MPP Euro Trip 2022 - Grip Spain - Parcmotor Castelloli - 1:53.7 - 2ND Overall Mountain Pass Performance 2022-10-27 | On October 22nd, we had the privilege of visiting one of the most beautiful circuits in the world - Parcmotor Castelloli. Set in the stunning hills just outside of Barcelona, the circuit features a cross-over bridge and has cliffs in close proximity to the track. Video simply does not do the track justice, as the size of the surrounding hills and the elevation change are far more substantial in real life. The track really feels like something straight out of Gran Turismo - a mix between Grand Valley Speedway and Trial Mountain. Our Euro 2022 Model 3, equipped with most of the MPP catalog, as well as our good friend Christopher from France, made the journey for Grip Spain's lapping and time attack.The organizers were fantastic, and we have to thank them for allowing us to attend the event and being so welcoming. So far I have to say that events run in Spain are at the same level, or exceed the level of North American events - even though they are operating in a smaller market. The passion really fuels them to do such a great job with everything! KERS Kels Live Tire Temp Overlay (Like A Videogame) Mountain Pass Performance 2022-09-13 | Using IZZE racing tire temp sensors and TTPMS sensors we learn a little bit about tires while pounding around with Kels. The dash shown in the overlay in this video matches what was displayed while driving. Useful? Argue in the comments below if you have nothing better to do with your time.Our hybird-electric KERS Kels is finally starting to get a little bit more refined, running for two events without any major issues. We'll keep fine-tuning until the car is dialed in.The fastest lap here was a 1:10.9 with the hybrid system at 40hp. So not as fast as Kels has gone before, but +200lbs will do that to you. Surely with the hybrid system turned up and some weight reduction we should be able to beat our previous best of a 1:09.3, which was set on sticker tires in cool conditions. MPP Equipped Street Car Model 3 At TMP - 1:14.9!!!! Mountain Pass Performance 2022-07-12 | Absolutely unreal that a street-prepped car can do a 1:14 at TMP. We never would have believed it. The MoTeC C125 did show a 1:15.0, but the Tesla Lap Timer showed a 1:14.9. So we'll go with that.We were at the track to meet our friend Igor, as he was attempting to set a lap record at TMP with a race-equipped Model 3. Igor made a good point - we've never actually "gone for it" with our Model 3 at TMP, so this was a good excuse to see how quickly we could go with our 100% street setup! Thankfully we were able to keep the home track record in Canada for now, but we'll need to equip some slicks sooner than later if we want to hold on to it! It's nice to have some competition coming up to TMP!Igor did a 1:15.6 or so, which is still very impressive even on slicks as there are many much lighter time attack cars on slicks that are in the 1:14s or 1:15s. MPP.R Tesla Model S Plaid At TMP - Street Tire Record? 1:14.7 Mountain Pass Performance 2022-03-21 | The MPP.R Plaid gets out for its first shakedown of 2022. The track is wet, oiled down. The driving is cautious after the events of 2021. A 1:13 is certainly possible as this lap has many mistakes!The car is so incredibly fun to drive now - with Track Mode the car is allowed to put the power down aggressively and it's a joy to try to control the 1000hp on tap coming out of each corner. What a beast!As far as we know, no car has ever gone this fast on a standard street tire (non R-Compound or racing slick). It's impressive because there is still more in it, and this is a relatively small and tight track. TeamPGR will be picking the car up shortly, and we'll continue our testing down south in preparation for One Lap Of America 2022. Onboard At Mosport (CTMP) With Our Hybrid-Electric 350z. In the 1:16s!!!!!! (Almost wrecked too) Mountain Pass Performance 2020-10-01 | We felt Hybrid Kels was ready to attack Mosport. After a couple of successful test days at Toronto Motorsports Park, we head to North America's fastest track with our very experimental racecar. It goes surprisingly well. The car is like some ridiculous video game. As far as we know, there is no non-factory racecar that has gone faster here. Unfortunately, the party came to an end when a near wreck at 130mph left us feeling like we should call it a day. Whether it was a little bit too aggressive setup, an alignment shift, or a slightly overheated left rear tire we will have to figure out. All we know at this moment is that Kels is normally 100% stable on high-speed corner entry, and towards the end of the video you'll see - she very much was not! Enjoy!A 1:16.9 is on track with the fastest GT cars in the world, and is only a few tenths away from IMSA GTD pole here. Mountain Pass Performance 2019-11-07 | We decided to put a Performance Model 3 on the dyno while we had it in the shop for some development work. Kels The 350z Racecar Finally Does a 1:18 At Mosport. Onboard with Sasha Anis Mountain Pass Performance 2019-09-18 | If you've been following the progress of this car since 2008, you'll know it has been our goal to develop this car to the point where it will do circa-2005 GT2 lap times at Mosport. GT2 cars of that day had a top speed around 150mph on the back straight and were not allow aggressive aerodynamics. At that time they still have special tires that could not be purchased by the public. The cars were factory built and designed to compete with one another. It's been 11 years and Kels has come from a stock-bodied Koni Challenge GS car to what you might consider a real GT3 car now. The car has a sequential gearbox, 500whp, a flat-floor and diffuser, race ABS, and big sticky tires. While we don't have even a fraction of the budget or resources of a manufacturer, Kels shows that with enough time and effort it's not impossible to get close to the factory's level of performance. Of course, none of this would be possible without our amazing sponsors and suppliers. Jim Wolf Technology are the ones responsible for this incredible engine, MoTeC has the most impressive motorsport electronics in the world. Without partners of this caliber, we would, of course, be nowhere near the current speed!Way to go Kels, you did it.
