be a prelude to 'Daydreaming on a Train', so I made it in the same feel. It consists of a pretty simple melody, which I tried to build upon in the rest of the piece, until it's basically just a harmony to the bigger picture as shown in the musical climax. Just like in its successor, I increased the dynamics relatively steadily throughout the entire piece -- this time I even added a master volume automation that statically increases the volume by a tiny amount of decibels. It’s a sort of modern classical piano piece, with the orchestral backing of a more modern piece (I also added a synthesizer called Sakura, which is a FL Studio 20 default to add some warmth and depth to the song). I added orchestral backing; as well as plucked piano strings as ambience (I almost always add them to my pieces), but this time I directed it directly towards the reverb of the string ensemble so that it gives a sort of 'buildup' effect and is less harsh than normally. I wanted to write a solo piano piece for a change, although the next composition will be fully orchestrated again! I made this after getting stung by a wasp and him not wanting to leave afterwards; i tried to emulate both the sound of him flying, and also the buzzing (the embellishments and the lower staccato sections); and decided to also make it unplayable, with weird harmonies and the highlighting of the main melody inside the entire cluster of notes. After the first variation I modulate from g minor to b minor, to add more suspense, along with the sudden legato feel. After the ‘fake ending’ I added the cadenza, an ‘encore’, where everything comes together, it speeds up even more, both staccato & legato and pianissimo & forte are intertwined in a scherzo sort of way. The name is “the impossible waltz”, because it’s unplayable on one piano (or two). I thought it’d be fun to make something where I wasn’t restricted to what’s possible to play, but simply by how I want it to sound. The composition uses multiple piano melodies in various octaves at the same time. I also added a sub bass to the piano notes to add some extra punch to it. This is, of course, impossible to actually play, but I had fun writing it regardless haha. The piano uses many fast runs that are reminiscent of a piano etude by Chopin or Liszt. The name 'daydreaming on a train' is a more literal name than I usually do for my compositions, as I tried to subtly mimic several aspects of a train -- visually you can see railway tracks in the left piano track, musically you can hear the droning notes that are always present somewhere in the background (like the droning ambience whilst on the train), as well as the consistent (poly)rhythmic pulse of the machinery of the train. The structure is also going forward constantly -- the expression of the string ensemble and solo instruments slowly increases towards the climax. I once more added the orchestral backing to the piece, but added much more reverb AND added a synthesizer to add depth and some ambient noises.I used FL Studio automation (tempo and volume). I called it ''Fireplace" partly because of it's calmer nature, and because it's almost Christmas! The melody is a (purposely) very easy one in this one, as is the chord progression. In this composition I wanted to make the variation happen in the details, such as the last few chords of each cycle of the progression and small melodic changes. The string ensemble also builds up until the climax. This is a part 1 - I've already begun making the next parts, that rely more on the string section. I added various elements, such as high plucked ambient notes throughout and volume automated string ensemble to represent confusion and being stuck in your head. the matador MARAN 2022-10-30 | Song I made for acoustic/flamenco guitar, violin, Spanish percussion & string ensemble in FL Studio 20 (visuals inspired by @AZALI ). I wanted to make a musical piece where flamenco guitar was the most prominent instrument, and when I found a vst for cajon, I knew I had to make this lol. Also used multiple castanets and tambourine one-shot samples, a rim stick sample for a quiet snare and a modern kickdrum that grounds the cajon. The string ensemble is Cinematic Strings. Violin is by Alpine Project. Guitar is the RealGuitar by MusicLab. Cajon is The New Cajon and Bongo by 8Dio (free). Wanted to give a feeling of peace, coziness, happiness and tranquility of a normal day in a tiny village in a JRPG. I made this sad song about melancholy today in the vibe of romantic composers, such as Chopin, while still using modern accompanying instruments. This time I increased the volume of the violin and added more reverb, because it's part of the call-and-answer with the piano melody.
