This theme reminds me that the electric guitar sound wasn't always terrible .-. I joke, I joke...
I guess ZUN tried to make this theme tense, but also wrestled with it needing to sound tame as it's only the first boss? The instruments sound like they're trying to fight over being threatening and fun at the same time. Maybe to represent the power of mice, since ZUN seems to have poor childhood memories

The Stage 2 theme from Touhou 12: Undefined Fantastic Object
Honestly, in the 11 years since the original upload my feelings for this theme havent changed much. If anything Im more nostalgic (especially since the game has now gone from being 2 years old to 12 years old LOL). But, I have now learnt why the theme is called the way it is, thanks to the Wiki, so at least thats something?
I will say, I find the lead-up to the main melody a little boring, but it still fits, feeling like fighting through thick cloud to finally break through to a blue sky. Although unfortunately its the piece that arrangers focus on, but I suppose its understandable.
Finally, this image is very old, and is something I would have avoided 10 years ago because everyone was using it and i wanted to seem unique lol.
I guess Im over that now, or the fandom is so new that people wouldnt recognise it? Who knows. I was surprised to see it up on the artists page still, at least.
