Lala was tracking southwest of Oʻahu Sunday morning as the storm made its way east along the island chain.
The storm was downgraded overnight from a hurricane to a tropical storm. A tropical storm is a cyclone with sustained winds ranging from 39 to 73 mph.
Most of the state was under a tropical storm warning as of 9:40 a.m. Sunday, with the exception of Big Island. Weather is expected to improve.
