The Yamaha MT8XII is working as a mixer in this case. Adding a suboctave from STG’s . com module. Recorded with Tascam DR-40X!Just some fun Eb Myxolydian jamming to brighten your day!
STG Soundlabs sequence + BARP 2600 noodles mootbooxle 2022-10-27 | The #STGSoundlabs Radiophonic Two synthesizer makes a great companion to the #BARP2600. Here it is supplying a sequence via the Korg SQ-1 while I noodle about on the BARP. The only FX you are hearing is the spring reverb on the 2600. I recorded this little ditty on my Yamaha MT8XII (the best tape machine ever) but what you are hearing is direct audio from its output into the Tascam DR-40X. I was experimenting with some cool tricks on the 2600…Using the Lag processor to apply portamento to only one oscillator (classic Tony Banks trick) and also using the Trig out into the S&H clock input to get a new voltage with each key press. The S&H is sampling a sawtooth wave (I find this more pleasant than sampling noise most of the time) and controlling the filter. The keyboard controller for the BARP is a Yamaha CBX-K2. UNO Synth Pro Organ Solo! mootbooxle 2022-10-27 | The UNO Synth Pro from IK Multimedia is a powerful little machine! This is a three oscillator patch with the internal drive and modulation FX - sounds incredibly Hammond organ-like! This thing has the top-of-the-line Fatar keybed- same as the one in my Minimoog! And it has very programmable aftertouch.
BARP 2600 and STG Soundlabs Duophonic Fun! mootbooxle 2022-10-23 | Just doing what I love to do when I have time…Sitting in the floor amongst a pile of synthesizers, experimenting and jamming away…This is just a test of the audio fidelity of my Tascam DR-40X as audio interface! I am so far completely impressed with the features of this thing. Here’s some silly duophonic fun using the Behringer 2600 as the main voice and the STG Soundlabs Radiophonic Two as the upper voice. The Hold feature of the STG soundlabs envelope generator makes it ideal for adding dimension to layered patches. The drums and pre-programmed sequence are coming from Logic Pro X - just playing along with the incoming MIDI. I have tons of things to share, I just pretty much forgot how to edit videos…there’s been a mental block there big time! Editing has been the main reason I haven’t been more prolific on this platform. It is easily my least favorite part of any creative process! Thanks for your support all these years. I've been laying low for a year and a half, going through major changes, and you're looking at one of them! I have been a Yamaha fan since I got my first Yamaha keyboards in the late 80s (both of which, the PSS-470 and PSS-140, are in this video), but I became completely obsessed with Yamaha gear from around 1980-1997 or so. This studio setup features a large portion of my collection, all connected and working great!I decided that the evergreen Marcia Griffiths dance tune, "Electric Boogie", known to most as just "the electric slide", wasn't danceable enough in 4/4. So I remade it in 15/16. Yamaha PS-55 | Moot Booxle mootbooxle 2021-11-23 | Here's a fun little ditty on the Yamaha PS-55 keyboard from 1983. This instrument was made before FM synthesis took over Yamaha's entire lineup. Instead of FM, this keyboard is apparently entirely based on short PCM samples, giving it a sound unlike anything that would come later. This was the first Yamaha keyboard to include PCM sampled drums and percussion. Yamaha PSS Space Ritual | Moot Booxle mootbooxle 2021-09-02 | It's so nice to be back. I can't promise how frequent the uploads will be, but by a miracle I finally have a setup to film and edit videos again! I filmed a few looper jams with this rig recently - it is special because it encompasses a bit of Yamaha history. As you can see, I'm a tad obsessed with vintage Yamaha gear. This setup consists of the PS-3, which, along with the PS-1 and PS-2, was the first Portasound keyboard, released in 1980. To its right is the newest PSS keyboard, the PSS-A50 released in 2019. Above it is the PSS-140 from 1988 which was my first keyboard when I was 5 years old back then. The mixer is a Tascam MM-1. The FX consist of a Flamma FS02 reverb and Strymon El Capistan echo. The looper is a Boss RC-202. This was captured directly to iPhone X via a Behringer UMC404HD interface. Mastered in Logic Pro X. Video edited in Final Cut Pro X. I'm not a big fan of Apple the company but I do love their computers because they work. I've been experimenting with all sorts of guitar-type sounds using it. Last night at Sound Check Studios I ran it through my fancy Re-Amp setup into our 200-Watt Marshall Major with a 4x12 cabinet. Endless streams of gratuitous noodling ensued. At the end is a short clip from a previous session in which I explained the entire signal path.
