Launched in March 2022 by scholars and students from the Central European University, the Invisible University for Ukraine provides a safe and stimulating academic space for Ukrainian students amidst the Russian invasion. This initiative leverages the support of numerous academics and institutions in Europe and North America to foster intellectual resilience and pluralism. The project offers an inclusive, dialogical learning environment that connects students with renowned scholars, allowing them to contribute to knowledge production even during wartime. The program also features a mentoring system and specialized platforms such as the Invisible Graduate School to support deeper research. Invisible University for Ukraine (IUFU), an initiative of Central European University, started in spring 2022, just months after Russia’s initial invasion. Since then, thousands of Ukrainian students have taken courses taught by hundreds of faculty from across Europe and beyond. The program’s objective is help sustain intellectual growth in the midst of incredible hardships.
Speakers include IUFU co-director Balazs Trencsenyi and student assistant Natalia Shuliakova.
