Lenexa Chili Fest 2024 Argyle302 2024-10-17 | A short video of the Lenexa Chili Challenge, which was held on October 11th and 12th, 2024. This video is during the festivities Saturday morning on the 12th. The temperature was already up to 71° by 10:00 AM, so it was a wonderfully warm Fall morning, but for whatever reason, the crowd seemed to be a little bit less than the year before when temperatures were in the 50's. The Downtown Overland Park Car Meet - October 5th, 2024 Argyle302 2024-10-14 | It was another beautiful evening, so I decided to head up to the Downtown Overland Park Car Meet, which is held on the first Saturday of each month, at the parking lot where the old car was use to be in downtown Overland Park, Kansas. I arrived a bit late, so I had to park in the lame B lot. The unique car that turned out for this even was a white 1970's Oldsmobile Toronado that a guy named Kent has been busy restoring for the last two years. President Trump Rally & Parade At Shawnee Mission Park - Saturday October 5th, 2024 Argyle302 2024-10-09 | Folks, it is finally here! Another long-awaited President Trump Rally & Parade! I drove my Miata out to Shawnee Mission Park, out in Shawnee, Kansas on this Saturday afternoon on October 5th, 2024. I arrived early, but there were already many Trump enthusiasts on the scene. The cars, trucks and bikes were beginning to line up in the parking lot, and rally even was being set up in Shelter #1 across the road.As I like to do, I walked through the array of cars with my camera, and took in all the fun. The car parade began about 4:00 PM, as the cars started streaming out, on their way to take a route through the heart of Shawnee, Kansas and then loop back. Afterwards, food and beverages were available under the shelter, while President Trump was giving a speech "live" when he was back in Butler, Pennsylvania, on the screen they had set up under the shelter. Once again, it was a fabulous time, mingling with other fellow conservatives, hoping and praying that Trump can win again in November and save our country! How I Attended Four Car Shows In One Day! Saturday, September 28th, 2024 Argyle302 2024-10-02 | On this Saturday, I decided I was going to try and attend four different car shows in one day. The most I had ever done before was two car shows in one day, so I wasn't sure if I was up to the task or not, or if it was even possible. How did I pull it off? Watch the video and find out!1. Cars & Coffee at Life Church in Olathe, Kansas2. Caffeine & Chrome at Gateway Classic Cars in Olathe, Kansas3. Pirates Of The Tarmac Car Show at Indian Motorcycle in Olathe, Kansas4. Mid America Club Car Show at Embassy Suites in Olathe, KansasI was determined to get a good spot at the first morning car show, I woke at 6:20 AM, got ready and headed out to the Life Church Cars & Coffee, 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM. I arrived on the scene at about 7:10 AM, and was the 10th car to show up early. About 7:25 AM, the cars started rolling into the parking lot, and it was practically full by 7:45 AM.Next up was Gateway Classic Cars Caffeine & Chrome, so I left the Cars & Coffee about 10:00 AM and headed west. Gateways even runs 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. They had a decent turnout there, with a Corvette club taking up most of the side lot. I also took a walk through their warehouse, full of consignment cars for sale.After another cup of coffee there, I decided to hit the next car show on my list: Indian Motorcycle, which was having an even labeled "Pirates Of The Tarmac Car Show", which was located off South Lone Elm Road in Olathe, Kansas also. I arrived there approximately 11:00 AM, and checked out their motorcycles and Cam-Ams. not many cars showed up for their car show, which was from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.Then I haded to my fourth and last even on my list; a Mid America Club Car Show at the Olathe Embassy Suites off Ridgeview Road. Once I arrived there at about 12:00 OM noon, I checked out all the Chevelle's and El Camino's on display there. I was pretty tired by about 12:40 PM, so I decided it was time to call it a day and head back home. I made it back by 1:00 PM. I believe 6 hours worth of car shows in one day was about enough.The main car show I initially was going to attend, The Sallas Auto Car Show, I wasn't able to make it to, which was held over on the Missouri side, 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. It was just too far out of the way, simultaneously with the other ones. If it was scheduled for a little later in the day, I might hav been able to do 5 cars shows total. A Miata Drive To Cars & Coffee At KC Auto Museum - Saturday, September 21st, 2024 Argyle302 2024-09-24 | I woke up extra early and drove the 2011 Miata to the Cars & Coffee at the Kansas City Automotive Museum out in Olathe, Kansas. It was cloudy morning, with a good change of rain, but I decided to go anyways. I arrived in the scene at about 7:25 AM, which made me the 1st one there. I'm sure most others didn't want to get their cars out in the rain. Usually getting there by 7:30 AM, you'd be lucky to get a spot in the main lot.After a bit a few others started to arrive. Moments later, the rains began. The KC Auto Museum guys started setting up a rain cover for attendees to get under out of the rain. Eventually the rains let up, and a car show ensued. All in all, about 45 to 50 brave souls defied the rain gods, and decided rain would not deter their love of cars. A few other Miata owners showed