I Know Where Ive Been - Sax Quintet with Sax Choir Arrangement - Sheet Music jordan.1210 2020-07-14 | A saxophone arrangement of I Know Where I've Been from the musical Hairspray (based on the 2007 movie version) for SAATB sax quartet (soprano, alto, alto tenor, bari) with alto and tenor sax choir.2020 has been a hard year for everyone, but if there is one good thing that has come out of it, for me it's probably the current Black Lives Matter and many other social justice movements happening throughout the U.S.#saxophone #blm #blacklivesmatterI have been a strong advocate of these movements and passionately participated in a variety of protests in San Diego shortly after I graduated. During one of these, an Artists for Black Lives protest, one singer beautifully sang this song, and I knew I needed to arrange this. I remember watching the movie Hairspray a lot as a child and now realize how many of its themes are still relevant today. My arrangement is based off of the Queen Latifa recording for the 2007 movie adaptation of Hairspray, trying to transcribe the vocals as accurately as possible. Some background parts were also drew inspiration from a piano score I found online. Graduation Memories in D - Sax/Clarinet Quintet Mashup - Sheet Music jordan.1210 2020-06-14 | A sax/clarinet quintet mashup of Graduation/Friends Forever (Vitamin C), Memories (Maroon 5), and Canon in D (Johann Pachelbel) for SAATB sax quartet (soprano, alto, alto tenor, bari) or 3 Bb, 1 alto, 1 bass clarinets.Since I just graduated from UCSD, I figured it was a suitable time to share this mashup that I've had sitting around for a while in celebration to all the new graduates. Congratulations to all! All your hard work has paid off.It's pretty common knowledge that many songs follow the Canon in D chord progression, and I've had a growing list of songs that I've thought of mashing with it. When I first heard Memories, I thought of it as basically Canon with lyrics. After finding a video on Youtube from MinJu Angela Song, I was motivated to make this. Arranging was fairly easy since most of the background is from Canon, which is easily accessible online. As for the reason it's in C despite the title, it's because the three songs are in D, C, and B, so I took the "average" of C, which also makes it easier to play (but wasn't the main reason). Also, I found that the three songs were pretty fitting, since they're all kinda cheesy, overplayed songs. High Hopes x POP/STARS - Sax Quintet Mashup jordan.1210 2019-02-11 | A sax quintet mashup of High Hopes (Panic! at the Disco) and POP/STARS (K/DA) with a little Megalovania (Toby Fox) for SAATB (soprano, alto, alto tenor, bari).Another mashup, this time quite different from what I'm used to arranging. I started arranging just High Hopes but found it too repetitive for my likes so I tried doing a mashup with it. Found some inspiration on YouTube and this is the result. I probably spent more time on this than any other arrangement in the past since it's the first one that a significant part is electronic, specifically pitched drums. Still really happy with how it came out. Reedhouse 1 - Original Composition jordan.1210 2018-09-13 | An original piece drawing inspiration from groups like Too Many Zooz and Lucky Chops with my own personal touches. Name is a modified take on the brasshouse style of Too Many Zooz.While the background parts are pretty simple and repetitive, each solo section is pretty difficult and admittedly, I didn't intend for this to be played live, although it probably could be if you get a good enough group. I was only going to combine Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Misery Business initially, but I eventually wanted to mash the five songs together. The bulk of the song was supposed to be a mashup of Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Misery Business with the other songs serving as little cameos. I didn't write a full percussion part because this was intended for my street performing group, where the included percussion parts are meant to be clapped/stomped by performers.
