Scrabble expert nearly gets stuck with... a T??? Mack Meller 2024-10-15 | In a recent game I played against my friend and longtime expert Steve Bush, he made a move near the end of the game that seemed like his best choice by far. Probably 99%, if not more, of other experts would've made the same play.But it turns out that Steve's play left him vulnerable to a dangerous and almost unfathomable trap that he was lucky to avoid. With certain draws, he could've gotten stuck with an unplayable tile in the endgame, leading to certain defeat.What makes this position crazy, though, is the tile he'd have gotten stuck with. It wasn't a Q or a V like we see pretty often. It wasn't even something like a G or U which is rarer but not unheard of. It was... a T! Yes, a T! A tile that makes no less than 8 two-letter words and is one of the most flexible consonants in the bag.How on earth did this happen? You'll have to watch to find out!

Mack Meller 2024-08-27 | It's been a while since I've updated my viewers on my longstanding challenge to create the highest-scoring Scrabble game with all bingos that ends in a tie. My original score of 1010-1010 has been beaten so many times it now feels like a lifetime ago. My 2024 Scrabble Players Championship win in the decisive game 5 of the finals was a notable example, but certainly not the only one, even of this past summer.The 2024 Word Cup in Albuquerque, New Mexico, another 5-day event with a $10,000 top prize, came down to a showdown between two-time defending champ Jackson Smylie and longtime top player Rafi Stern. Jackson had the edge, but then pulled a nightmare draw out of the tile bag, getting FOUR A's on the same rack. Could he possibly keep his scoring train going with such horrendous tiles and win an unprecedented third consecutive title?

He pulled off a Scrabble miracle. Then, the next day, he did it again. Mack Meller 2024-08-20 | There are certain principles in Scrabble that every expert knows, and it's only on freak occasions that a top player slips up and forgets them. So you can imagine the Scrabble world's shock when top expert Joey Krafchick's opponent, another top player, blundered and Joey capitalized with a stunning outbingo to win by a SINGLE POINT. Then, as if that wasn't enough, Joey did it again the very next day. Facing a different top player, Joey's chances were all but written off when a series of errors from his opponent and some sharp play by Joey led to another miraculous Joey victory by... you guys guessed it, a SINGLE POINT.

Scrabble Blitz Battle vs. Chloe Fatsis! Mack Meller 2024-08-17 | Chloe Fatsis has been on a roll in Scrabble lately, finishing 4th at the Scrabble Players Championship just a week weeks ago (in her first division 1 appearance at Nationals!) and reaching a new ranking of #13 in North America. Sometimes its better to be lucky than good at Scrabble Mack Meller 2024-08-15 | In order to win a North American Scrabble Championship, you need to be really, really good at Scrabble. There's very little room for error when you're playing 5 grueling days of Scrabble against some of the best competition. But no one, even the great Mack Meller, can win without some luck.I got no bigger strokes of luck than in my round 11 match against longtime expert Jason Li. And given the way I played, this luck was not exactly deserved. But sometimes, that's just the way this game goes...

I thought this Scrabble game didnt matter, but it may have won me a Championship Mack Meller 2024-08-13 | I had done well enough at the 2024 Scrabble Players Championship to clinch a berth in the final following Round 26, so my Round 28 match against longtime expert Chris Cree didn't really matter. Other than a few rating points and some pride, I had nothing to play for.Or... so it would seem. It wasn't until after the tournament ended that I realized this game actually had a far more significant impact than I could've ever foreseen. How is that possible? It was a crazy sequence of events - and a crazy game! - so you'll want to be sure to find out!
