Off the Board and May I Scraplift You? with @pineapplepapersA Ton of 100% Awesome || #LOAD1024 Day 17 || Bramble Fox October ChallengeScrappy Kathy2024-10-17 | Hello Friends! I've doubled up today since I had two design team posts due on the 17th -- I just combined them into a single, busy chaotic page that makes me smile. For LOAD I demonstrated how quickly I can over-embellish a page and I used a whole slew of embellishments including 13 tags. For the Bramble Fox challenge I used those tags plus 11Persppextives, a couple flair buttons and both acetate and vellum subtitle pieces.
I printed the photo grid in the middle of a 12x12 photo paper and then filled in the white space around the grid. Thanks for watching and I'll see you next time.Living Your Best Life || Scrap Squad Sunday with September Hip KitScrappy Kathy2024-10-13 | I love grids and fishtail banners and mixing orange and blue! The September Hip Kit is such fun to play with.....lots of generic icons as well as those for a back-to-school theme. I decided to insert myself into B's college dorm move-in and it turned out great -- I was able to help and his new housemates/frat brothers were very welcoming and gracious to this old lady.
For today's LOAD prompts I included 10 enamel dots. The only thing on the page that's not in the September kit is the bee sticker I added off camera because, well, I just don't do B pages without Bees!
Thanks for watching and I'll see you next time when I may or may not be scrapping backwards! This Moment || #LOAD1024 Day 12 || Scrap a Sketch #137 || Paper Rose Watercolors & ScribblesScrappy Kathy2024-10-12 | I've used this week's SaS sketch and today's LOAD prompts for this page -- the "unexpected" element of the page is the guys' reaction to the way the game went -- a loss to a team they were expected to dominate, and the complementary colors are blue and orange. I love the colors and the hand-drawn flowers in this collection!
Thanks for watching and I'll see you next time.Memorable || FIRST PAGE IN 10 WEEKS!!! || #LOAD1024 Day 11Scrappy Kathy2024-10-11 | Still not easy to type but it feels SO good to be scrapping again! I have lots of catching up to do and I might not be at my normal pace but you should see me popping up in the occasional series or collaboration hop -- and I have not one but two "features" on October 17 -- so I'll be working on those this weekend.
This page is a sort of Halloween-ish -- the happy purchase being made in the photo is my all-time favorite Halloween stamp. And if you were on my card list in 2013 I can almost guarantee you got a card made with this stamp! I mixed a couple collections, used a few other stamps and some Bramble Fox goodies for my re-entry page!

I've used the "Christmas Tradittions" collection of printables, a holly stencil and an August premium subscription sketch for my page -- all to showcase a photo of my family on Christmas Day in 1973. I love the addition of yellow to the traditional colors and icons in this collection as well as all the various shades of red and green. I used Vicki Boutin "Spearmint" texture paste and an acetate film strip, a Vicki Boutin chipboard banner for my title and a notebook border punched strip, all for the Summer Challenge . (That's why you may see this in the challenge gallery before publication of this video -- I'm working way ahead so I have some videos ready for when i'm recovering and not able to do them....)
Be sure to check out the full selection of printables including several very different holiday collections. They're all available for easy download at www.scrapasketch.com and they're great for snagging a whole collection for holiday cards and pages or for adding to current collections that you want to spice up a bit.

He wasn't in the mood for photos and asked me not to take any til the move-in. I didn't listen (but did get his approval to scrap the ones I took). Then his dad's facebook memories had a pic of him 15 years ago on his first day of school ever, pre-school with his giant Spiderman backpack!
BrambleFox Challenge this month is to use hidden journaling, and that plus the whole school theme inspired the "book" idea. Everything paper on this page and in the book came from the Spectrum Gardenia 6x8 paper stack and all the rest came from BrambleFox! I'll be taking photos later today to fill in the empty pages in the book, making this a multi-photo memory page with the full story documented and nicely hidden on the last page of the book.
Thanks for watching! Here's the link list for the other Mini Paper fans and I'll update this box with news on my recovery....I'm filming on the 10th, surgery is the 13th and this goes live on the 17th. Update: Much more pain than expected but I’m home and able to dress myself (major accomplishment!) but hard to type so will be quiet on social media.

So sorry for the mistake, but it did give me a chance to see how I'll be able to work during my recovery from shoulder surgery! I used week 4 rules for the Summer Challenge so the page will be published in their gallery before this video goes live or shows up on Instagram or the Scrap Backwards Facebook Group.
