WARNING!! Only works in JAPANESE Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Do only if you're willing to risk losing your save file. I RECOMMEND BACKING UP YOUR SAVE FILE!
Surf glitch can be done in the early Japanese versions of Diamond and Pearl by manually commanding your Pokémon to surf while facing down to the door of the Elite Four Aaron's room which is the room of the first fight. Commanding manually means that you go to the menu, choose Pokémon, pick the Pokémon that knows HM03 Surf and select to use it.
For this glitch you have to have the Explorer Kit (たんけんセット) and a Pokémon with the HM02 Fly (そらをとぶ) and HM03 Surf (なみのり).
1. Do the Surf glitch
2. Go 146 steps east
3. Go 254 steps south
4. Save and reset the game
5. Go get your Darkrai
6. Use the boat to get out of the isle
