It was built in 1942 and was among the last Bf 108s made before production moved to occupied France. After the war in Europe ended, it was in an unknown unit coded VE+LI when it was captured by the RAF. It was operated by them as one of their 19 "Messerschmitt Aldons" with Air Ministry number AM 87, until it made its way with an owner in Switzerland, with civil reg. HB-DUB and later HB-ESK. It was exported to the US in 1968 where it eventually ended up in the Commemorative Air Force's inventory with its current civil registration. It was initially with the New Mexico Wing in Hobbs, NM, then the 3rd Pursuit Squadron in San Bernardino, CA, then finally, as of Summer 2020, the Southern California Wing in Camarillo, CA! This aircraft still has the original Argus As 10 inverted air-cooled V8, with a very neat sound.

War Thunder simple C-46 cockpit sound mod in FMOD WarbirdSquirrel 2024-07-25 | A work in progress that -spiraled out of control- became a proof of concept, this demonstrates just how far you can take War Thunder's stock base engine sounds when it comes to making a dynamic, authentic end result. Note that I didn't even use the actual cockpit sounds, just the four "side" sounds with the FMOD reverb effect.I also augmented the sound at high RPM with samples from in-flight videos (linked below), and added an extra sample at low RPM. Accordingly, I showed the difference without the extra sounds at high RPM. And this is all before incorporating the actual cockpit sounds, wind noises, accounting for two engines... it's still a big improvement IMO.One of the most significant shortcomings of the stock cockpit sounds is the lack of pitch matching and smooth transitions between the different RPM samples. Here, I'm pretty satisfied with how even the Everts video samples pitch matched quite well. The RPM parameter corresponds to actual engine RPM, at least as close as I can get it based on various R-2800 videos and my experience.As you can see, I'm using the built-in FMOD Engine Designer script to control the RPM parameter, which automatically smooths your input and moves the "load" parameter accordingly based on "engine" acceleration. I have a simple EQ effect tied to "load," which low/high passes the sound on load and unload respectively. It's not exactly accurate, obviously, but it's not like War Thunder has a separate parameter for manifold pressure (or actual RPM) anyway.You'll notice during the "run-up" sequence, I found that a simple EQ highshelf makes for a pretty good impression of the way the prop sound changes when the blades move to high pitch/low RPM in real life. T-6/SNJ Texan P-51 tailwheel explained | CAF SoCal WarbirdSquirrel 2022-07-10 | Here I explain the "P-51 tailwheel" found on many T-6s nowadays. I believe it was first introduced on the AT-6G, then warbird Texan owners eventually modified their planes with it (like this one) as it makes taxiing and ground handling much easier.The original SNJ-4 had no tailwheel steering, and had either a locked or unlocked tailwheel. This was to prepare pilots for carrier aircraft which needed an unlocked tailwheel for landing, as tailwheel needs to swivel all over the place in the chaos of a carrier landing. The locked position would only be used for ashore takeoffs and landings.Something I forgot to mention is why you unlock the tailwheel in the first place. It's to make tighter turns than the steerable angle (+-15°) allows for. Thus, all aircraft taking off flew right past the CAF ramp, making for a phenomenal display!
