With the quick cold snap most lakes were far behind last year. This year our timing was near perfect and we were some of the fist out on this spot. The fish were not pressured and it resulted in one of the most amazing bites we've ever had on the hardwater. An experience I will not soon forget. This TINY CREEK holds ALL The FISH IN the LAKE (NEW PB) Jeremy Brookins Fishing 2026-08-06 | Nestled in the middle of nowhere Minnesota surrounded by corn fields and small towns lies a fertile river system that feeds a ruthless chain of lakes known to contain trophies of every species. This chain of lakes is slept on and underrated because it’s just far enough away from everything and there are so many bigger name lakes and chains pulling attention away from this one. According to OnX and the Minnesota DNR there are multiple trophy species in every lake in this chain. The DNR releases information about fish abundance using the Catch Per Unit Effort or CPUE scale which is derived from standard surveys over a given amount of time. The more fish they get during netting or electro fishing over that set time reflects a higher CPUE number. Lakes with high or outlier CPUE numbers can provide excellent or exceptional fishing potential. I selected this particular lake because the majority of listed species contained both trophy potential and high abundance. I was also drawn to this lake because I’ve been pursuing river fed lakes lately. Rivers act as the life blood to lakes bringing seemingly renewable resources and replenishing them with bait and often trophy caliber fish. During the hottest days of summer when fish roam the endless basins and can be difficult to track down, rivers often produce! Nothing could have prepared me for what happened next.

I threw at big suspended mark with small paddletail and instantly the fish destroyed the jig. I was very certain it was a pike or musky by the way it was fighting with long strong runs. So when I was able to discern that it was a walleye I was shocked and surprised. I was even more surprised to find a pattern that was predictable over several days and these tanker walleyes seemed to follow the same pattern! Who needs Canada?!?
INSANE WALLEYE & CRAPPIE SPOT (Western Wisconsin Spring Fishing) Jeremy Brookins Fishing 2026-05-24 | I finally did it guys. I not only managed to find the crappies in the 1000's but I actually found the walleyes as well on this Western Wisconsin lake. That is something I have tried to do many times and never had luck. This spring has been very good to me in terms of finding and catching walleyes. We have been finding them in 11-13' of water just on the weed edge off the break where it levels off. They seem to be relating to sparse weeds and when you find them they tend to be schooled up and on bottom or suspended just off bottom. It's hard to beat the classic 1/8 or 1/4 oz jig and fathead this time of year. Slow twitching that jig and letting it sit on bottom has been very deadly for me this spring so far.

This time the giant bluegills came out play and we managed 7 gills at or over the 10" mark plust tons of 9-10" gills and some monster crappies as well. We found that using slip bobbers set at around 10-11' in 15' of water worked best for the gills using a jig or plain hook and a chunk of crawler. The crappies were a bit tougher with jigs and plastics as well as slip bobber minnow enticing them to bite.

These CRIBS Were LOADED (Minnesota Fall Crappies) Jeremy Brookins Fishing 2025-10-17 | It was my understanding that the Wisconsin DNR placed cribs in Wisconsin lakes to help the crappie with structure and shelter but that the Minnesota DNR did NOT. Well all of that changed when I happened upon some GPS coordinates of cribs on some outer metro lakes. After consulting an army buddy of mine who specializes in land navigation, he helped me make sense of the GPS coordinates and plug them into Navionics. I found that around 60-70% of the coordinates I was given were correct and had nice cribs on them. These looked like official DNR style cribs, not some local dropping Chistmas trees in or homeade PVC cribs. They were the larger railroad tie box style cribs. And they sure did hold some fish!

We followed a tiny creek in our kayaks to an untouched lake that we had never fished before. The recent heavy rains made for some fierce current and an easy ride to the lake but a nearly impossible ride back out. It was the hardest 35 minute paddle of my life. But the fishing was out of this world and we didn't even find the fish until we were 3 hours in. We only had around an hour to capitalize on the honey hole before we had to leave. We will definitely be back and next time I will have my new trolling motor rigged up on the Pelican Catch 100 Classic to make that paddle back possible.