Thanks for watching.....I'll keep you posted on what's next!Enjoy Every Moment || Scrap Squad Sunday & Summer ChallengeScrappy Kathy2024-08-11 | Happy Scrap Squad Sunday -- maybe my last process video for this series until October after I've recovered from shoulder surgery and am out of the sling and have permission to raise my arm to worktable height during filming. I love love love this week's scraplift by Michelle for DLS Designs! I love the layered, distressed papers, the frames and embellies coming from the sides, the vertical title and the little side cluster. Everything! I used scraps that were already on my desk and grabbed a Bramble Fox stencil with some Vicki Boutin Creative FX Iridescent Glaze and went to town. The photo is a precious one, showing the bond between Katie and Ava that still exists even though they're 6 years apart in age. I mixed colors aand collections and generally had a blast with this page and I love how it all leads the eye to this less-than-perfect photo of a more-than-perfect memory.
Thanks for watching and I'll see you when I see you.....Stay tuned as I work on some ideas to keep making videos without all the reaching to scrap....Clusters as Page Starters plus a bit of Summer ChallengeScrappy Kathy2024-08-10 | This is kind of an "extra" video showing three pages I made using clusters as page-starters and building from there with items on the list for this week's Summer Challenge. I've had lots of interest in how to use the clusters made in a recent class, especially since there's another cluster class coming up. I've struggled with ways to use pre-made clusters in the past (and I have a little storage box filled with them to prove it!). It wasn't until I realized that none of these clusters was likely to "fit" onto a page designed from a scraplift or a sketch (although that's a challenge I might take up!) and, in the case of my previous clusters made from leftovers and scraps, it might be hard to coordinate other embellishments with those used in the cluster. So I'll give you a disclaimer now -- The clusters you've seen me start pages with recently are all from the Discover + Create cluster class that Vicki taught -- she designed them and provided us with photos as guides and we made them together in the online class. AND I happen to have D+C and several other VB collections up front and center in my craft area so it was easy to pull papers, fussycuts and packaged embellishments that coordinated with my clusters.
In this video I "finish" pages that I never intended to film and they all meet the 5-point criteria for Summer Challenge, and while they all use some of the same supplies, they're all going in different albums so that doesn't bother me.
In a future video I'll dig up some of my older clusters and maybe even build a few just to refresh ourselves on how it's done, and then we'll see how we can build some pages around them. Thanks for letting me know you'd be interest in this! It's something that I know I'll benefit from and it might inspire you to have a play as well!Smile Often || Mixed Media Mayhem & Summer ChallengeScrappy Kathy2024-08-09 | The Mayhem recipe calls for a stencil (I used two), some washi (I used three) and two or more sprays (I used four). The Summer Challenge items this week are rectangle (I doodled a rectangular frame around the stenciled film strips and used two rectangular phrase strips), yellow (in a couple places), wood (two tiny wooden hearts), texture paste (I made splats) and a border punch or die (I used a scalloped border punch on a strip of washi tape). So never let it be said that i don't OVERDO scrappy challenges! I used mostly Bold and Bright by Vicki Boutin, lots of Bramble Fox goodies including acrylic accents and the two stencils) , a VB Mixed Media chipboard title piece and the new Tim Holtz Distress Spritz sprays.
Thank you for watching and I'll see you tomorrow for more fun using pre-made clusters to start pages. In the meantime, here's the Mayhem playlist so you can see how others on the team interpreted this week's recipe: youtu.be/Ii6WzpisQ3ALifes A Beach || My 2K Subbies Celebration Hop & GIVEAWAY!Scrappy Kathy2024-08-08 | Hello Friends! It's time to celebrate all of you and how much you mean to me with a hop featuring lots of scrappy goodness and, oh yeah, PRIZES! Please subscribe if you haven't already, like and comment on this video to be eligible for the prize drawing to celebrate this happy milestone. If you're new to my channel you may not know it's a little different -- no slick production here! I get ready to create, start the camera and start talking to all my imaginary friends and boom, what you see and what I say and what I make (warts and all) is what you get. All the goofs and mistakes are unedited, just like in real life....
It's also the 8th (IYKYK), the BIG 8th -- what would have been our 43rd anniversary -- so I'm celebrating with a happy page featuring a wedding photo, our favorite colors (all of them) and all my favorite designers on one page! I miss John on this date and on all days but I wanted this page (and maybe this day) to be a happy representation of the rich and colorful life we shared in the 40 years we had together.
I hope you enjoyed this video -- I really wanted to make it special -- and I hope to fit in a few more before I have my shoulder surgery on the 13th. And who knows what I'll cook up during my recovery when I can't do process videos???
So I had an idea -- why not START with the cluster and build the page around it? I designed the pages myself rather than using a sketch or lift but it could work any way you'd like -- If your sketch has a central photo block, let the embellishment cluster anchor that block and include a small-ish photo or even a vertical strip of photos to balance the page. If your sketch or lift has two photos, sub the cluster for one of the photos. If there are two blocks with photos in each, again, sub the cluster for one and include similar embellishments from the same collection to balance the two blocks. If the pre-made cluster is large, use a larger photo and repeat elements, colors, etc. to build balance.
