Our cities often consist primarily of buildings and roads, leaving little space for nature. With urban nature-based solutions, we can use buildings, other built structures and neighbourhoods to improve citizens’ lives and preserve natural ecosystems.
In this film we explore the case of Ekostaden Augustenborg, a neighbourhood in Malmö, Sweden, whose efforts have led to a 50% increase in biodiversity, reduced carbon emissions and improved resilience to flooding. Through open stormwater systems, green roofs, and expanded green spaces they have transitioned to an environmentally and socially sustainable place to live.
