Tight hip flexors can cause a wide variety of problems. If you feel tightness in the front of your hips after sitting too long, experience low back pain, or feel like you are bending forward all the time, your hip flexors could be the culprit. Here are three ways to stretch your hip flexors to help release the tightness and reset the muscles.

The hip flexors help flex the knee up towards the chest. They also come up and connect to the spine, so when they are tight, they can cause hip and back pain. They are important for activities like walking, running, and many other daily movements. The hip flexors are made up of several muscles including the iliacus and the psoas major, often called the iliopsoas. The other hip flexors are the rectus femoris, sartorius, and the pectineus.
