In this week’s trash and treasure hunt, I took my usual bike ride around the neighborhood to see what had been set out in the bulk pickup areas. This video is presented in a more raw and unedited format than my usual ones. After recording, I simply uploaded the video clips and photos, placed them in order, added a title at the beginning, my channel name, and an outro at the end. Nothing was cut out, so you can see exactly what the process looks like from start to finish.
To give the video some background atmosphere, I played an audio recording of A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole, one of my favorite books, while riding. I know these videos don’t get many views, but some people enjoy seeing the full experience, including the parts I would normally trim out.

This week’s most striking find was a very large, textured painting of a young woman. The artwork included small pieces of jewelry, mirrors, and fabric attached to the surface to create a three-dimensional effect in her dress and headdress. Although one side of the painting had been damaged by liquid at some point, it was still an impressive piece, standing at least six feet tall.
At another stop, there was a large amount of quality furniture set out, including several solid wooden chairs, a nice lamp, and an unusual octagonal game table that appeared to be some type of bumper billiards or snooker-style table with a wooden top that converts it into a regular table. There were also other useful items like a laundry cart, a shopping cart, lawn furniture, and some good pieces of scrap wood.
I also picked up a textbook that looks like it may be worth between $20 and $60. One small but interesting visual moment was a mirror placed on the ground over a curb marking that said “Guest.” The mirror had a cutout that framed the word perfectly, making it stand out in an unexpected way.
The weather was cool and comfortable, in the 50s to 60s, and overall it was a pleasant morning for riding and exploring.