up as well and parked close to me. For the drive back, I happened upon a hidden parking lot full Tesla's and Cybertrucks. I was perplexed as to why they were all there. Downtown Overland Park Car Meet - September 7th, 2024 Argyle302 2024-09-09 | I was busy earlier in the day getting my 1995 Miata ready to show to someone that ended up buying it. I was so relieved by exhausted by the time they drove off with it, all the way back to Arkansas. Anyways, this prevented me from going to a few car shows during the day, so I was excited about taking my newer 2011 Miata to its first car meet.They hold these car meet events on the first Saturday of every month, year round, unless bad weather, of course. This Saturday evening, it was very mild out, in the lower 70's, so the event had a great turnout.One guy showed up with a very nice Shelby GT 500, a few others with their Camaros, Corvettes and Chevelles. At about 7:15, some of us joined in on a group ride down Metcalf to Chuck E Cheese, then with a return drive back. A few got into a few friendly drags here n there along the way.Overall it was a fun car meet. Once it got a lil dark, I decided to pack it in, and journey back home in the Miata. Life Church Cars & Coffee - August 31st, 2024 Argyle302 2024-09-02 | I woke up extra early, drove over to get my late brothers Corvette, and then headed out to the Life Church Cars & Coffee car meet. I finally arrived about 7:50 AM, and got a good parking spot. The lot was filling up FAST. By 8:15 AM, the lot was jammed packed. I'd say it was the biggest turnout that I've seen at this Summer monthly event. Off to the East side their church, car enthusiasts were parking in the grass field. A wide variety of cars, trucks and bikes were on hand. The "best in show" in my eyes, was the Gold S2000 ( Ford?? ). Other unique rides were a rock climber, and a Hellcat Jeep, and a nice RX-7 convertible. Also check out the chap riding a white briefcase around. I had a few parties that were interested in my brothers Corvette, but none of them were committed to buying at the moment. Once I got back to my brothers house, I received a text for a reasonable cash offer "today". And shortly there after, they arrived ( with 2 other "interested parties" trying to get there as well. I reached a deal with Kathy & Steve shortly after they arrived, and I finally sold the Vette. Steve assured me that the car was finding a good home. It would end up being Kathy's car after some fixing up. The last part of this video is a short tribute to my late brother Cecil's Corvette, driving off for the last time. A Drive To The Lake Jacomo Miata Meet Up - August 18th, 2024 Argyle302 2024-08-21 | In this video I hop into my 95 NA Miata and take a drive East over to Lake Jacomo in Blue Springs, Missouri for a Miata meet up, hosted by Riley of the Kansas City Miata Club on Facebook. It was a mostly cloudy day with a slight chance of rain, so I did get hit by a few raindrops on my way out there, but nothing serious. Once I got there, only a few Miatas were there so far. They told me the event had been delayed an hour because of rain, so we had to wait around an hour for some of the others to show.Once 5 PM rolled around, we ended up with about 8 to 10 Miatas total, and about 10 other cars and a motorcycle. Not too bad, considering the looming threat of rain. Check out the nice RX-7 in the photos, very nice! After about an hour of socializing and talking Miata shop, we decided to do a group cruise around the lake. For this drive, I magnet mounted my Wolfang GA420 action cameras to the front and back of my NA Miata. They drove a little fast for my taste, but I was able to keep up fairly well. We U-turned at one spot and headed back to the marina parking lot. We lost a few along the way, whether they were headed back home, or just took a wrong turn.Shortly after, it was time for me to head back home. Both there and back, I put my top up and used the AC, which I've probably used 3 or 4 times on 8 years. Cars & Coffee At The KC Auto Museum - Saturday August 17th, 2024 Argyle302 2024-08-19 | I rolled out of bed early to go pick up my late brothers 1982 Chevrolet Corvette and drove it to the Cars & Coffee at the Kansas City Auto Museum in Olathe, Kansas. I arrived about 10 minutes before the start, which was 8:00 AM, and I still didn't get a spot in the main parking lot. I threw the For Sale sign on the Corvette and enjoyed the car show. It was a great turnout, and there were a few standout cars, especially the wild C3 Corvette which was raised up high off the ground with a 2 carb tunnel ram setup on the engine. The morning was a bit cool, but quickly heated up in an hour. A Drive To Joplin, Missouri - A Quest For A Miata Argyle302 2024-08-19 | In this video my neighbor Sandy and I take a road trip down to Joplin, Missouri in the Volkswagen Jetta to check out an NC Miata I was interested in buying. We started the video off in Leawood and take 150 Highway to 71/49 South. In this video I point out many of the mile markers along the way. Once we arrived at our final destination, which turned out to be a small strip on the iconic Route 66, I checked out the Miata. Cars & Coffee At Life Church - July 27th, 2024 Argyle302 2024-07-29 | I set my alarm clock and tried to get out of the house as early as possible to make it to the Cars & Coffee car show at Life Church around 8:00 AM to get a good parking spot. I arrived onto the scene about 8:15 AM, and I landed one of the few remaining parking spots available. Almost got to park next to another red Miata, but a