I built a 3D printer, and recorded nearly all of the building process. There was a lot to do in building this thing, but it was well worth it! Expect more videos about 3D printing in the future (after I finish calibrating it).
Total build time: Roughly 12 hours
While I followed the directions to build this initially, I had to change a few things in the final design. What I built in this video isn't exactly what I ended up using.
The final shot shows it with a few add-ons. Primarily the glass build plate and the LCD display. The build plate, which is covered in gold-colored kapton tape, was cut from a mirror. The LCD module was purchased and attached onto the RAMPS controller board.
The timelapse was filmed on a Droid Razr smartphone from 2011 at 1 picture/second. It was then sped up more in certain places, and the final speed in the video varies between 30 and 90 times faster than real time. The final shots were done with a Nikon D3200.
