I was intrigued by Tetsuo Kogawa's "Micro FM transmitter", so I decided to put one together on a breadboard. Instead of the 2SC2001 (an old Japanese transistor) I used the ubiquitous 2N3904, which worked, at least after a fashion. If you were to build this circuit for real, solder it down on some copper clad and use shielded cable.