This is one of 5 such pages I've made using clusters from the Discover and Create collection. I'll illustrate my process in a video covering three of these pages a few days from now. Hope you'll tune in, and please let me know if quick design ideas like this interest you. It's the kind of video I'll be able to make when recovering from my surgery.....
Thanks for watching and I'll see you tomorrow for my 2000-subbie hop and GIVEAWAY!!Excited to be Here! || Its 5 OClock Somewhere on Scrap Backwards TuesdayScrappy Kathy2024-08-06 | I went backwards from the sketch (an August subscription sketch from ScrapaSketch.com) and cut papers from the paper pad in my kit, selected floral ephemera and fussycuts that I thought wouldn't clash with the floral block from the pad and I added the border punching and texture paste and wood to meet Summer Challenge rules -- THEN I decided the colors and florals, while not strictly tropical, could be MADE to look tropical by adding a few bits here and there, and that would make the page perfect for the pics we took at the Coral Reefer Band concert last Friday. I originally planned to mat all the little photos and use them on the floral background and then I found the title piece and it took the place of two of the pics AND it needed a white background.....SOOOOO it led me to what you saw in the beginning of the video.
I included the clock which doesn't read 5 but it's 5 somewhere, right? I included the radio because that's where we all first heard Margritaville and the flip flop is a nod to that song as well. And I'm pretty sure someone in the band has a guitar shaped like this one and if they don't, they should get one!
This was a fun page, fond memory, wonderful sound track to have had for my life with John and to all I say "Bubbles Up"!Layout Share, Summer Challenge & Happy Birthday to @ScrappyAdam !!!Scrappy Kathy2024-08-05 | There are a few @ScrappyAdam pages in this share and today is his birthday so it only seems appropriate to send all the good wishes and to say that there are SO many people who are thrilled to see him creating again!
I think there are 24 pages here, all but 4 with process videos. I always love Summer Challenge and make some of my favorite pages while trying to adapt the week's "recipe" to my story. I started slowly this year (darn Covid!) but I think this week I'm getting up to speed.
Thanks for watching and I'll see you with my last share for a while on the 12th, assuming my surgery will go ahead as planned on the 13th. I am lining up some organizing and other projects to make a few videos in place of the processes I won't be able to do......Ferry Cross the Mersey || Summer Challenge with June Hip Kit & Scrap a SketchScrappy Kathy2024-08-04 | I just loved this song when I was in high school and it partly fueled my dream of visiting Liverpool one day -- which I did almost 60 years later! -- in the company of my besties Adam, Helen and Lisa -- the same Lisa who designed this sketch and stencil I used, and is the mom of the cutie in the top photo. When I saw this pic of Gerry Marsden on Instagram I grabbed it because I remembered a pic of Johnny on that ferry with the same Liverpool skyline in the background!
I've used the June kit from Hip Kit Club, including the negative space from the cityscape die, perfect for the photos.
This was done for the Summer Challenge which calls for hexagons, blue, metal, a stencil and stitching -- got 'em all....

It arrived just in time for this week's Scrap Squad lift! I've managed to stay fairly true to the original and used two favorite beach pics that keep me in a "Sunny Memories" state of mind.....

I may or may not be traveling down memory lane a lot this month....Serious Chillin in Tonga || Summer Challenge with Julys Hip KitsScrappy Kathy2024-08-03 | I will just say this here: Hip Kit Club has hit it out of the park with July's kits! As much as I love the city-themed June kit I am swooning over the gorgeous tropical images and vibrant-yet-pastel-ish colors of July's. I ordered the extra embellishment kit this time in addition to the main kit (and a couple of must-have dies) and I couldn't be happier.
I knew I had to use this gorgeous background paper for hexagon week in the Summer Challenge and I managed all 5 of the points: hexagon, blue, metal, stencil and stitching (although the stitching is stamped and the metal is a metallic finish on the puffy hearts!).

How's that for a bit of name-dropping?!? Today's page is one of 2 "companion" pages I'm doing for a few challenges, each featuring a favorite photo from the Crafty Beach Bash in April where we all re-connected.
I love the simplicity and flexibility of Lisa's sketch (and if you can't get enough of Lisa's sketches she has a new BOOK out! It's downloadable and printable already at www.scrapasketch.com and it'll be available in hardcopy soon!)
I mixed papers and ephemera from the two collections and the title is from Vicki's Mixed Media Collection available at JoAnn.
