This ESP32-based device raised $2 million on Kickstarter, and in this video I’ll show you why—and how I’m using it with my custom firmware.

Kode Dot started as an idea from two makers and quickly became a huge Kickstarter success. I followed the project from the very beginning, and now I’m using an early version of the device as part of my smart home system.

My first video about KodeDOT:

In this video, you’ll see:

My custom firmware running on Kode Dot
How I use it to control lights and fans via ESP-NOW
Monitoring indoor and outdoor temperatures using ESP32 sensors
Reading live data from the internet and syncing RTC time
A look at the hardware features and why this device is so powerful

The biggest advantage of Kode Dot is the ability to store multiple firmwares (apps) on an SD card and switch between them whenever you want. It’s a true pocket ESP32 powerhouse.

The UI was designed in SquareLine Studio, and all the code was written in the Arduino IDE. I’ll share the code, so feel free to explore and build on it yourself.
