The start of this improvisation is fairly weak, but some of the places it goes are compelling. Fully Improvised Piano Concert - First Movement Trevor Alan Gomes 2022-11-14 | I've wanted for years to experiment more with "real time composition," improvising entire pieces with no forethought in front of a live audience. This is my first attempt at performing a fully-improvised concert live online, and overall I'm actually incredibly happy with the result.The biggest thing I noticed is that I'm either "working with the flow" or I'm working against it/trying to find it. When the improvisation is at its strongest is actually when I'm not really thinking about what to improvise and just seeing where the musical moment leads me, so to speak.I think the first and third movements were the strongest, though the second had the individual moments I found the most compelling (after working through a bit of a rough start). The Halloween one went far better, in my opinion- in this one, the touch isn't quite right and the improvisations don't sound quite as engaged. I think the biggest difference is having the screen and computer stuff on the piano (which has been an important part of making my stream work for a while now). Using physical sheet music on the regular music stand during the Halloween stream made me feel more connected to the music itself and I think it showed.That said, the feedback was still really positive with this one and if you enjoy listening I want you to still have it available!