I got it all the Mayhem elements of splatters, metal and fiber as well as the Summer Challenge items: hexagon, blue, metal, stencil, stitching (added after I stopped filming). Here's the Mayhem playlist so you can see how others interpreted this week's recipe: MMM playlist: youtu.be/Ii6WzpisQ3A

From there I picked papers, both for the colors and the patterns, and then stickers and flowers. The bright colored flowers Rebecca used are much more my style and preference but I don't hate the Pinkfresh florals in my kit. Adding in some brighter bits as accents sort of brings it closer to my style and I'll look around for photos that might look good with the color palette I ended up with.
Thanks for watching -- see you next time and I hope to have a better voice by then !Always On The Go || Scrap Squad Sunday with the Hustle & Bustle of the June Hip KitScrappy Kathy2024-07-28 | I just love the cityscape and big city vibes in the June Hip Kit -- I was a small-town girl who dreamed of the big city and when I grew up and traveled my love for the hustle and bustle just intensified. This page isn't about any of my trips to New York City (although I do have LOTS of unscrapped pics I could've used) but rather about the Happy Birthday message to Mick Jagger on July 26 of last year in Times Square for his 80th. Yesterday was his 81st and I didn't see any pics of greetings this year so I borrowed these from Instagram postings last year.
I've managed to use quite a bit of the great ephemera pieces, including some that I partially covered just to get the color and the shape. I added a pink circle and a grey painty flair from my stash but otherwise it's all from the June main kit. I added orange ink splattters because I thought they'd show up on the navy but now they've dried a bit, i see that's not the case. Oh well...
Thanks for watching and I'll see you next time! I may be able to squeeze in one more page before entries close for Week 2 of the Summer Challenge and then the fun starts all over again with brand new rules. Go Team 3!!The Best Birthday Treats || Simple Stories Saturday with a Summer ChallengeScrappy Kathy2024-07-27 | I did a mash up of several Simple Stories Collections here starting with "Let's Party" a favorite birthday line, "Sunkissed" with the best colors SS has ever used, aand a zig zag background from a travel line called "You Are Here". There are bits from other collections including the frame and the geotag as well. I aadded in a few Bramble Fox perspextives and a flair from The Flair Hut to finish off the story of a birthday margarita flight.....
Thanks for watching and I'll see you next time!Oh! The Places || Pinkfresh Friday & Summer Challenge & Parking CloserScrappy Kathy2024-07-26 | I finally broke down and got a handicapped parking permit after a couple experiences at concerts and restaurants where I definitely tested the limits of my back's capacity to hold me upright and keep me moving without falling. So this page documents that event in a way that helped me get past the embarrassment about being this old/this inform/this out of shape/etc. and focus on the benefits of being safer and being able to look forward to things I'd been avoiding (or dreading). I actually made a deal with myself that I'd stop ordering groceries and do my own shopping (and lugging of bags down to my basement abode) since I have the sticker and can park closer to the store.
I've used a Lovely Blooms background paper and let the arched shapes define "paths" for parking embellishments from aboutt 8 different collections along with lots of BrambleFox goodie. It was a stash-busting page and I love how it turned out. I hope you're inspired to try something outside your comfort zone like this was for me!

I found it while searching for Christmas photos for yesterday's hop and I just couldn't NOT scrap it. The huge photo was from his last high school football game and he's moved on from there, enlisting in the Army Reserves and heading to university in a few weeks. He's tough and brilliant and he has a great future ahead of him. But for now he's got lots of balls in the air -- which is where I got the idea for the background design!
I managed to get the Blue/Black/Gold recipe covered for Mixed Media Mayhem and I managed 4 of the 5 prompts for the Summer Challenge: Square, Pink, Button & Ink.

I did a few things "wrong" (as if there's any such thing in scrapbooking!) and I might choose a different background paper now that it's all done, but overall I love the brightness and the whimsy of it all. And it captures a memorable moment, and I guess that's what it's all about!

Apparently Silver likes the sound of my voice and seems to follow my fingers as I cobble together my pages. With Elizabeth's permission I grabbed the photo, filtered it to make the colors pop and scrapped it with a collection that I think Silver (and Elizabeth) will like, Kaleidoscope by 49 & Market. The "hanging with the best" phrase strip was actually in the chipboard stickers for the collection and that gave me the idea to "hang" the pink square by a button. So there are now several ways to interpret the title!
