In 2024, 14 year old Sewell Setzer III tragically died by s*icide after a Character AI chatbot convinced him to hide his feelings from his parents and eventually, take his own life.
And Sewell is not the only child who was taken too early because of the negligence of a company that prioritized profit over child safety. In fact, 272 signs were placed outside the United States Capitol a few days ago, each honoring a child gone too soon.
