The Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme commemorates 72,337 British and South African servicemen who died during the Battles of the Somme in the First World War between 1915 and 1918 and whose graves are unknown. Located near the village of Thiepval in Picardy, it stands as the largest Commonwealth memorial to the missing anywhere in the world.