Thanks for watching and I'll see you tomorrow for Christmas in.....July!Love This || Birthday Scraplift, Summer Challenge and a gift from @SuzieQScrapsScrappy Kathy2024-07-23 | I was so excited with the precious Happy Mail I received last week from my good friend Sharon so I took a photo to let her know I'd received it. It was a small bit inside an envelope containing one of the most awesome crafty gifts I've ever seen but it had gorgeous green jewelss and the cutest silver turtle and it was meant to address an ongoing issue -- plugging the tip of my glue bottle -- so I've given it a whole page. The page design is from the Happy Birthday scraplift at Scrap Squad celebrating another trip around the sun for the amazing Rebecca Meadows. I done care much for stitching (unless done by someone else!) or for triangles in any case, and the gorgeous original featured stitched triangles. I ditched the stitching, stuck with the triangles and dug into my scraps from various Vicki Boutin collections including Storyteller, Fernwood, Discover+Create and Sweet Rush. I got the requisite square, the color pink, lots of flair and ink splatters to earn 4 points for my team in the Summer Challenge, so this is a multi-purpose page.
Thanks for watching and I'll see you next time -- Happy Birthday Rebecca!Life is a Journey || Scrap Backwards for the Summer Challenge!Scrappy Kathy2024-07-22 | I started with the Summer Challenge prompts for Week 2 and that led to the immediate choice of photos because it calls for more than 2 and I only had one set of multiple photos -- three stage shots from last weekend's concert. Oddly enough that pointed me directly to one of the sticker sheets I had -- leading to the paper choices and all the other embellishments. I killed a sticker sheet (yay!!) and found ways to use some of the more "random" icons and phrases in a formmmat that conveys the energy and fun of that evening. I mixed colors and themes and ended up with a perfect page that's much more than simply documenting that we went to the concert. The photos show the light conditions as the evening wore on and, to me, the embellishments convey the music and merriment everywhere as there was truly a lot of dancing under the stars!
Thanks for watching and I'll see you next week with another Scrap Backwards page using the Week 3 prompts from the Summer Challenge. I can't wait to see what awesomeness @ScrappyAdam has created this week! It's SOOOO good to see him back in YouTube-land!HUGE Layout Share!! Challenges, Series, Hops & More!Scrappy Kathy2024-07-21 | I lost count of the pages in this long overdue layout share which covers most of May's LOAD (Layout A Day), all my regular series and hops and all 12 of Scrap Squad's 12 Days of Summer Scraplifts -- spanning May 5 thru July 12. With a few interruptions and disruptions in this time period I've still managed a fair few pages and as I went through them, I find that I really like most of them.
Thank you for watching and I'll try to be more timely with these shares. My next share will start with the pages done for Week 1 of the Summer Challenge at Scrapbooking Challenges -- UK and I may do weeks 1, 2 & 3 in one share and weeks 4, 5 & 6 in another. When Summer Challenge is running I tend to use their prompts in all my regular series and. hops but there's a Mini LOAD coming in August AND I have my shoulder surgery on August 13 so who knows????
I believe all these pages have videos out there but if you can't find one you're looking for please let me know and I'll link you up!Live Life In Full Bloom || Scraplifting with a Recipe || Scrap Squad Sunday & Summer ChallengeScrappy Kathy2024-07-21 | I love this multi-photo original by Mandy Melville for Cocoa Vanilla -- and one of the things i liked the best waas the subtle mixed media look of the background paper. I used a 12x12 stencil and blended two colors of ink for my background, used only 2 photos instead of 4 and filled out the rest with fussycut cards, one of which I'm using as my title. It's all Paige Evans here -- a mix of Garden Shoppe, Splendid and Adventurous -- with a few Bramble Fox pieces to make it sing.
Thanks for watching and I'll see you next time!I LOVE New York || Mini Paper Madness on a page about an early morning run thru Central ParkScrappy Kathy2024-07-20 | The 6x6 pad I used is really not my taste -- a bit too pastel, a bit too muted, a bit too vintage -- but I decided to try to make it work by adding a few modern touches, keeping generally with the color palette but pumping up the saturation a bit. I kind of like (or LOVE) how it turned out and I think it's perfect for the photos of the park. I'm really happy to have used 4 sheets of paper I might otherwise have recycled and I'm doubly happy I managed all the requirements for the Summer Challenge over at Scrapbooking Challenges UK on Facebook. Go Team 3!
I mixed em all up for a page about how crazy the tubing has gotten at one of our old haunts on the Guadalupe River in the Texas Hill Country. The photo is from social media but it brought back a faded memory that I wanted to capture on a page.
I stitched an arrow in red (double dipping!), stamped bubbles and stringy circles, added bubbly texture thru a stencil, used washi and a border sticker with a diamond pattern, nuvo in flower centers and used the Carly Simon song title that was already on the metal key fob charm as my title. All requiremments met!!!
Thanks for watching and be sure to check out others using the Mixed Media Mayhem recipe at this playlist: youtu.be/Ii6WzpisQ3ASweet As Can Bee || Bramble Fox July Challenge || The Sweetest Part of Travel The People!Scrappy Kathy2024-07-17 | It's a travel page with two photos and a stencil, all about meeting @ScrappyAdam and his housemates and his mom on my trip to the UK two years ago. Adam just recently shared a few pics I didn't have and of course I just had to scrap them because these generous and welcoming people are the sweetest memories I have of that wonderful trip.