few cars ahead of me stole the two spaces beside the other NA. Argh!Anyways, it turned out to be another terrific turn-out for Cars & Coffee. All kinds of American muscle cars and imports were on hand. Two standout autos were a blown V8 Nash, which was basically a tiny car with a monster engine, and a Chevy truck which looks like it was equipped with twin turbos and 3 canisters of Nitrous Oxide for major boostage!I stuck around til about 1:00 AM, when most cars were leaving, so stick around until the end to watch my drive through the parking lot before heading home. Below the Liberty Memorial Tower is the underground National World War One Museum And Memorial, the largest set of WW1 artifacts in the United States. Downtown Overland Park Car Meet Up - July 6th, 2024 Argyle302 2024-07-08 | I got all ready for a car meet up that was suppose to happen out in South Overland Park, at the B & B Theater, but when I got there at about 6:30 PM, there was no car meet up happening at all. The only people in the big parking lot was people parking to go see a movie at the theater there.Discouraged, I remembered the car meet at the old car wash site in Downtown Overland Park, so I decided to try that out. Luckily, there actually was a car meet up happening there. Some very cool cars showed up, even a few racing Camaros. For these photos, I was trying out a Canon EOS T7 digital camera that a friend at work wanted me to test out. It was a bit awkward in handling the big clunky camera, but I think the photos turned out quite nicely. The Canon camera takes 24MP shots, so the better be good. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the video. Life Church Cars & Coffee - June 29th, 2024 Argyle302 2024-06-30 | I crawled out of bed early Saturday morning early enough to climb in my Miata and drive out south to catch the Life Church Cars & Coffee for my first time. Fortunately, I did because this was a great car meet-up, there was a huge turnout! The church has a nice size parking lot, and it was packed full! Even the back parking lot and the side parking lots were full. The turnout was so big, four different police cruisers showed up to police the even, cute in case, I guess. The weather was overcast, nice and cool, and some rain was on the brink of blowing in from the South. Near the end, a Cybertruck showed up to the event. The fun part is watching all the cool cars leave the parking lot. On my drive back home, I caught a few raindrops on my Miata. The All American Indoor Sports Car Show - June 22nd, 2024 Argyle302 2024-06-25 | This is a video I made of All American Indoor Sports Car Show which was held on Saturday evening on June 22nd, 2024, from 5 to 9 PM. It was a hot and muggy evening, the temperature being in the low 90° and about 50% humidity. But despite the heat, they had a really good turnout. In the back of the parking lot was a nice group of Nissan 300ZX's, and in the side parking lot a group of Hyundai enthusiasts. I enjoyed seeing a few Miata's, old and new. I chatted with Will of Will's Wheels a bit. He was busy doing his thing. After about an hour, I had enough of the heat and headed back home. One dark-haired bearded & glasses guy with a dark green shirt and orange shorts kept showing up in my camera view, who knows how many shots he photobombed on me. Why Using An Old iPhone Camera As An Action Camera Is A Bad Idea Argyle302 2024-06-22 | I had some free time ,s oI tried an experiment. How would my old iPhone camera work as an action camera? The video footage from its 4K camera looks so much better than footage from my 4K action cameras, so why wouldn't it work?I mounted my old iPhone 7 to my Miata using my magnet camera mount with a phone attachment. Then I proceeded to take a slow and easy drive around the block, and then examine the footage after. Unfortunately, this iPhone 7 camera doesn't have any kind of a built in stabilizer, whether mechanical or digital. Thus the footage was subpar. It resulted in video footage that displayed plenty of "jello effect" in it. At the end of this video, I have a portion of the clip that was ran thru CapCut's stabilization feature, to see if it would help.So, all in all, it's not a good idea to use an older cell phone camera for an action camera, unless it does have built in stabilization.Maybe in the future I will try and do this same experiment, but with a cell phone with 4K and stabilization. KC Auto Museum Cars & Coffee Car Show - Saturday, June 15th, 2024 Argyle302 2024-06-22 | I got up early and made it to the Kansas Auto Museum Cars & Coffee car show. As I was driving dow the street there, I passed my nephew Alex, who was on his way to work that morning. Anyways, it was a good turnout, as the heavy cloud cover kept the temperature down, and although it rained slightly to the East of the event, the event didn't get any rain at all. I chatted with a guy named Chris, who spotted my Miata as I was parking. Him and his GF Alyssa each drove a Miata to the event; a 1991 red Miata and a newer red ND Miata. His was in very good condition. Also there was a "Texas Stallion", an AC Cobra look-a-like. The owner said there was only 10 of these made. Further on down the lot was a CyberTruck. This is the 6th one I've seen in the Kansas City area, thus far. There was a yellow Honda S2000 leaving at one point, that I wasn't able to get any photos of. Oh well, I cant catch all of them. It had rained the night before which made the late morning and early afternoon very humid, making it feel in the mid 90's when the temperature was only in the mid 80's.
