This is how Iceland stopped the lava from overrunning the Blue Lagoon and the geothermal power plant, which powers and keeps most houses on the Reykjanes Peninsula warm so this was a major achievement, and it is currently serving as a tourist sensation. That could however change fast since more magma has accumulated by the Blue Lagoon than ever before, so the risk is still there.

$The Thermal Drone Got It Right - Warm Fracture from a Magma Intrusion It was literally the icing on the cake for me to look at the video from the traditional camera that confirmed hot air from the fracture without any doubt. We see this all the times by hot springs and i should have noticed this earlier but I was just so focused on the thermal images that gave me a hard time when the non working spot thermometer made it impossible to get an accurate reading from my last tour. This finding is as such not important as for the big picture on the peninsula, its more of a technincal statement about how useful IR drone thermal cameras can be, so when we got this statement about magma at 1.5km depth recently, i knew it was the perfect test.