I've used Bold and Bright by Vicki Boutin with some new and some older Perspextives, Woodies and Paper Snips from Bramble Fox , and I've also used this week's recipe in the Summer Challenge at Scrapbook Challenges UK: diamonds, red, washi, nuvo and quote or song lyrics
Thanks for watching and I hope you'll check out the awesome goodies in the Bramble Fox shop at www.bramblefox.co.uk -- SO many options to feed your addiction!Adventure Today || FIRST page made with my FIRST kit from Hip Kit Club!! || Around Town June 24Scrappy Kathy2024-07-12 | It's the final day of Scrap Squad's 12 Days of Summer Scraplifts AND it's Mixed Media Mayhem Friday with a recipe of paint/stamp/chip AND itts my first page with my first kit from HKC -- the amazing "Around Town" collection from last month. When I saw their design team's pages I just knew I had to have it! Everything on this page is from the June main kit except the cityscape die which came separately -- and the "today" chip title is from Vicki Boutin as is the paint I used to alter it, and the stitching stamp is from Tim Holtz. Here's the playlist where you can see what my friends cooked up with the same recipe this week: MMM playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist...
The original by Sasha Farina is just stunning and I learned a lot trying to replicate her clusters. At first this seemed daunting but the HKC ephemera and chipboard stickers and enamel shapes fit the bill perfectly! My son's photo lent itself to the design and can I just say I absolutely LOVE the subway map background paper???
Thanks for watching and for following my scraplifts the past 12 days! I'll be taking a break from scraplifting this weekend but I will have a giant layout share and I'll do some behind-the-scenes work to have videos ready for you while I'm out having shoulder surgery and recovering in the days and weeks after.Carpool Karaoke || Scrap Squads Day 11 Scraplift of Josefin van der Hoeven using Bold+BrightScrappy Kathy2024-07-12 | This was a quick and easy "everyday moment" kind of page that's bold and bright and colorful -- and I love it! I fussycut the center circle from a patterned paper in the B+B collection and embellished with vellum and acetate ephemera and a few stickers, wrapping the title around the circle just as Josefin had done.
Thanks for watching and I'll see you tomorrow for the 12th and final day of Scrap Squad's Summer Scraplifts event. I'm planning to combine it with Mixed Media Mayhem and at this moment I have no idea what the scraplift is going to be so your guess is as good as mine whether the recipe can be used on that type of page! What A Colorful Life We Had || Scraplifting Becki Adams with a mix of Vicki Boutin AwesomenessScrappy Kathy2024-07-11 | This is the Day 10 lift at Scrap Squad's 12 Days of Summer Scraplifts -- a lovely tag page by Becki Adams for Hip Kit Club's Design Team -- and since July 10 is the anniversary of John's proposal, it's a great day to celebrate the awesome, adventurous, exciting, varied and very colorful life we shared for the next 40-ish years. I dipped into Color Kaleidoscope, Fernwood, Color Study and Bold + Bright for my page and I justt LOVE how well it conveys my exact thoughts on all of it. There are airplanes, cars, globes, fish, hibiscus, and seagulls because those were all part of that colorful life. From Ixtapa to Fort Knox tto Galveston Bay to a silly movie with all the grandkids, we were always moving and always planning our next adventures. Crappaw is missed deeply by us all and I'll plead guilty to feeling sad way more often than I'd like but planning and making and looking at this page reminded me of the good times and it all made me smile......
Thanks for watching and I'll have Day 11 later tonight! On the Road Again || A Quick Scraplift using Adventurous by Paige EvansScrappy Kathy2024-07-09 | I scaled back a bit on today's lift -- Day 9 in Scrap Squad's 12 Days of Summer Scraplifts -- using pre-cut flag banner stickers, a border sticker, chip frame, ticket and floral and lots of florals from the sticker book. It records the fact that Willie Nelson, who fell ill on the day we were to see him in concert with Bob Dylan, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, is back on the road again -- and his own song is perfect as a title and a philosophy: "....the life I love is making music with my friends..."
