This is my first original live action music video project for my digital film college. I had a very stressful time pulling this off. I made everything from planing, to shooting, to directing and post production. Special thanks go out to my mates Stefan, Alex, JoeJoe and Marcus for assistance during shooting. Without you this video wouldn't be possible in this quality!!! This is a short story about an everyday guy that is actually a murder. He is good in hiding his inner monster. That's symbolized by the paper mask that he is wearing. If you want to find out more about his motivations, than you have just to listen to the lyrics. I just hope that the base storyline is clear for everyone. I had this idea with this song for a long time and due to my film college this was the perfect time to execute it. Lenses I've used: Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 Tamron 17-55mm f2.8 Sigma 50mm f1.4 (I fell in love with this one during shooting. F1.4 is amazing) The editing was done in Premiere Pro CS5, fx in After Effects CS5 with support of additional plugins like Trapcode Particular and Red Giant Magic Bullet Looks. Personally I think that this came out as a mix and became more of a character profile, but I'm really happy for the outcome! Haunted Child [LORN - Silhouette | AMV] Bauzi 2023-10-23 | This project was yet again all about using AI in AMVs. I tried to use PikaLabs for storytelling purposes and simply style. It’s a service that generates you images out of prompts or animates your still images. I fell in love with animating still images. Here is a full ai-shotlist with timecodes and used methods:pastebin.com/CXyZupHXI wanted the visual style of this video to be really slow, uneasy and eerie. It’s a mix of camera lens blur, light rays and luma adjustments. The color style is inspired by the videogame “The Shrouded Isle”. Videoclips got interpolated with varies methods (Twixtor, FlowFrames…) to give this an even more uncanny eerie feeling. The song is called “Silhouette” and LORN was once again my musical artist of choice, since I can’t stop thinking about his unique music. However at it turns out things are developing fast and are getting tiresome. I remember a time, when Bard, ChatGPT-4 and Midijourney 5 were announced right at the same times. Keeping up with burned me out. You need a full time job on this and maybe even then you only specialize in one area. Also when a lot of the smaller tasks get done by AI, you are left with all the creative work. Constantly being creative and original burns you out, while at the same time you sometimes battle with errors and bad images, that AI gives you.That's why I felt it was time to try out my first collab between AMV editors, after a raw cut was finished. I joined up with my coworker Arcothy to battle this challenge together. This was probably the best choice for this input. Together there were enough creative power to pull this off. Also we added up pretty nicely. The cut got better, the scene selection more interesting and there were great ideas on how to implement AI into pictures. Refining effects, masks and scenes got more important as well. We worked together via Adobe Cloud Team Projects, which was not as smooth as we first thought, but after a bumpy start it was alright.So what's left was to get AI work in anime and video. Of course there are possible DeForum animation videos, but they were not easily to control and will always have that certain look to them. Runway was at Gen-1 stage and the costs for AI video generation were simply too high and too gimmicky. What's left were still image generation and implementing them in video. StableDiffussion with the use of different AI models and LORAs gave pleasing results. I felt we had more control over things in comparison to MidJourney or Firefly. Arcothy made it work via Ebsynth or Adobe Generative Fills and I often took the time to give it a well touch up in After Effects or Premiere Pro.What I really enjoyed was applying abstract Color via ControlNet to scenes. Some scenes turned out really good. Others need lot's of prework with masks, tracking or color layers. The use of various overlay techniques and stock videos helped integrating the images a lot! This and Adobe Generative Fill will highly return in my future projects.The crazy thing about the technology is, that everything is so fast. A few months later things would look differently, because tech improved or new workflows came out. I hope that this video will not look too dated. Only time will tell. No? Than it sucks!" ... Let's turn this around and put squirrels in this. Not just squirrels, but our favourite plushies that we love so much. So I got her a greenscreen morphsuite and put her