You play an AI managing a colony. It appears to be an endless game where eventually you grow too big and are ended by air leaks, disease, space ogres, shadow demons, and poop monsters, all the sorts of things that threaten the International Space Station on a daily basis.
The challenge is that once you bind a command the game will no longer remind you of your binding. Plus, as your colony grows bigger it becomes increasingly difficult to manage stuff going wrong.
The slow decline into oblivion begins at 38:00. 39:34 is when everything sharply goes downhill. 40:52 has the end stuff.
And while it's cool and kind of crazy, it won't bring my father back.

With a job offer you can't refuse (unless you do) you get to explore a cursed company building filled with monstrosities and office politics.
This game's really well-done and improves upon the gameplay of The Count Lucanor noticeably. Brian collapses in a pool of blood for most deaths like with their previous game except for a few exceptions and because of how dark most places are (and Brian's flashlight switches off when he dies) this leads to having to set down glowsticks if you want to see that occur (which I don't always do as I either didn't have them yet or because of the generic animation). Some critters like the camera boss are identical to the normal mooks or the moving land mines being identical to stationary ones.
Additionally, the finale events play out similarly for the new route so I only included new scenes for subsequent endings. For the original route if you didn't speak to Hugo on the 10th floor then not stealing the Athame dagger will have him give his spiel like with the Fired ending, so I started that from where things change with the endings.

It looks like an early demo as sections don't have music but the gameplay looks pretty good. Controls do feel a bit finicky for wall jumping (it seems like there's a delay with registering so it feels a bit sluggish) which gave me some issues but otherwise it's fun so far.

It's a first person shooter from the 90s (with the game taking place in the 30s) dealing with finding some Egyptian relics while everything goes to hell.
Admittedly this isn't a genre I get into easily but I'm eager to see what it's like and try out a game someone greatly enjoys.

It should be noted that I played v3.03 for the original game but from my understanding earlier versions only had the female protagonist and the death for the paper saying "You're Dead" had a zombie similar to the evil spirit in the hallway. So while this should be every death there is an alternate version of one death I wasn't able to record.
Curiously the deaths in the truth segment seem to not be present in the definitive edition but are there in the 2024 version.

Unfortunately eldritch abominations are the new tenants down the hall and they are the absolute worst neighbors by abducting him to borrow a pound of flesh for their cake recipe.
I played an earlier demo and had been interested in seeing more. It's what you'd expect of survival horror with finding the right item combinations to solve puzzles and overcome obstacles along with fighting various monsters. The live action cutscenes also look nice. My only complaints are that at the moment finding where to click to use doors or interact with items can sometimes be finicky and that combat control can be a bit stiff (the tongue enemies usually get knocked back unless fighting them against a wall which requires adjusting after each hit).
Otherwise this game looks very promising.

You play as a fox that gets conned into doing a bird's dirty work to collect some magic bark for a magic tree. It's basically Seasons After Fall as an alright SNES style game.
The bosses themselves aren't particularly challenging but on hard difficulty most enemies in levels do hit pretty hard. Gold is pretty plentiful which is a good thing since you pay to use the checkpoints. It also lets you buy upgrades and potions (curiously healing potions aren't sold, just various forms of a magic effect to hurt enemies). There's also a bunch of secrets each level to find such as magic seeds which are needed to open new worlds. Each world has two levels, a boss fight, and then a short bonus level if you found all the magic seeds for that world which just lets you collect some more gold.
It's one of those kind of games that you pick up in a sale and enjoy.

You can play as an abducted girl that tries to escape while seeing a bunch of horrific activities their captors engage in.
This is a pretty dark game that does its story and message quite well. Unfortunately, the game has a number of flaws in its gameplay as it can be a bit laggy and have long loading screens. You can't skip cutscenes and your ability to start from specific chapters is lost when you finish the game, so if you want to see both endings you have to replay it entirely. As well, some achievements are weird ones like die ten times to certain things (like with both impalement deaths) that seem to have to be ten times in a single playthrough. So while there's some good points towards the game there's definitely some frustration in trying to play it.

