Train horns! is a video series that listens to different types of air horns used on North American locomotives at railroad crossings.
Part 7 features the Nathan Airchime P3. This video is a bit shorter since this is all of the recordings I could find. Some of these trains appear in longer videos, which links can be found below (or in the cards tab).

The P3 was a common horn on the Southern Pacific, and found to a lesser extent than the P5 on the Illinois Central and Southern Railway. This horn has become scarce over the years, but still exists in some capacity on most Class I railroads: most former SP horns are now on Union Pacific locomotives; some early UP SD70M's were delivered with P3's. Some ex-BN and ex-Santa Fe units can be heard with these horns as well. Most P3's on Canadian railroads were added to their roster from acquiring units from US locomotives (SOO and former Oakway SD60's), but this is not always the case as a few Canadian Pacific and CEFX AC4400CW's wear P3's. We'll see some ex-SOU units still retaining P3's, as well as some NS units that ended up with these horns. Norfolk Southern has been swapping out P3's on many of their locomotives since 2017.