into the professional greenscreen studio at my workplace. It's an idea, that I thought about pulling of at last year's YuniCon convention.Technical notes:This was filmed with a Sony FX6. Some parts are even in 120fps 4k, but I don't think there was a visible benefit to it to be honest. Some assets like smokeclouds were created with Stable Diffusion and Midjourney AI. The reason is that, even if you pay for stock footage like Envato Elements, these kind assets are harder to come by than I would have thought. So why not generate them by myself and increase my AI skills too?The video editing was smooth and fast. The cut was done in less than 8 hours. Most time took scene searching and of course the massive compositing work. My gf was so sweet to learn masking and helped me out on so many scenes. Love.Also I was able to pull off every 42 scenes on sets in less than 42 hours and the vast majority worked out like a charm in post. New technologies creep in and flip your life upside down. You've been to a place yesterday and now there is a new hive of apartments, offices and living quarters. The metropolis hunger drew it out from seemingly nowhere. Art installations break you up in your routine and attack your senses like guerrilla warriors. Some try to escape their dream day like state. However daily life has a tight grip on them. The sense of loneliness and sadness keeps creeping in, while you are surrounded by masses of anonymous faces, that don't matter to you. Some try to break free from the repetition and succeed. They got enough money to flee to rural areas or distant lose suburbs. Either you are a part of the monster, or you run and never come back. This is the 21st Century Metropolis. On a personal note: This is heavily inspired to my trips to the sprawls of Tokyo and Osaka. Those who were there, might understand my feelings. I composed my major releases and AMVs into one nostalgic supercut. This even includes some of my very first AMVs. So far probably only Mac has seen those videos and no other person up to date. I wanted to show you those videos as they were: Low quality, full of mistakes. That's how they were and I want to send a message out: I was a noob and did every possible mistake you can imagine, however I managed to come out good with my AMVs and so can you! Don't give up. I only changed it up with hard cuts and some fades to make it work better. I wanted to preserve original edits and effects, because that's how things were. There are no changes in speed. Ich hatte den Film vor kurzem gesehen und wollte die Szene irgendwie "verewigen" und das Lied hatte ich auch zuvor im Radio gehört. Fast hätte ich "The Passanger" von Iggy Pop genommen, aber das hat dann doch nicht so gut gepasst als Song. Ende Gelände (4K - Aggretusko AMV) Bauzi 2019-08-31 | Schluss aus Ende. Ende im Gelände.Kommentar:Es war unfassbar anstrengend dieses Video zu machen in dieser recht kurzen Zeit (3 Wochen). Dennoch bin ich recht zufrieden mit dem Endergebnis. Es ist vor allem angenehm anders. Ich war mir nicht sicher wie gut der dritte Part mit weniger offensiven Effekten ankommt, aber es funktioniert und macht vor allem für das Video und die "Storyline" an sich Sinn. Das beruhigt!Materialmangel hat mich sehr nach vorne an die Grenzen meiner Kreativität gepusht. Die Mischung aus Zeitmangel und Materialmangel nötigt einen dazu Ideen umzusetzen, die man sonst verworfen hätte. Gerade diese Ideen machen es aber aus und funktioniert so oft so erstaunlich gut! Wenn ich die alte Webserie aus 2016 nicht entdeckt hätte, hätte ich auf den Release der Season 3 in 2020 (hoffentlich? Please Netlfix!) warten müssen. So hat aber noch alles funktioniert. Die Webserie ist wirklich empfehlenswert. Retsuko kommt darin, aber schon fast wie eine Kolerikerin rüber ^^JA! DAS DING IST IN 4K! Möglich gemacht wurde es durch ein neurales Netzwerk namens Waiffu2x. Eine wirklich super Software für Upscaling. Die Webserie die ich gefunden habe war leider nur in 720p aus YouTube Rips. Durch Waifu wurde es wirklich möglich dieses Material in 1080p umzuwandeln ohne das man es sieht oder merkt. Wahnsinn! Das Material sieht danach besser aus als vorher. Nun dieser 4K Upscale wurde dann aus dem 1080p AMV gemacht und ich finde es schaut wirklich knackig aus, so als wäre das Material schon immer 4K groß gewesen. Vor einem 8K oder 6K Release hat mich dann nur Zeit und Festplattenplatz aufgehalten. Möglich wäre es gewesen. Aggretsuko ist ein super Anime dafür.Vielleicht mache ich zu Waiffu2x und dem Upscaling Prozess ein kurzes Tutorial.Ahja! Unbedingt bitte die Band Großstadtgeflüster auschecken. Die meisten Effekte sind Geschwindigkeitsänderungen, Color Grading, Glow, Content Aware Fills und Kamerabewegungen.

