Thanks to the Remastered's load times, fighting this Punch Out boss in the Epilogue no longer feels like a drag. Just load in, load out and no penalties for messing up. This means I was able to practice against this guy long enough to figure out the perfect strategy against him. Maybe I'll do a more detailed video explanation, but here's the rundown I've discovered:
His primary telegraphs are his twitching eyebrows and flashing eyes. When his eyebrow twitches, you can dodge his upcoming punch to either side. When his blue eyes flash, you MUST dodge in the opposite direction of the eye. For example, if his left eye (your right) flashes, dodge to your left.
When you dodge his twitching eyebrow punch, perform your uppercut punches (Up + X/Y). Do it fast enough and you'll earn a star. When you dodge his flashing eyes, go for the gut punches instead. This will also equally earn you a star if you're fast enough. If you do the opposite, you won't punch him nearly as fast so you won't earn any stars. When his mouth twitches, he'll go for a laser attack. You can dodge his laser attack in either direction. Just wait a bit after dodging before attacking because he WILL block you if you respond too quickly. Go for the uppercuts to earn a star.
Throughout the entire course of this fight, you can KO him 3 times. If you use a laser attack or star punch to KO him, he'll immediately start throwing rocks or blasting the ceiling as soon as he wakes up, which wastes precious time. Only knocking him out with your regular punches will reduce the chances of him getting aggressive. As a bonus, after the first KO there's a high chance you can leave him in a longer stun after countering his attacks to make up the fact that you're not using your lasers or star punch. When he does his multi-punch pattern, simply dodge away from each punch. It's all relatively well paced out. The one in the video is his more typical pattern but some of his patterns also include a kick which you must jump.
Hope that helps. This strategy will also work against the regular boss fight in Operation 005-C but be aware he immediately starts attacking when he's introduced so stay on your toes. I can't believe I'm actually enjoying this boss now. I've been constantly getting Pure Plats in this Kahkoo-Regah just because it's fun. No loading times can really change the way you view things.
