A conversation with a UWM professor changed everything for Tomás. With support from faculty, hands-on research experience, and programs like McNair and STAR, he discovered not just what he wanted to do — but that he had what it takes to do it. Now, he’s equipped with the skills and confidence to pursue graduate school, with a clear goal to return to his home community and provide mental health care.
