Cycling the world - Asia: episode 39
I leave my campsite deep in the Omani desert and continue across a vast oil field on rough desert tracks, battling corrugations, soft sand and relentless headwinds. What should have been a quiet day turns strange when workers from nearby oil facilities stop and question me again and again, eventually following me for hours until the police arrive and put an end to it. With slow progress through the sand and water becoming a concern, I push on toward the end of the track, finding relief at a remote mosque before reaching the highway once again. As the sun sets over the desert, I find a place to camp, cook a plate of tortellini and prepare for another day on the long ride across Oman.