This was easy peasy because everything came from the same collection -- one that's new enough that there are still lots of choices for embellishing! Thanks for watching and I'll see you tomorrow for Day 10 of 12.Hello Rain || Kit Reveal and Using it for a ScrapliftScrappy Kathy2024-07-08 | Hello and welcome to a new kit, a new philosophy and a new page for Scrap Backwards AND the Day 8 scraplift in Scrap Squad's 12 Days of Summer Scraplifts! I went on a tear this weekend organizing scrappy supplies and in the process I disassembled my long-running Scrap Backwards kit, tossing some bits (mostly smaller scraps) and storing the rest in other areas (with designers or by color). I settled on keeping all the sticker sheets but narrowing all the papers down to a single, mostly unused Pink Paislee paper pad that I think will work with most everything else I have -- even if I have to use the white side of the paper! I moved the ephemera and other embellishments out of the kit and into an area where they'll be accessible for any pages. I think it'll be easier to use these things up if they're right by (or on) my desk during every video. And I will more easily get back to the founding principle of Scrap Backwards -- letting a sticker sheet spark an idea that leads to all other choices -- papers, other embellishmments and photos.
And I couldn't be happier with the page I made! It's a floral explosion (which I fully expect in the garden after the drenching rain on Saturday afternoon) with a couple nods to rain and a bit of sunshine waiting to come back out. But the happiest part is how many gems I discovered and used on this page -- none from matching collections and lots that I love but just hadn't used. It's filled with things that surprised even me!
Thanks for watching! For those of you wondering why my 8th page isn't a John page -- although we did always celebrate the 8th of every month, even July, July 8 usually took a back seat to July 10, the anniversary of his proposal. So I'll do a John page on Wednesday......Wow || A Fun Grid Scraplift Mixing Vicki Boutin Collections for #12daysofsummerscrapliftsScrappy Kathy2024-07-07 | Happy Scrap Squad Sunday, this time doing the Day 7 lift in Scrap Squad's 12 Days of Summer Scraplifts. There's a little "Where to Next", a little "Sweet Rush", some "Discover + Create" and lots of "Bold + Bright" on this fun grid page with pics of B goofing around on a Unicorn floaty a few years back. Can I just say I LOVE the yellow background with its pre-done splatters and the stampy and painty ones I added? It brings out the other rainbow colors and makes the watery blue look even more watery. I used a few bits from Bramble Fox and I used VB's paint markers to change the color scheme of the adorable Unicorn.
Thanks for watching and I'll see you tomorrow for the Day 8 lift and because it's Scrap Backwards Monday I'll use my SB kit AND I'll have a bit of info about how I'll proceed with SB over the coming months. Not exactly a "kit reveal" but more of a "kit strategy".You Had Me At Aloha || Stamping a Frame on a Scraplift using Aloha by PhotoplayScrappy Kathy2024-07-06 | I'm doing double duty today -- following the prompt to stamp a photo frame for this month's Stamp It Like It's Hot hop and doing all that on the Day 6 lift in Scrap Squad's 12 Days of Summer Scraplifts. This photo is a pretty standard everyday pic, no special occasion, not a tropical locale and no one said "Aloha" on that day -- I just LOVE the gorgeous smile on John's cute face, that's all.
I used Violet Studio and P13 stamps to make the frame and I cut circles from the Aloha collection from Photoplay and trimmed with enamel dots and lots of colorful Perspextives from Bramble Fox. After I stopped filming I added a few phrase strips from Cocoa Vanilla Sunkissed.
Thanks for watching and I'll see you tomorrow! Meanwhile I hope you'll check out the awesome stamped frames at the links in this playlist: youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCfSqErOPJop2FmYP8MFYgbITZ5zBn_KlBig Plans || A Summery Scraplift with a bit of Mixed Media MayhemScrappy Kathy2024-07-05 | This week's Mixed Media Mayhem recipe calls for Sparkle, Stamping and Stenciling -- perfect for today's lift of a fun original by Brianna Lepper for Day 5 of 12 Days of Summer Scraplifts at Scrap Squad. Bri's page had a sunburst shining up from a watery base, settting off her poolside photo and lots of colorful embellishments. I also have a pool photo, one taken on our 39th anniversary in 2020 making big plans for our 40th "....when this Covid thing is over...." I used a Sweet Rush patterned paper for the watery waves, a Bramble Fox stencil for the sunburst, stitching, bubble and turtle stamps, My Sunshine sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps, a frame from Discover + Create and all tthe rest is from Bold + Bright -- also by Vicki Boutin. I love how it turned out -- Bold & Bright & Busy & Fun -- just the way I remember that wonderful day.
Thanks for watching and I hope you'll check out this playlist for more Mixed Media Mayhem fun with today's recipe: https://www.youtube.com/playlist...Happy Days || A Really Close Scraplift using Cocoa Vanilla Studios Happy DaysScrappy Kathy2024-07-04 | I very rarely stick so close to the original as I did on this page -- I just love Tarrah McLean's page SO much and I just happened to have most of the supplies she used so I thought "why not??" and I used that background sheet that I've been hoarding.....
