Carbon Fiber Rally Light Pod. ⛛ Cyberpunk Miata Build Tofu Auto Works 2024-06-21 | In this video I really wanted to challenge myself and go outside of my comfort zone. Starting off by designing a CAD model for a new rally inspired light bar, I then 3D printed a set of moulds and used those to create the final part out of vacuum bagged carbon fiber.This was my first time making a complex shape out of carbon and so things didn't go perfectly to plan but I am still happy with the outcome. 3D Printed Widebody! Sky-gea Build: Part 24 Tofu Auto Works 2023-12-17 | We finally move on to the second side of this widebody and in this episode we make a start on assembling and test fitting the 3D prints. These parts have been printing off in the background for the past couple months. Unfortunately I ran into some issues with warping and so I have to re-print the rear flare, but that was going to take too long to fit into this episode so it's a slightly shorter one this time.Also a short announcement that this will be my last video for a little while, most likely a couple of months as I focus more on completing this build than filming and editing. Cyberpunk Miata Build: The Chimera Tofu Auto Works 2023-11-19 | With V3.0 of this build I wanted to move away from the soft lines of the original Miata and create something much more menacing. In this video I tear down the rear end, and install a new FD Rx7 front end, earning the car it's new nickname, the Chimera. The name Chimera comes from Greek mythology and is a fire-breathing hybrid with a serpent's tail, a goats body and the head of a lion. This represents the many different changes and parts from different vehicles that have gone into this car.In this episode we start tearing down the car and so you'll see me take a lot of important pieces off the car, but most of these will be improved and reinstalled on the new build. One issue that I've had with this car is that it hasn't felt "cyberpunk" enough to me, and so I decided to strip everything off and start again from the ground up, this time adding even more details to make it feel like it belongs on a movie set.Needless to say, this is only the first rough mock up so don't judge the finish, but get excited about what's to come.Enjoy the video.Please consider supporting me on Patreon. In this video I try out a new method and make mistakes so that you don't have to.In recap, jointing compound works great as a plug for a one off part like my mx5 fastback roof where the plug is skinned in fiberglass and then the final product is filled and sanded. First GTR conversion fender DONE! Sky-gea build: Part 6 Tofu Auto Works 2022-12-30 | Happy Holidays everybody! I've been hard at work over the past few weeks trying to wrap up the shaping on these plugs so we can get into the fiberglass stage. The Miatas first time on Track!【 Mad Mikes Summer Bash 2022 】 Tofu Auto Works 2022-12-06 | Something a little different this time as we bring you along for the Mad Mike Summer Bash 2022 featuring open track drifting, cruising, show and shine, gymkhana, and the Summer Bash Drift Tournament.This was also the first official shakedown for the mx5 and the first ever time on track. Overall the car performed amazingly even though it was never build for this sort of thing. It was an awesome day and I really enjoyed getting to catch up with a bunch of you and talking about the build. The body filler begins! Sky-gea build: Part 4 Tofu Auto Works 2022-11-18 | In this video we finish up the welding by completing the second fender and then we make a start on the body filler. This stage is one of the most difficult parts of the build as I need to get both fenders identical and fitting perfectly before I can make my moulds. Making the GTR conversion fenders! Sky-gea build: Part 3 Tofu Auto Works 2022-11-04 | In this episode we weld together the first of the conversion fenders for the GTR Stagea build. These metal fenders will be covered in body filler and used as plugs to make a set of fiberglass moulds. Then the metal fenders will be discarded and new ones will be made out of fiberglass.This episode is one of the longest I have uploaded so please let me know if you're enjoying the longer formats. Fitting the bumper and Headlights. Sky-gea build: Part 2 Tofu Auto Works 2022-10-21 | In this episode we'll be test fitting the headlights and front bumper and making some temporary brackets to hold everything in place. The GTR headlights are a bit too large to fit with the factory Stagea front end so some trimming was required. I really wanted to make the completed metal bracket for the front bumper in this episode but that will have to wait until the guards are on and I know the final positions of everything.
