We're diving into my first furniture thrift flip on my channel. We're taking an ugly orange stained bench I thrifted for $30 and transforming it into a gorgeous mid-century modern piece.
In this tutorial I'm testing two methods to re-stain or recolor wood furniture WITHOUT stripping. I'm using both gel stain and Minwax PolyShades to achieve a beautiful wood finish.
After the re-staining tutorial, I also share how to sew a custom (and professional looking) bench cushion. It turns this thrifted dining table bench into comfortable and aesthetic-looking additional seating in my entryway/living room area. ✨
NOTE: These methods only work if you are making the wood piece a darker stain color from the original wood.