We finally got everyone's boat working and had all 4 boats out on a beautiful sunny day with some nice light winds. The walleyes were actually interested in slip bobber leeches along with jigs and rainbow minnows. Bennett shattered his PB walleye and we had a marvelous shore lunch on the beach with foil pack walleyes. The pike fishing in the afternoon was lackluster but the evening walleye bite on the shallower rock reef more than made up for it.

One thing that seems to always make quite a bit of difference is the weight of jig you are using. On windy days we noticed that 1/4" oz jigs just weren't cutting it in terms of consistent bottom contact. Sizing up to the 3/8 oz made all the difference. Also snap jigging minnow profile baits is a deadly technique that the walleyes everywhere can't resist.

Springtime MONSTER CRAPPIES {Catch Clean Cook on the BOAT} Jeremy Brookins Fishing 2025-04-16 | 4-9-25 Jonas and I set out on a quest to conquer Lake Z, or Lake Q or whatever. The main point is that it is not Lake Minnetonka. The goal is to catch some beautiful spring eater crappies and then film a fish taco catch and cook on the boat, on the water. Mission accomplished! After 2 hours of searching and nearly giving up we found the crappies in a completely different depth and pattern than 4 days earlier. With the variable temperatures and huge swings in spring, April crappie fishing can be a challenge but the pay off is huge if you are patient! In this video we breakdown where the crappies were and then how their pattern shifted over the 4 days. We used silver and chart 1" gulp alive minnows on 1/16 oz chart jigs with a split shot and weighted slip bobber. We had to adjust the depth constantly to put the bait right above their schools in order to get bites!
CLEARWATERS BEST CATCH & COOK (Queen Fleet Deep Sea Fishing + Salt Cracker Fish Camp) Jeremy Brookins Fishing 2025-04-07 | My son Bennett and I had a blast on the Queen Fleet half day trip. We went out from 1-5 pm March 25th and caught a bunch a fish and were able to keep some for a fish fry at Salt Cracker Fish Camp afterwards. The total cost of the trip was a bit less than $100 for me and my son who was 12 because we brought our own rods and tackle. If you use their gear it's an additional $5 per person. I would recommend bringing your own medium heavy rods if you want more action and feel because their rods are short and extra heavy with virtually no feel. I also sized down to a size 4 or 1/0 circle hook and found more bites with smaller hooks than the other using their gear. The half day trip didn't yield as many fish as the full day because they are able to get out farther to much better spots on the full day. But if you only have half a day I would still highly recommend you check out the Queen Fleet. And then afterwards they will fillet your fish up for you (for a fee), we paid $10, and then you can bring your fish to Salt Cracker just down the marina. For $15 they will fry it up for you and serve it hot with fries and coleslaw plus optional fish taco fixings for a small fee. I would highly recommend the fish tacos as they were amazing. The fish was delicious and gave my fresh caught crappie tacos from Minnesota a run for the money.

We had to spend a little more time searching and patterning the fish. But we figured out that if you could find a bay that was significantly warmer than everywhere else, the fish would be loaded in there. That particularly proved true with the pike. After Ben and Cole have an amazing afternoon with multiple giants they are kind enough to share the details with me and dad so that we can spend our last 1.5 hours of the day pursuing the giants!

IT TOOK ME 39 YEARS To CATCH This MONSTER (2025 Ice Fishing Crappies & PIke) Jeremy Brookins Fishing 2025-01-15 | Jonas and I head out to chase panfish but bring the iFishPro's just in case because you never. There was 15.5" of ice so we were able to drive out on the lake safely. We found the crappies relating to a deep area that was surrounded by a large flat. The crappies were roaming around in different shcools and if you chased them down you could get on them to catch a few. We started noticing large pike chasing the crappie schools. That is when Jonas suggested moving the iFishPro into the deep area with the crappies. It was sitting on a shallower break so we decided to move it to the deeper crappie area and within 30 minutes came the BOOM!

