There are 4,294,967,296 possible Spinda patterns in Pokémon, and this project generated every single one of them through Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. This video essay documents how I used Generation III Pokémon RNG manipulation, egg RNG, PID generation, automation, and a modified version of the mGBA emulator to obtain and verify all 4.3 billion Spinda patterns.
For the last ten years, I have spent a long time wondering how, not if, to get each and every single Spinda in existence for the purpose of getting a truly complete collection of the spot panda Pokemon, even if there are literal billions..
After many years of research, trial and error, and increasingly absurd scaling ideas, I made it happen. This is a video essay which tells that story. Fire Red and Leaf Green are the perfect games to make this impossible goal possible because of how it works in egg RNG. But getting that to work on scale is another story.
MGBA is a fantastic emulator, and because the source code is freely accessible, I was able to tinker it to my weirdly specific use case, and then deploy it like a factory.
