About the poem - In this poem Ulysses, addressing his audience, describes his restlessness and vexation at returning to his kingdom, to his old wife and son. After his extensive travels and adventures he yearns to return back to the life of a wanderer even though old age threatens to take over.
About the poet - Alfred Lord Tennyson (1809 -- 1892) was Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom during much of Queen Victoria's reign. Tennyson was born in Somersby, Lincolnshire. Tennyson excelled at penning short lyrics. He is one of the most quoted poets in the English language.