I filtered the photo of Reese about 20 times before selecting three to use -- I just love this particular pose of her wearing James's sunglassses and I'm shocked that I was able to get a clean screen grab from the video he took. As this was taken I think he was comforting and distracting her from all the fireworks being set off in the neighborhood. Tonight will be even worse so I think she'll need double cuddles.
Thanks for watching and I hope you're inspired to pull out something you've been hoarding and get creative with it today!Wander || Scraplift using Vicki Boutin Mixed Media Paper Pad from JoAnnScrappy Kathy2024-07-03 | I copied the giant chevron in Claire Hawkins's original with the help of a paper-pieced patterned paper in the new VB Mixed Media Paper Pad available at JoAnn and I used several large ephemera pieces from the same release, and I tucked in aa blue title, label and tab from Paige Evans's Adventurous as well as a few Bramble Fox pieces and a 49 and Market film strip. Oh, and a sunflower flair and a Steven Duncan turtle.....
This one was quick and eaasy and I love it! The colors make me happy and the memory makes my heart sing and I hope you all don't mind that I LOVE re-living every possible minute from this epic road trip so I'll be scrapping it for the rest of my life!
Thanks for watching and I'll see you tomorrow!Happy Summer Memories || Using Paige Evanss new Adventurous CollectionScrappy Kathy2024-07-02 | It's Day 2 of Scrap Squad's 12 Days of Summer Scraplifts and the colorful original is by Kylie Kingman -- a gorgeous page filled with hexagons and summery embellishments. I just received a few photos from @ScrappyAdam that I hadn't seen before -- ones that came up in his memories of our cruise 2 years ago last month. SSomehow they seemed perfect for the Paige Evans "Adventurous" collection that just arrived here yesterday, so here it is -- a super colorful travel page about a scrappy cruise that capped off an 18-day adventure in the UK. It was awesome and fun and I surprised myself by going because it was my first trip since John passed away.
Thanks for watching and I'll see you tomorrow for the Day 3 scraplift!Bucket List Weekend || Scraplift 1 at Scrap Squads Summer Event || Multi-Photo PageScrappy Kathy2024-07-01 | I lifted a two-pager, adapted it to a single page format, managed to include 7 photos of vaarying sizes and shapes and finished it off with lots of music-themed elements from Bramble Fox, most of which were SO appropriate to the times when I first listened to Plant and Dylan. I love the overlapping records! And my close-up of Robert Plant shows that even at 70-something he's not only a formidable stage presence but a pretty attractive man. This was a fun evening that ticked off two bucket list artists and although the photos aren't great, the page captures the memory perfectly. Thanks again to Scrap Squad for another awesome lift, and I'm looking forward to the rest of their 12 Days of Summer Scraplifts.
I've used a couple scraps of unknown origin along with lots of Bramble Fox Perspextives and Paper Snips, plus Vicki Boutin chipboard goodies and alpha, all atop "shadow circles" applied thru a Scrap a Sketch stencil.
Thanks for watching and I'll see you tomorrow for the Day 2 lift.Cute || Scrap Squad Sunday scraplift of Julie Taylor using Vicki Boutin Sweet Rush etcScrappy Kathy2024-06-30 | I love this page by Julie and I couldn't wait to get started on the planning because I knew right away the paper I wanted to use because of the multi-color stripe. I dug out lots of stickers and chipboard from other VBoo collections and assembled them on the table and started filming. It's a long video because I made lots of design decisions on the fly and not everything I tried worked out as planned, so I had to drop back and punt a few times.
THIS page represents what I love about "artsy" scrapping -- Julie Taylor is a master at this -- the intricate details that come together organically to showcase her photos or her theme or the products of the companies she's designing for. No matter what, there's an integrity that I SO admire -- everything seems to belong where it is. So I'm OK with taking extra time -- and not editing out any parts of the process -- because that's what makes it special and I want to share ALL of that with you.
There are several different Vicki Boutin collections represented here and a great stencil by Visible Image, and I just love how it all supports the adorable photo of Ava smiling wide, showing off that she's missing her two front teeth. So I love how it turned out and it's one of those pages I'll be proud to have in one of my "Miscellaneous Ava" albums.
Thanks for watching and thanks as always to Scrap Squad for their inspiring choice in scraplifts!Cherish These Moments || Creating with Scrap a Sketch and Simple Stories CollectionsScrappy Kathy2024-06-29 | Hello Friends! It's Simple Stories Saturday and I've used scraps from several summery/beachy collections for a distinctly NOT beachy page. I cut two-inch squares from You are Here, Sunkissed and Just Beachy scraps, fussycut from You are Here and added in a few BrambleFox goodies. After filming I added a few phrase stickers from Sunkissed just for fun. My design is by Lisa Sikorski for Scrap a Sketch.