Die Effizientz bestätigte auch irgendwie mein eigenes Können und das tut natürlich gut. Dieses mal musste ich auch gar keine großen Kompromisse eingehen für meine Grundidee. Inhaltlich habe ich Einflüsse von H.P. Lovecraft und Stephen King eingearbeitet und in betracht gezogen. Dabei geht es vor allem um die Einarbeitung von subtilen Hinweisen, die einem wohl erst beim öfteren Zusehen auffallen werden. I also paid a lot of time into manipulating scenes. Furthermore I've put my attention to fluid motion. I tried a lot to make things look more dynamic.In the end... I like this video. Although there are lot's of flaws. It's clearly not of my recently better works. I think I did alright with the limited scenes of Battou and Motoko. I wished the action scenes would have more punch in them. Personally this was a huge learning experience. The process of arranging and sorting clips for a clear story, was a make or break situation. I'm glad that I've conquered that challenge and probably became a much better editor because of it. Halt eben mit Musik und Textstellen als Fragen und Videos mit denen man diese Stellen ausfüllt. Wenn alle Antworten richtig sind, ergibt das ein wunderschön verwobenes Videomaterial. Das Lösungswort das aus gewissen Schlüsselpunkten entsteht, wäre dann quasi der rote Faden der sich durch das Video zieht. Je klarer das Lösungswort desto besser und verständlicher das Video?Besondere Challenge des Videos:Jeden Anime nur einmal verwenden und am besten Material aus der ersten Episode eines Animes verwenden. Eine Ausnahme gibt es, die durch das AMV und den konfusen "Inhalt" führt und einmal habe ich geschummelt, aber wo?! ;PSo kam ich dann ganz schnell unbeabsichtigt auf 141 einzigartige Animes in diesem AMV. Strefful, but fun! I haven't seen LukeG's video yet, but I have to wonder why I lost another round of an IC again. Please don't get me wrong! I was just quite happy that I was able to pull of a nice video, with nice editing flow and an actual short alternate story of the anime (though I have to admit that the intro is random, but hey at least the rest of the video isn't, right?). Well anyway good match LukeG and I hope you can defeat Ileia in the next round!
Trapcode Particular 2.1 - Tetris Textanimation (Prototype) Bauzi 2010-12-23 | This is a prototype of a Tetris-like textanimation that I made with Trapcode Particular 2.1 in After Effects CS5. It worked out quite good. The next steps are to get more varied velocity for the particles and to use less particles. I needed so much particles so you can read the text. I will also try to work with a ground texture instead of reversed gravity. If it doesn't work, I'll try to do the same in Trapcode Form. This is a nice exercise to learn the plug ins =) Tetris is a nice source of inspiration.
[HD] Reality Is Less Than TV - Canon EOS 7D + After Effects CS5 Bauzi 2010-12-15 | This is my final project for my After Effects course. I had a lot of fun to create it and I thank Marcus and Stefan for helping me out on the film set for this video. This was shot on a Canon EOS 7D and all the editing and post processing was done in After Effects. Motion Tracking for screen replacement was done in Mocha. I just went to our town lake and made some nice photos and videos and compiled them together in a short music video. To my surprise the lake already got dried. It's the same every year: At the beginning of the cold months the lake gets dried for this time period. So I was all alone at the empty lake on a cold and grey november day. Well... I wanted to capture this moment in a video and this is the result in form a quite short video. I hope you like it.
