Superconductivity for sustainability
A novel, flexible cryostat, colloquially known as the “python”, is composed of 19 high-temperature magnesium diboride superconducting cables. Together it can transfer a current of about 120 kA (DC). This innovative superconducting transfer line marks the beginning of a sustainable approach to electrical transmission.