CSCS 2019 Season Finale - Kels Runs A 1:09 At TMP! Mountain Pass Performance 2019-09-16 | With a fresh set of tires, we took 500whp Kels 2019 spec to CSCS for the Season Finale and she did not disappoint!Right out of the box the car did a 1:09.2 in the morning practice session. The condition of the track was poorer for the actual time attack - and the best I could muster was a 1:10.0 - but still enough to reset the Unlimited RWD lap record by 2.8 seconds! For perspective, Pfaff's World Challenge GT Porsche 991 GT3R did a mid 1:08 last year with the restrictors and ballast weight pulled out, with a pro driver. I can't thank everyone that has supported this program enough, including the guys that have come on weekends and to the track to help bring my dream of a home built GT3 car to reality. Best Day Ever - First Time Ripping The Nürburging Nordschleife!! Mountain Pass Performance 2019-07-17 | It's been a total dream come true to drive the Nurburgring. I've been learning this track first in Gran Turismo and then iRacing for years and years, and always wondered how quickly I could get up to speed in real life.EVN Rentals had this incredible E92 M3 available for rent, which has GT4 brakes, a nice splitter and wing, titanium exhaust, and big Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2's. The closest possible car to Kels, that was no doubt the car to rent. The car is beyond anything we've ever driven before. It's amazing that this is effectively the base model vehicle. It smashed the CSCS Production RWD lap record (unofficially) by 1.4 seconds, it slides like a weapon even with an open diff (how is that possible?) and it is the ultimate comfortable enjoyable daily driver. First Tesla Model 3 Racing Win - CSCS Time Attack Mountain Pass Performance 2018-06-26 | We took the Model 3 out to CSCS for a Time Attack - and we won! By a large margin too. This car is so fun in the rain with the stability control off. The ABS and traction control do an amazing job of keeping the car fighting for grip, but the stability control off lets you really play around. What a fun machine. Tesla Model 3 From Canadian Delivery To Dyno Mountain Pass Performance 2018-05-31 | What an exciting day! We received our Long Range Model 3 today from the International Center in Toronto. We were lucky to be able to receive our car on the first day of mass deliveries – May 30th 2018. Needless to say the car is incredible. But we wanted some concrete evidence, so we threw it on the dyno not even one hour after picking up the car!After a bit of fussing around tricking the traction control system, the Model 3 with an 80% charge put down 340whp and about the same amount of torque. The X-Axis displays the motor RPM, and torque displayed is torque at the motor, not at the wheels. Mountain Pass Performance Tesla Model 3 Coilover Development Mountain Pass Performance 2018-04-02 | We've been designing our Tesla Model 3 coilovers and suspension arms for some time, and here we are in California to test and tune them. Watch our adventure!We couldn't be more excited to start tuning on this platform. The car out of the box is incredible, and we've been able to make the car look better and handle even better with suspension technology by KW, and our upgraded suspension arms that remove the soft, cheap rubber bushings from rear toe and camber arms and replace them with booted and greased sealed spherical bearings.We welcome the new age of tuning with open arms.