Definitely meant to get to this one sooner and it's a well-done anomaly game. It's also has more story elements than most of the games in this genre.
Because there's a different set of anomalies for the blue and green cars I organized this to show the deaths first, then anomalies for each car, and finally the endings. One anomaly in the blue car only occurs if the supporter content is checked (it doesn't appear to be needed for the achievement to encounter all blue car anomalies). The ghost in the green car kills you if you make three mistakes and is really tough to see so I turned up brightness to max for when it appears.

This is a short, casual platformer with the gimmick being you swap between your shadow and yourself to overcome obstacles. This has some good points for it with the gameplay and aesthetic but the short length and easy difficulty make this a more average game that you'll blow through in about an hour.
All the moon fragments are required to get the brief ending (if you don't have them all after finishing the final level you'll get a message to collect them all to see the ending). You do have to beat each boss without taking damage in order to get a moon fragment.
All in all, the $5 price tag for a short platformer makes it difficult to recommend.

Another backlog game I've been meaning to play (and I see they also made Yuppie Psycho which I intend to get to at some point). There's no special animations for dying but the design for enemies is really good. Because the three endings involving leaving the castle have a lot of overlap I opted to show the walk home for the Poor but Happy ending, then show finding the fortune for the Wealth Without Answers ending, and other than briefly showing what's needed for A Prosperous Future ending started from arriving home. I did try to use up food/candles to see if I could get some variant dialogue.

This has got some very lovely pixel art and overall a good survival horror type game. Combat could use more polishing as it's mostly melee swing and backstep over and over until critters die (and use guns on bosses). I also wish more unique death animations were in the game as the few that exist are well done. I only included a few examples of the generic death but I'm pretty sure all other enemies gives the generic collapsing death animation (unless I overlooked one I let myself die to each creature).
Ending C is just leave the manor when the option becomes available. Ending B is going to the church and completing the ritual. Ending A is basically the same, only you need to kill the boss after you open the way to the altar and you need to have made certain choices (mostly ones that are more positive towards Mary). Ending S requires finding all the special coins and teeth to get the gear pieces to descend the elevator in the basement (and some of them are very missable). All four can be done in one run (definitely recommend a guide to not miss the coins or teeth).

When you go ghost hunting in an abandoned manor and your sister gets possessed you'll have to solve a number of puzzles to put the ghost to rest.
Really fun little horror game that I feel they must have intended more deaths with some of the smaller spooky events implemented. However, keeping away from your possessed sister is pretty easy as when she enters a room you can leave by the same door before she becomes active in the room. Her aggro range is pretty small and she gives up the chase somewhat quick (and she will never pursue you outside). Even if she does catch up, you can still button mash to avoid death. She can presumably attack while you're trying to work on puzzles and has a tendency to enter the room you're in at the worst time so she can be a bit annoying.
The three endings are based on whether you have your sister die (it won't matter if your friends die or not), your sister lives but any of your friends died, or if everyone made it out alive. Saving your sister requires moving a cart full of hay before the final confrontation in the attic and not killing your friends requires not sawing the big log, not cutting off the head of the mannequin wearing a hat, and not collapsing the floor near the barrel. After playing I realize all three endings can be easily done on one playthrough if you get the emblem key but don't interact with the hay cart until you're ready to go to the attic at which point you let Felice to die for the very bad ending. Then reload and move it so she lives and finish the game for the good ending. Finally reload after saving Felice and murder your friends for the bad ending.

The visuals are good and seeing some of the boss designs on Twitter is originally what got me checking this out. This is a second playthrough as I saw there was an update to add more ammo and I was curious to see the differences (plus I wanted to see how much smoother a second play would be). I had a few issues with ammo in my original play (nothing where I was out of ammo but a few times I was running low on bullets) but this time around I had so many resources that I started ignoring them in the later levels unless I needed something right away. I also felt less need to evade or trap as many monsters as I did in my first play.
Definitely still sloppy play as I died a few times overall and usually the ambushes would get me from not acting fast enough. I'm also pretty bad at logic puzzles. Plus I forgot to pick up the biomass on Floor 23 to bring to Karis so I added the scene where you return all three at the end of the video.

