FFT is one of my favorite Strategy RPGs, so I'm interested in checking out this version. Definitely some questionable things out of the gate, but we'll get to that.
Also, I did a Let's Play of this game 16 years ago. If you were around at that time... Congrats, you're old now.

This one was an adventure. There were actually two packages, and they came in one day after another. And I missed both of them. Of course, they say you have to wait until the next business day to pick up any missed packages. The thing is, the second package (which was this one) came by on Friday, meaning the next day I could theoretically pick it up would be Monday, which would kind of suck. Regardless of that, on that same Friday, I decided to at least go and pick up the first one. I took the mail slip for the second package along just in case, and lo and behold, they actually had the second package there as well, so I got to pick them both up at the same time. Of course, carrying both of them at the same time is kind of a thing since I have to bike halfway across town with a backpack to do this. Fortunately, I had the mind to actually bring some straps along on the off chance Id need them, which as itd turn out, yeah. Didnt make the ride any less painful, though, since what even is a physical activity.

![Lets Play: Dangerous Patchy-San - 07 - Bamboo
You know, I just realized that this bamboo forest contains no rabbits. What is this, I dont even.
For the record, I decide to cut off the recording session after this level. I honestly dont know how I was actually able to commentate as much as I did in the past.

![Serious Sam 3: Jewel of the Nile in 10:50 (Segmented Speedrun; Normal Difficulty)
So yeah, heres this. Had this route in the making for quite some time now, just recently got around to actually recording it. I decided to do it on Normal difficulty because... well, this run is nigh-impossible to do Single-Segmented, and Segmented Tourist might be overkill in terms of difficulty reduction. Now, one flaw with my plan to do Normal is that Ive never actually practiced Normal Segmented; just Tourist. So, I had to do a LOT of reloading saves due to getting absolutely slaughtered in a few areas. I was outright seething by the end of the run. As a fun thing, keep an eye on the time in the top-right corner to see how long I took between segments.
I might explain whats going on at some point later, but for now Ill let chaos ensue in your minds.
For the unaware, a Segmented speedrun is essentially a speedrun where you can save and load. Any time where you have to load a save is a segment. While you could spam the save key to essentially TAS the game, its preferable to use as few segments as possible.
Times:
Gathering of the Gods - 04:26 (4 Segments)
Together Forever - 02:08 (7 Segments)
Born Again - 04:16 (5 Segments)
Total - 10:50 (16 Segments)
While this run is definitely improvable, Im not sure if it can be taken lower than 10 minutes. Best improvements I can see are sprinting while edge-walking out of bounds, and possibly killing the boss faster. Itd also be nice to get it in less segments.
Anyways, I might do a full-speed Segmented Tourist run later. At the very least, having this Normal-mode video up before that means I can punch anyone who bitches about speedrunning on Tourist in that.
Also, to anyone who wishes to do this route single-segment, I wish you the best of luck.

![Serious Sam 3: BFE - The Dark Bride in 0:55 (Single-Segment; Tourist Difficulty)
Im pretty sure this is the route improvement that nobody saw coming.
So, we found another game-breaker. Turns out, if youre right next to a wall, and you fire the Rocket Launcher at the wall at a certain range of upwards angles, you will receive a *massive* upwards boost that launches you high into the air under normal conditions. Its the most ass-backwards Rocket Jump youve ever seen. Shoutouts to Sly7745, who discovered this initially. He calls it Rocket Boosting... but really, not everything needs to be called a boost. I prefer Rocket Launching.
Anyways, the main problem with this is fall damage. Performing a full-height Rocket Launch and landing on any height near where you started will kill you instantly, even on Tourist with 200 HP. Fortunately, there is a way to prevent this: Walking Support. If the Walking Support on your model is able to grab on to a flat plane on your way up, you will stick to that plane and drop all your momentum. Ill just call this a (Walking) Support Cling. Note that Walking Support is calculated every frame, so if youre running the game at a low FPS, this becomes much less reliable. As well, it seems that your Walking Support will *also* prevent Rocket Launches from a standing position if your FPS is too high (greater than 60). To counteract this, use the console command gfx_iMaxFPSActive=60 to set your max FPS to 60 (its 10000 by default, in case you ever want to set it back).
Rocket Launching is made easier in Tourist difficulty, simply by the fact that Tourist nulls self-damage, and guess what, rockets explode. Of course, in theory, with enough HP and armor, this should be possible on other difficulties... its just that youll have to *nail* all three launches without failing. A cold run of the level (with the HP/Armor you start with) is, however, impossible to do this fast.
For reference, this route essentially cuts out the entire level. On top of what the old route skipped, this also skips the underground segment, the trip required to get up onto the walls near the start, and going around the wall at the end. To note, the latter has been made incredibly unreliable to do since the Christmas Update (which fixed some things with Sandwhale), so Rocket Launching was a welcome addition. The old route took about 3 minutes, while this route takes about a third of that. This is also now the only level you can complete in under a minute under normal conditions. You also never encounter a single enemy. The only way you could possibly obtain score on the route is if Sandwhale kills the sleeping Biomech Minors underground.

![Serious Sam 3: BFE - Halloween Virus with 7Smoke
Happy Halloween. For those of you going out, stay safe, and avoid people who are literally on fire.
So yeah, Virus is a gamemode I made for SS3 sometime back, based off of Virus from the Timesplitter games. Basically, one person starts out infected, and everyone else has to try and stay away, lest they also become infected. The person who avoids infection longest wins. You can find the gamemode, along with a more detailed description, here:

While the event did go for about 2-3 hours, we only played about 13 different maps... And I wasnt all that happy with the majority of my footage (which has been a recurring problem, and the reason I havent posted a video on this before). This is mainly the rounds that went by rather briskly, without either the first infectee having difficulty catching anyone, or the last 2 people being literally impossible to find. Maybe I could do another video with the maps that took longer... but I dont know. Im just tired and want to get a video out.