I was able to secure a limit quick and go searching for some other species. I was unable to find the gills but did manage so find some nice smallies.

I started out with a Z-viber micro tungesten from eurotackle, then swithced to a 4 mm tungesten jig/plastic combo and finally finished with the 1/16 oz Clam jointed pinhead minnow in pink. Per usual that was the crowd favorite and it almost seems like I only need the one lure. I had som big bonus catches that made for fun fights on the light 3 lb flouro line. I had to work to put together the program but it was a blast!
GIANT CRAPPIES & WALLEYES on Early ICE Fishing Minnesota (24 Hour Ice Camping) Jeremy Brookins Fishing 2024-12-08 | 12/4/24 Jonas, Jason and I hit an amazing shallow lake spot in northern Minnesota that delivers great early ice fishing for oversized crappies and walleyes. Even the bass, pike, and bluegills are big too. We found that in the shallow water the fish really could sense the livescope and so we figured out the one two punch of the livescope directing another guy with a vexilar worked best. Otherwise the simple slip bobber setup or rattle reels worked well. The fish were roaming through but really were concentrated among the tall floor to ceiling weeds. We didn't catch the elusive 19" crappies but still managed quite a few over 14" which is always fun!

Although that sounds delightful I've found it to be the less effective way to put crappies topside during the day. I'm sure there are times and bodies of water where it pays to sit quietly and wait for fish to come to you. This however was not one of them. I had to literally sprint at times to stay in front of them and wall them off with a line of holes to stop their momentum. I rarely got to stay on top of them for more than a few seconds. I actually drilled so many holes that I used up an entire battery on the Eskimo E40. Of course, I didn't bring the second one because I never used more than 50% of one battery in the past.

The 2024-2025 hardwater season is upon us. I was on a crappie mission when I started noticing some very large marks coming through on the livescope. I upsized to the biggest thing I had in my crappie box (Clam Tikka Minnow) and dropped back down. After some aggressive rips I was hooked up with a freight train. The only problem was I was using the most ultralight crappie setup I had. A JT Outdoors 24" panhandler ultralight rod with the 13 ghost inline reel spooled with 2 lb fluorocarbon line. So attention to detail and proper drag adjustment was critical to landing this fish. Also and incredible amount of patience to tire this behemoth out. Enjoy and tight lines!

Multi-species Slam Session w/ GIANT UNEXPECTED CATCH! (Pool 2 Fall Walleye Fishing) Jeremy Brookins Fishing 2024-10-21 | Jordan, Jonas and I set out to chase some mega walters again on Pool 2 this time in some different areas than in the previous video. The cold front that came in has cooled the water temp down by 7 degrees. We catch a total of 7 species and still find fish concentrated on shallow rocky humps, points and steep drop offs. It was windy but still a beautiful night. We used 1/2-3/4 oz jigs with plastic paddle tails and plastic minnows.
INSANE GIANT WALLEYES on SHALLOW Rocks (Fall POOL 2 Mississippi River Walleyes) Jeremy Brookins Fishing 2024-10-14 | On the heels of the Pool 2 AIM and INO tournaments Jordan and I headed out to see how we would fair given that I couldn't make the tourney. Our best 5 fish ended up at 117" with the tournament rules of rounding up to the nearest 0.25". I know that pool 2 has monsters but this was my fist time experiencing the madness, and let me tell you, it's very real. It makes me want to keep fishing in the boat this winter to chase that 10+ pound walleye which is a very real possibility. I was using 3/8 oz chart or firetiger jigs with Scheels 2.8" pro swimmer paddletails and Jordan was using a 3/4oz jigs with fathead colored Crush City paddletails. The fall colors have also brought the fall bite and I'm excited for what else is in store for the rest of the fall!