Give this man a hand for how skillfully they move around as they sorely need one.
I never played the first game but saw clips of it so when I saw a sequel released I really wanted to give it a try. It takes some getting used to for the controls but it's quite well done for creepy exploration vibes and having to save bullets (although part of my ammo issue was probably from making more nitrate injectors than needed when I had tons of needles lying on the floor that make Cynte look like a junkie instead of using the nitroglycerin for more pistol ammo).
While the Steam page lists boss fights, this is the only actual boss fight I encountered.

After escaping Velgress your character Alpha decides to go gamble by fighting in an arena for the cash to buy a new spaceship.
Like Velgress, this is a bit of a rage game with how quickly things can go wrong as while you have a health bar without upgrades almost everything will kill you in one hit. On top of that, cherry completion requires $4500 or more at the end so you need to have $1300 or more going into the final fight to ensure you reach that amount. This means adding a lot more extra mobs to earn enough prize money per wave to get enough upgrades and then stockpile cash. The upgrade that lures enemies to your bombs is hands down the most useful one and once you have a decent amount of bombs you should be able to get $400-700 per wave without too much trouble.
It's very satisfying to finish though especially since the first time I played this I got killed a lot.

Also the explosive ending to the game.
I never got the opportunity to play this when it first came out so the remaster seemed a good time to try it out. While there are some things that seem like it'll result in a game over (i.e. entering a house where the groundskeeper threatens to call the police but never makes good on the threat or drinking excessive amounts of alcohol) there are less deaths than expected. With the segment on the train with Eklund you can also die by clicking on the fire axe or taking too long but it's otherwise the same as the two shown (just no unique dialogue).
I did find the attempted citizen's arrest to be hilarious. It's also surprising that it's there since George will give reasons for not attempting other suicidal actions.

Your character gets thrown into a pit with collapsing blocks and spikes rolling up after you as you ascend with most runs ending poorly when you get knocked into the spikes or fail to leave yourself somewhere to jump.
This game is fun but a bit of a rage game as a good run can go south very quickly and dying sends you all the way back to the beginning. Each run is fast though so you get used to a lot of dumb mistakes. You also need to be cautious not to ascend too quickly or blocks you intended to land on might end up destroyed. It can be very RNG on how many coins you can safely collect but buying upgrades are super worth it (especially lightfoot and triple jump to have many more options).
You get the full ending by collecting a key on each of the three levels (otherwise you get the normal ending). The bird only stays up for a short while so you have to be somewhat quick.

A fun little puzzle game where you're a lizard trying to make it safely to a hole and avoid a number of predators. Your ability to camouflage allows you to blend in with a particular colored tile and swapping between colors helps you stay undetected.
It took about an hour and a half to finish and it's pretty friendly for mistakes as you can undo to shortly before messing up instead of having to start the entire level over.
My Social Media Stuff: discord.gg/z6WhfmcYXu twitter.com/CrankyTemplarCan I Complete Abiotic Factor on Apocalyptic Difficulty with All Negative Perks?CrankyTemplar2024-09-29 | Abiotic Factor got an update to add an apocalyptic difficulty mode and I've considered trying a challenge run with all negative perks so this seems like a good time to try both at once and seeing how painful it is. The current patch of early access has five sectors available (Office Sector, Manufacturing West, Labs, Security Sector, and the Hydroplant) so I'll try and see if I can reach the beginning of the reactors which serves as the current end. This will almost certainly take more than one stream since my best solo run finished labs in 6.5 hours before the Crush Depth patch.
Negative perks include reduced XP gain (and combat skills can only be trained to basic levels), slower healing and increased chance to bleed, higher sleep/hunger/thirst needs, reduced health and stamina, and worst of all increased toilet use.
Bear with me as even though I know the game a decent amount this will likely be slow and painful to clear.

This one didn't grab me all that much. Only the bloody maid is a danger and that requires getting off the elevator which you have no reason to do (she won't enter the elevator and the button to report is right there). This game also doesn't prioritize unseen anomalies so you can potentially see the same anomaly repeat while seeing all the anomalies will likely come down to finally getting a rarely spawning one to show up.

