Tuesday, October 17 marks the first night of an almost month-long run for Theatre Calgary’s @TheatreCalgary latest production, Made In Italy.
Created by award-winning Edmonton-based actor, writer and director, Farren Timoteo, Made In Italy is a semi-autobiographical comedy-drama inspired by his father’s experiences after moving from Italy to the Alberta mountain town of Jasper. The play takes place during the preparation of a family dinner, as Francesco and his father Salvatore seek to reconcile their generational differences. Salvatore holds dearly to the traditions of his home country of Italy and wishes to share them with his song. Meanwhile, Francesco is further drawn to the popular culture of the era.
Being a Italian young man in the 70s, Francesco finds himself discovering new role models in the likes of cinematic icons Rocky Balboa and John Travolta.
Farren Timoteo joined Lisa Wilton on Traffic Jams to talk about the new show and the importance of connecting with family and audiences alike.
