On 24 February 2022, Russia began its full-scale and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and thus began the second chapter of Russia's unprovoked aggression against Ukraine which started in February 2014, when Russia took over Crimea and the Donbas region. This conflict has been the largest and deadliest war in Europe since World War II. No one knows the exact number of Ukrainians—civilian and military—who have died in this war. Estimates vary between 140,000 and 200,000. The number of Russian soldiers, dead and wounded, are also staggering. Some say, around one million. The infrastructure destruction in Ukraine is overwhelming and will take years to rebuild.