There's two endings depending on whether you fight the boss with the red star sword or not (with cherry completion needing the sword).
My run encountered a curious bug where my red star sword apparently disappeared from my inventory (maybe I dropped or gave it away at some point without noticing) but for some reason defeating the abyss lord normally still gave me the good ending. Because of this I included how the fight would normally be with the sword.
Weirdly enough the rapier is an incredibly good sword compared to other weapons as the speed and damage is good but it uses far less stamina. This allows you to get by with lower constitution for a good while. Magic is a bit odd as low-level spells are really good but the high end spells tend to not really be worth the investment to cast.
I extinguish torches (which probably only needs to be done on floor 2) as doing so allows you to get the phantom shield from the knight boss. The dragon shield is extremely good already (and can easily last the full game) but the phantom shield also gives a small amount of mana back when blocking.
I played through (and died) many times to learn stuff so I don't look for carvings to "learn" spells - if you know the movements you can cast anything right away.

It's a bit slower than I expected for a run but a win is a win. But poor Hubert died to poisoning near the end so this is clearly a bad run.
Still, I did find out that killing Evelius will have the key to get out drop so at least for future runs I know I'll have an out, even if it's very easy to die to him.

Many thanks to Chrisaegrim for checking my list of deaths. It turns out I did miss a death and my thanks to Chrisaegrim and Alex S. for mentioning this. You can find the missed death here: youtu.be/S8y4b6mF4n8
One detail I really enjoyed seeing what the death screen changing to whichever game area you were currently in.
All of the magic staff items (void staff, divine staff, staff of ages, warlock staff) share the same death so I just used one of them. Some identical deaths can be obtained other ways (such as dying from holding the ruby too long has the same death occur if you try to leave the area with it). Punching the blacksmith or the guard playing cards just has them punch you which causes you to move back a screen.

Much like Shadowgate you must keep a torch lit or you'll instantly die (using your torch on Evinco will deplete it by about 10% but gives the same death message). There aren't many around but they do last for a while (however if it's below 25% you can't save until you light a new one). Not having both you and Brimley drink the protection potion in the finale will cause a game over from one of you dying. While you do get some weaponry, the game won't let you use them on yourself or Brimley.
It's a pretty straightforward and relatively short point-and-click game that I learned about from a thread in the Beyond Shadowgate forums recommending similar games so I wanted to give it a try.

Of course, as a sequel to Shadowgate there are a great many ways to meet a terrible end (including testing a variety of lethal items on yourself).
I had a great time playing this and have looked forward to this since the Kickstarter but I've had a fondness for this style of games since playing Shadowgate as a kid and playing other games in this style, including GrahfMetal's Infested and Spectacle. So I might be a bit biased. It was also neat to see side adventures with Uninvited and Deja Vu.
There are four endings to the game with this being the best outcome (placing a different item in the finale will lead to a different ending). Depending on how you resolve things in the manor ending B or D will be possible to get. Your final play time is lower than expected as the in-game timer pauses whenever text is up. As well, a few puzzles get randomized each playthrough (such as the path through the desert which you learn from the Deja Vu segment).

My Social Media Stuff: discord.gg/z6WhfmcYXu twitter.com/CrankyTemplarNight Manor (UFO 50) - Playthrough & EndingsCrankyTemplar2024-09-19 | UFO 50 is a collection of 50 games created in a retro style of multiple genres with Night Manor being a horror point-and-click adventure game where you wake up in a manor after crashing your car and a maniac is out to get you.
This game alone had me interested in the collection and there's still 49 other games to try. I'm a tad disappointed there's no real deaths in this game but it does establish the vibe for this game very well when you're playing for the first time. Not so much for this playthrough where I know what to do and take out the maniac pretty quickly (normally, anything that makes sound will immediately attract him otherwise he shows up periodically and this forces you to hide or run far enough away). I thought I could run for every time you have to engage with him but I guess you don't have enough rooms on the first time (anytime you enter a room you can hide you'll automatically try to do so and except for things like the bushes outside you'll find the thing you hid behind to be destroyed).
You have two major endings based on whether you escape in the car (which is the same whether or not you've shot the maniac) or fully finish, however the true ending then has a slight variation based on whether you made it through deathless or not.
The deaths are the same but there's an extra line for failing to hide or running back towards the maniac. If you take too long to leave the room you get the same death message.

