The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) now consists of 12 members across multiple states, but it was formed in 1920 by a group of six Historically Black Colleges and Universities in Texas: Bishop College, Huston–Tillotson University, Paul Quinn College, Prairie View A&M University, Texas College, and Wiley College. This 1970 home movie captures a game between the organization's only current Texas teams, the Texas Southern University Tigers and Prairie View A&M Panthers. The annual rivalry game, known as the Labor Day Classic since 1985, marks the beginning of the SWAC football season.
