This video is from my visit to the Trelleborg Viking Festival 2017, an annual Viking event held near Slagelse, Denmark.
The Trelleborg Viking Festival brings together reenactors, craftsmen, and visitors to celebrate Viking Age culture in an authentic setting. At the festival, you can explore Viking markets with handmade weapons, jewellery, clothing, food, and other historically inspired items.
The event also features Viking battle reenactments, which I cover across this video series. If you are interested in combat displays, daily life, and Viking craftsmanship, make sure to check the full playlist—some parts may already be available on the channel.
Trelleborg is well suited for a full visit, and you can easily spend 4–6 hours at the site during festival days. There are activities for children as well, including learning how to use a bow or training with sword and shield under supervision.
Outside of festival days, Trelleborg also has a small Viking exhibition. It is quite compact and takes around 10 minutes to see, which is why visiting during a Viking event is highly recommended for the full experience.