It still looks incredible and the bosses are alright. I just have to remember that dashing doesn't give iframes (quite a few dumb mistakes on the mushroom boss). The crystal goat fight is more or less similar to its fight in the earlier demo only that you don't transform and can defeat it normally.
My Social Media Stuff: discord.gg/z6WhfmcYXu twitter.com/CrankyTemplarNocturnals - Playthrough & Crash and Burn EndingCrankyTemplar2024-09-15 | Ending 4 where Ted is both cold and incompetent is pretty tricky to get and I've seen some folks asking how to get it so here's my playthrough that managed it.
The big things seem to be shoot the glass, lie to Mia, don't kill Maggie (this forces you into Ending 5 or 6), fail the lighter QTE, leave the guitar, and tell Maggie off when she shows up again to get her killed. This is in addition to other cold actions like needling Diego about his past, talking about strength in numbers for why Ted wants to find a group, saying you don't mind corpses, and telling him to get over it when he does give his backstory. Asking how he learned to stitch and thanking him for saving you also give dialogue about Ted's lack of survival skills which is why I picked them (but I can't say for sure that they're required).
I'm not sure what additional incompetent options might exist that won't push you into a warm relationship with Diego. Saving the guitar will do this and I even got pushed into a warm relationship by just telling the truth to Mia instead of lying. I also don't know the impact of choices like gathering food vs. logs (shooting the crow is definitely a cold action but I think it also adds competent points), so for some like wearing the glasses I'm assuming that saying no because it's getting dark adds competent points but I can't say with certainty.
You can tell at points you're on the right path, as if you gather logs then having too many cold points will have Ted complain about Diego giving the crow a berry. Diego will also say he needs to keep an eye on you when you enter the tunnels if you're incompetent. You'll know for sure if you're warm or cold depending on whether Diego opens up when you enter the prom room or not. As well, the question about whether the world could go back to normal will reveal if you're warm/cold if you agree with Diego or competent/incompetent if you disagree.

The Ultimate Cure achievement requires playing through the entire game with the critical blaster chip (doubles damage but HP is set to 1) as soon as it becomes available and defeating every boss.
Expect some de-rusting and plenty of dumb mistakes as I try to defeat the Dooper Virus and save dogkind.

When Ted goes through dead towns looking for a new community disaster strikes at the local furniture store and leaves him having to find another way out of town before a nocturnal hunts him down. This is a pretty short game (about an hour for a first play) that has some simpler Telltale like gameplay.
The game was a bit shorter and with less deaths than expected but I enjoyed my time and figuring out how to reach the endings. There's a total of six endings, one for each of the quadrants between cold/warm and competent/incompetent and then two more endings if you decide to shoot Maggie when escaping the furniture store. I'm not sure if the friendship option for what normally would be Ending 6 would, in fact, count as Ending 6 or Ending 5 (since Ending 6's achievement specifically says a goodbye kiss which only occurs with the romance option). Ending 4 was the most challenging one to get since while there are a few incompetent actions Ted can make, the biggest one is saving the guitar and if you do that it seems almost certain you'll be pushed into a warm relationship with Diego (when you need to be both cold and incompetent).
I'd recommend this if you like Telltale style games just be aware that it's a short game going into it and most of the content is replaying to see how things change for the different endings.

I don't know if more episodes are intended but I certainly wouldn't be opposed to more, although I kind of preferred getting stupid game overs from crashing into vehicles like in the second episode. I'm also totally disappointed that the final episode didn't have an ex-girlfriend cultist stalking you and breaking into your home as the final antagonist.

Unfortunately, it's the same death that only occurs in the finale and from doing the wrong thing. Like with the third game onward crashing your car or jumping into traffic won't cause a game over.
After Rick leaves the bedroom going downstairs prior to the second phone call will have him kill you (and he'll hear that phone call from anywhere in the house and find you). You can also get some snarky comments throwing items at people in the office or using the fishing line on Mike but sadly nothing bad will happen.
